So is this game worth it?

I was thinking about getting it. All I've heard about it though, is that its a rush fest. As in, map starts - you rush the other base. Kind of like how WC3 online is. I'am not "dissing" rushing, because that could be your thing (what you like to do) I for one am not a fan of it.

All together is it worth it?
Rushing is a "strat" for Savage, but its not terribly effective if you opponent is even a little bit prepared. There are "tech rushes" where your commander pushes for a specific technology quickly, but thats to be expected. There are a number of tech rush options, none of which is a clear winner in all situations and none of which cannot be countered.

In fact, much of the fun of the game is trying to predict what tech advances the enemy will make and how quickly they will make them.

All in all the game is a ton of fun. Many of our staff have been on the beta and actively playing for about 6 months. Its definately worth looking into.

A few good things about the game is.
If you are a huge strategy guy then you can be the commander or get good with it. However, you like you FPS then you get to explore that aspect of the game.
Either way the game is worth buying since you can satisfy both needs at once.

Also if you are the commander and your base is getting attacked you can hop out of the commander position and be a player to fend off an attack if needed.
Then hop right back into the commander chair.
With most servers I play on I do rush. It mostly for money so you can get the upgrades, but with rules in gameplay comes a chance for TWL to make where you dont rush. It would be nice if there where rules where you could not rush for 3-5 mins or whatever. I also think only base building and not adding any sublairs for a certain time is also needed for TWL. Just putting my 2 cents in take it or not I just love this game all around.
i think you'll find that rushing in a match environment won't be quite as easy since there will be significantly more organization on the opponent's team than in a pub.

I may just have to go buy this game. Although i'd like to wait on the price to cut down a tad. Not that I'm cheap, its just sometimes i'll buy a game and 2 months later its 15$ cheaper. I talked some friends that played the beta. They gave me some positive feedback on how its the first game they've played where you actually have to play as a team. That aspect kind of grabs me. How would you guys rate the learning curve? 1 being the easiest 10 being really hard. Just curious.
Learning curve depends on how willing you are to listen to what others are saying. For average newb I think it would be 5-6 for someone who knows someone in CkB or another big clan and knows to sit down and shut up should be around 3. And for the n00b its an 8 or so I think. Of course thats just me : )
This game sounds fun as shit. I haven't bought a new game in ages, but this one definitely sounds different.
but it's slow...
No it isnt. There and times where its quiet, but the action gets rather intense very quickly. The pacing is just about perfect.

When you play this game on a team or whatever is one person the commander and another a player/fighter or something else like Dungeon keeper where you take control of a unit?
hi2u umpy, get the demo yiggidy yo... http://www.s2games.com/savage/downloads.html

I posted that while I was downloading the demo
I wish there were different zoom levels on the bow, thats about it for my complaints about this game so far.

Not sure if they plan on making that change or not.
It would be helpful kinda. My theory is if you are using the scope and they become so large in it that you can't tell what you are looking at. You need to switch to melee.

just downloaded it i love marksman bow the best one there is but u only get 5 ammo i like it but it can get boring after a while
Bring an ammo pack.
oh i do and still get 10 the only time the game gets boring is if u have a bad commander

RENEGADES!

I never buy a game without a chance to try it first so when I heard about savage I went and downloaded the warezed version and tried it out by running my own server and then just messing with everything. It looked like another flawed melding of rts and fps (natural selection was awesome idea as well but not fun). When they released the demo I thought ok I'll give it a second chance. The demo is a blast! I think they patched some things first before releasing it because it's much nicer than the one that I first downloaded. If you are curious about this game try the demo and you'll understand how much fun it can be. Make sure to give it some time for you to learn. Even in the demo my first few times playing were frustrating.
I was getting my ass kicked when I first started playing it, but still had a blast lol. This game rules
I think its funny that my "No." posts keep getting deleted.

He asks a legit question, i give a legit answer just like everyone else, just cuz it isnt one you want to hear isnt a reason to delete it. I have a right to state my opinion just like everyone else did.

I have been deleting your posts because they are not productive. Feel free to state your opinion with a justification. Simple "no" is does not actually answer the question.

Not to mention that at this time, demo is largely popular and the servers for it are fabulous.
When u first buy the game u ussually think its a waste of money but once u get into savvage u will love it!
