RTS Component

I've been reading about this game for about 4 months now (always been a big fan of FPS and RTS)...

From what I've seen so far people are saying good things about how the beta is going but I was curious...

Pubs, of course, are notorious for having plenty of ass-clowns messing stuff up (my current game, Enemy Territory, is a good example of this), so do you think it would really ruin the server if a total tool messed things up as the RTS Commander?

I would love to see these genres mixed this way and I think it'll add a fantastic dimension to competetive play but considering I've spent more time on pubs than matches I'm just kinda worried that aspect...

Newbie comms make for real shitty games
That's what I'm worried about...

I guess everyone's gotta learn at some time or other i spose... Does the game even have a single player side to it to let people practice?
There is no single player side. There is a facility to allow the FPS players vote out a bad Commander.
Yikes... I hate to imagine how the quality of the commanders is going to be at first...

Guess I'll just stick to the FPS aspect for a bit :O

there is a voting component in the game that lets you vote on a number of things and you're right about the type of skills you're going to see in the initial release of Savage for the commanders...

You can create your own private server though, to test out both modes. That's how I learned the RTS aspect, before I actually tried being a commander in a real game. I still had a little trouble, but nowhere near as much as I would have if I hadn't done that, since I already roughly new the tech tree (and so on).

Plus, I'm sure a lot of the beta people will be willing to take commander at first. I prefer the FPS aspect, if only because I generally play more FPS games, but if nobody wants to Comm, I have no problem doing it, and I'm sure it's the same with others.
Just curious, is the RTS aspect more along the lines of Age of Empires (tons of stuff to research, build, and micromanage) or more so like Starcraft (fewer upgrades, buildings, and whatnot)?
i'd say it's more like SC than AoE.. you don't really need to micromanage everything.

Yeah, I'd say it feels more like SC/WC3.
