so of course I bought a ps2 awhile back and like most it's now just used as a dvd player (most i've talked to) when I started it I entered in a code for the dvd player. Well i'm getting annoyed reading "this dvd requires level 8 access, do you wish to put the level to level 8? then I have to type in the code, this goes on for every single video.

Anyone know how to get rid of this after it's turned on?

It's always been on for me... I wish it wasn't... hitting 0000 is annoying after the 500th time.
Get an Xbox, or *gasps* a real DVD player that plays all DVDs!

Seriously though, the PS2 is one of (if not THE) worst DVD players in existance. It's a great game console, not a great DVD player.

Turn off parental lock:

Insert a DVD. When the movie starts, press Select
to go to the menu. Find the "Setup" icon and select
it. When in the setup menu, press Right(2) to get to the
custom setup. Go down to "Parental Control" and press
Right to go to "Region", then go down to go to
"Level". You can now turn the parental control on or
off, and/or change the password.

Change or delete parental lock:

Press Start when prompted to enter the code.
Once you get to where you enter the numbers, press Start
and you will be asked if you want to delete it. You can also enter
another code instead of deleting it. The master code is 7444.
Enter it, and at the last "4", press Select
at the same time. Do this again, and you will eventually get the
option to delete the lock. Enter 7444 again to delete the code.

and personally, I love my PS2's DVD player feature.

I have the ps2 in my own room for either playing games, or watching/listening to a movie while gaming. Thanks for the opinion fire but I think i'll just keep the ps2 and save a few bucks.

Thank you very much Phantom, hopefully I will be able to turn that off.

If not, do what I did...

Go out and buy the Official Sony DVD Remote. It's like $15.00

Since I've bought that, I haven't had to enter in a single code and believe me, it's TOTALLY worth it.

I have a DVD player in my room, and my PS2 is on my widescreen in the living room, so it doubles as a DVD player. Believe me, getting that remote is a god send.

OR

Find somebody that owns the remote and take his disc that came with it. Install it and you'll be good to go.

If god created Adam and Eve, and they bore two sons, Cain and Able, then who did Cain marry to continue the family line? Think hard on that one...
