Short version.

Do NOT buy gas at either Shell or Petro Canada for the near future.

Long version.

Shell released a Technical advisory to the major auto makers letting them know that the additive they are adding to their gas is gumming up the fuel tank sensors causing incorrect readings. This currently affects all GM cars and some Toyotas.

This happened to me...and is why I know am passing it off to you.

All they did to fix it was add fuel injector cleaner to the tank and said "Watch it for a couple tanks" if it doesnt sort itself out they will have to replace the tank sensor at $4-500 a pop. (luckily I am under warrenty)

I have no ides if they use the same additives in the States but you may want to check.

Actually, the additive is only in the high test gas. The regular gas doesn't have it - at least not in Quebec. this information was released quite awhile ago.

Well its in the reg gas down here. I own a Jimmy not putting hi-test in that..lol
Well here it's only in the 2 highest octane fuels... the regular doesn't have it... it's trhat cleaner additive that starts with a "T" right? Can't remember the actual name...

Also if you drive a GM truck, do NOT use their additive of coolant. Talk with your mechanic. It causes gum-up after about 50k miles and after the warranty is expired
And don't drive your car, cause the warranty will eventually expire.
