Nick Van Exel

May be the most exciting player in the league
I don't know about the "most exciting,” but that is my opinion. He sure has reached puberty, or something, since his ass was traded from the Laker's. God he sucked when he played for that team. I think getting traded to the Nugget's will step up anybody's career. Now when I see his numbers I just shake my head and go, neat, and we kept Derrick (cry me a 4th ring) Fisher. Much props to Van Exel, I always enjoyed watching how explosively he charges the hoop.
now if only the rest of team would play like he has been lately, the mavs could easily win the championship
Mav's can't win because they have a basis of an Eastern Conference team- no dominant inside presance (god don't say bradly)

Buuuuuuuuut, Nick the quick, my x fav Laker, was traded in order to improve the chemistry of the team. It was a mess, because he wants to be the star, and has the drive and skills to easily be one. Jerry West freely admits he was traded due to his attitude.

Nicks playing style reminded me a lot of John Starks (w.h.p.f.t. *when he played for the* Knicks) and Tim Hardaway (w.h.p.f.t. Warriors). They both kicked ass, and were fun to watch. Come time for a clutch shot, in an important game, they would miss. He was one of the most unreliable players I remember seeing. One night 28 points 8 assists the next night one bucket and 3 assists. It is very hard to build a great team around that kind of player. Ask Indiana, they should know this first hand, after all the years they have had Reggie Miller.
AngelicEnmity-

Didn't Nick Van Exel have a conflict with Dell Harris? Or was it Kurt Rambis? I remember one of the Laker coaches (pre Phil era) couldn't take his attitude anymore. I thought it was in 1999.
shawn bradley > Shaq

Sike......

LoL, how can u be the tallest guy in the league and suckiest at same time.

he's tallest guy in league and doesn't even start.

anyways, nick is killing, to come off bench and average almost 26 points a game is awesome.

You're nuts. Nick Van Exel won the close games in the kings series w/ last second shots, in fact, sent one into OT that way.

But Jason Kidd won the games preventing them from going into OT. So Kidd > Van Exel.

John Starks w.h.p.f.t Knicks was a wild eyed nut case. Didn't he headbutt Reggie Miller on the court? Watching Starks, I always got the impression that he could snap at any moment and start killing people like a postal worker on a good day.

Maybe if that happened Vlasic could find something interesting about basketball (give Starks a spinfusor and a jet pack and I bet Vlasic'd watch :p)

As if Van Exel has a squeaky clean background. Gimme a break.

Nick the quick can easily be an all star, and deserves it. His attitude is his only problem, as every player seems to have it, but his just goes off at the wrong time.

Nick had an issue with Harris, as well as the team as a whole.

And..... We all remember George Mueresan: 7'7", suckiest player EVER... lol. Massive height does not = success in basketball.

hmmmmmm sorry for the topic change put what about best NBA fights ever?

In my opinion the best NBA fight occured this year between doug christy and rick foxx... that upper cut was sweet as hell... then to make it worse christy beat him up again in the back.

2nd best fight to me was like a year maybe 2 years ago between kobe and chris childs, Kobe didn't even know how to fight lmao childs hit him with like 3 punches then kobe put his hands up lmao!
Best fight-

Between Marcus Camby and Danny Ferry, then Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson, when Jeff Van Gundy ran into the middle of both fights, and latched onto one of their legs...... That was beyond hillarious.

You really should read all the posts, in the thread, before you call someone names. I was referring to when he played for the Laker's (thus "reminded" was used instead of "reminds"). If you read my other posts, I said he is a much improved player. To claim he has played this way his entire career is incorrect. He sucked, plain and simple, and had a big ego, that is what I was referring too. A lot like the other players I mentioned.

Those are all good fights, I remember when Gundy got hit in that fight....haha that was a priceless. The fight that I remember the most was between Shaq and Charles Barkley. IT only lasted a few swings, but it was funny to see Shaq that pissed off. Barkely has always had skills at getting people mad. Reminded me a lot of Bill Lambeer (sp?)
Didn't Van Exel go to the NBA straight from high school?

Nah, Cincinatti 93'
Best fight = Jerry Sichting vs. Ralph Sampson 1986 Finals game 5 Houston. Here's Sampson (all 7-2 of him) punching a 6-1 guard. WTF is that? Melee ensues and in the pack Sichting bites Sampson. That was a classic moment.

Other fights worthy. 1984 McHale and Rambis Game 3 Finals LA Forum. 1987 EC Finals Game 2 Parrish railing Laimbeer with a vicious tomohawk. Nov. 9 1984 Bird and Dr.J scrapping, Larry almost pulled a chunk of the Docs neck out. What a brawl.

Nick Van Smack is inconsistent but still a quality streak shooter. Definitely Vinny "Microwave" Johnson type of player. Not really a started but certainly a valuable addition to any team. One other note. Does anyone find it odd how he shoots free throws? He's 3-4 steps behind the line!!! What is that?

BTW, ya think I might be a Boston fan?

Uhh, the Mav's have a huge advantage over the Spurs.. their assistant coach is Avery Johnson - a former Spurs player.. Too bad the Spurs are going to win the championship anyway.

sounds coo, but before my day.
Nick doesn't "toe" the line when he shoots free throws, due to the fact that he is not comfortable at shooting from closer distances. It gives the appearance he's unguarded and 'open' psychologically when he steps back more, making it a simple shot for him.
