Portland, Oregon is flushing 38 million gallons (143 million liters) of drinking water down the drain because a 19-year-old man urinated in an open reservoir early on Wednesday morning, city water officials said.

dilution is no solution.....dump it all. dump it all right down the drain.

The 50-million-gallon (189-million-liter) reservoir was taken off line and was tested for possible contamination and the results will be known Thursday. But in the meantime, the city has decided to "discard" 38 million gallons of water and clean the reservoir, Shaff said.

I think Oregon just wants to piss in California's face.

Seeing as how they are going on the worst drought in over a century.

This might be a good way to do it. I'd sell it to California......or give it to Mexico to make more Corona.

It's a tradition in Portland to piss in their water reservoirs.

And yes I would still drink the water.

Call me a piss drinker, but this is like someone pissing into ten olympic sized pools.

I dont understand, is this reservoir open, like a lake or totally enclosed like a tank? If its open, as I believe it must be, do birds not fly over it? frogs and fishes live in it? that seems to be the consensus of everyone who read the article. apparently they don't know what water treatment centers and tanks are in Portland. all the crap that flies and dies over this water would be far more of a concern to me than one dude taking a whizzzzzer.

this makes no sense styrk. If it were a closed system then it would make sense to pump directly into homes. It's open and acid raid, bugs, dead birds, etc would certainly be in the water. How much piss from one person in parts per million is even detectable?
