This was a conversation one of my employees had with the parent of a patient of ours.
Later, the delivery guy comes in and tells us he doesn't know why she wanted to speak to him. She just asked if he was dropping the equipment off today...
Which is why Cust. Service called in the first place.

Parent - Why are you calling me NOW to tell me you're dropping off my son's equipment TODAY?!?! Don't YOU people let people know in advance?
Customer Service - We tried contacting you previously, but nobody picks up and your cell phone has no voice mailbox.
Parent - Yeah. I set it up that way.
Customer Service - Well, we have a guy going into Newark today, and he will be able to deliver the equipment this afternoon.
Parent - I want to speak to the man. Is this his number?
Customer Service - This is the office...
Parent - I want his NUMBER!
Customer Service - Please hold, and we'll have him pick up the phone in the warehouse where he's loading the van.
... (20 seconds)
Delivery Driver - Hey Mack! She hung up!
Me - Call this woman back... something wrong with her?
Customer Service - Nobody is picking up.
Me - What's this one's problem?
Delivery Driver - This is the lady who called the last time to complain I wasn't there to deliver something, meanwhile - she walked out of the apartment complex, passing me, security, and her son's new power wheelchair to go outside.
"sigh"
Lady calls back!
Parent - Why did you hang up on me?
Customer Service - We didn't hang up on you, we were transferring the call to the delivery driver.
Parent - ... and YOU kept me on HOLD for a LONG time!! I WANT to SPEAK to the Delivery guy and I don't like being put on hold forever!
Customer Service - Listen, Mrs. "White", the only way to get the guy is if I transfer the phone call to where he is. If you hang up the phone, you won't get to speak to him. If we try to call you and you don't pick up, you won't get your son's equipment. I have to put you on hold so you can speak to the guy.
ARE YOU GONNA HANG UP!?! Let me know, because if you are, I won't bother transferring you! Please HOLD.
