Over the past 5 years we havent heard much about the casualty count for A-stan in the news. I remember the count was pretty much a daily affair in the news for the previous administration and now it seems to have all but disappeared despite the high losses under the current WH admin.

Perhaps the Resident didnt know about this either?

Arent you proud he was re-elected? Race relations are better, the US is more respected, our economy is booming, unemployment is down, everyone now has affordable healthcare, the national debt is manageable, Rights arent being infringed upon, etc., etc.

All of you who voted for him a second time should stand up, take a bow, and be recognized for the progress you helped usher in. Like the troops, there will be acceptable levels of casualties as we begin the year of the progressives.

I cant wait to see what they bring next.

It would be interesting to see casualty rates broken up by all variables and just not the select few that may or may not have to do with Who is Commander and Chief. In charge of the senate, House, etc.

Also, how does the rates compare to past incursions where a government stays and sets up shop for 5 years, 10 years etc.

Not saying Obama isn't to blame, he may very well be, but it is irresponsible to lay blame with hand picked facts.

Why didn't you supply Iraq's US Casualties by year? Paint's a lot different picture doesn't it? So based off these figures should people who re-elected Bush be ashamed of themselves? or are these figures by themselves without any supporting data useless?

You must have skimmed the OP; it's the only explanation as to why your comprehension missed the main point.

I left out the Iraq war because it was largely done by 2008 -however, that didnt stop the media in reporting casualties, now did it? Nor did it stop Owebama from trying to claim credit for the withdrawal that was already done under the previous admin.

You disappoint me.
I thought the wars were over?

That no American was dying in any country anymore?

That's sure the way the news likes to pretend things are these days.

Afghanistan is like the new Korean War.......we will have troops in that country indefinitely and likely forever now.

We went in trying to beat the Taliban.....now they are a major part of the negotiation process.

We will do anything to save face and not admit a lost cause.

sorry to disappoint you with my open mind. i hate the media, i don't need half truths to reinforce that. fox, cnn, etc, all the same to me.

Looks like death rates peaked up to the capture and death of osama and has been dropping sharply since. Tell me how I should think about that and why the media hasn't been hyping it up?

lol

If you're mind was open, then we wouldnt be having this discussion. You would consider the point valid or you wouldnt based upon your reasoning abilities.

But hey, Im a sporting guy... do you think that casualty counts matter anymore after the election of '08?

It IS the progressive era you know.
I didn't even know we were still at war.

I was told that all wars were over.

that our economy was fixed

and that guitmo was closed and patriot act was overturned.

please don't tell me this isn't accurate.
-SS-, i have stated this dozens of times and i will state it once again.

I believe it is a giant game of smoke and mirrors. That Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama etc all the same. I do not believe that they are the actual decision makers at all. just puppets.

Let's just look at universal healthcare. It was going to happen even if Romney got in, after all it was modeled after "his" Massachusetts healthcare system. So no matter who won, it was primed to roll out and did.

Iraq was "Clinton's" decision right? Think about it, do you really think who gets elected dictates the "big" decisions? sure, Right says this, left says that, but in the end it is all just talk and what was already decided happens.

All the talk is just wool pulled over our eyes so we have the illusion that we have influence, which we do not.

So, from my standpoint, the only real control I have is what I can do for my family. I chose military because it worked well for me and my family and the knowledge I was just a pawn on some game of chess doesn't bother me. Choosing what kind of pawn you can be is in your span of control. Choosing not to be a pawn is not.

As long as you are working, paying taxes, or not working taking taxes, you are still a pawn. You would have to find some remote area that no government knows about and truly get off the grid to not be a pawn in some form or another.

AP – KAILUA, Hawaii — How President Barack Obama spent Day 11 of his holiday vacation in Hawaii on Tuesday:

— GYM: After a late dinner outing the night before, the president woke up early for a one-hour morning workout at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. As his motorcade passed in front of the base’s gate on the way in, two middle-aged spectators were doing aerobics in the driveway.

— SNORKELING: Obama and his family went to Hanauma Bay, a popular snorkeling area closed to the public on Tuesdays. As they arrived, about two dozen onlookers gathered along a highway turnoff to take pictures.

— PROCLAMATIONS: White House officials said Obama signed three presidential proclamations Tuesday, for National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, National Stalking Awareness Month, and National Mentoring Month.

Everything is under control people. I know you all can't go on 17 day vacations like me, but I feel your pain. I just need some sun and sleep, we'll have better ideas when we come back.

BTW - I signed all kinds of interesting things the future generations can celebrate instead of Christmas.

Signed,

Bozo the Clown

i don't agree with that. Any president makes his choices. Obama is the weakest leader in my lifetime.

Still trying to get Snake to admit that Romney, Governor AWB in Mass, wasn't being pro 2nd Amendment......

And that Romneycare was the foundation of Obamacare.

That both candidates, at one point, wanted to see this silly shit implemented on a Federal level.

Granted there is a difference between state laws and a federal fucking.....I have an impossible time celebrating (or voting for) either of these failed belief systems.

Yet alone someone who has tried to make a career out of perpetuating such poor philosophy.

while i find that to be very sad, i think we should all be looking at these numbers:

More than half of worldwide drug-related deaths in 2010 were caused by opioids

Heroin accounted for more than half of the 78,000 deaths from illegal drugs in 2010, but amphetamine had most addicts, researchers reported in The Lancet on Wednesday.
[.....]
More than 55 percent of drug-related deaths in 2010 were caused by opioids, the category which is dominated by heroin, according to their probe.
[.....]

CDC Grand Rounds: Prescription Drug Overdoses — a U.S. Epidemic

In 2007, approximately 27,000 unintentional drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States, one death every 19 minutes. Prescription drug abuse is the fastest growing drug problem in the United States. The increase in unintentional drug overdose death rates in recent years (Figure 1) has been driven by increased use of a class of prescription drugs called opioid analgesics (1). Since 2003, more overdose deaths have involved opioid analgesics than heroin and cocaine combined (Figure 2) (1). In addition, for every unintentional overdose death related to an opioid analgesic, nine persons are admitted for substance abuse treatment (2), 35 visit emergency departments (3), 161 report drug abuse or dependence, and 461 report nonmedical uses of opioid analgesics (4). Implementing strategies that target those persons at greatest risk will require strong coordination and collaboration at the federal, state, local, and tribal levels, as well as engagement of parents, youth influencers, health-care professionals, and policy-makers.
[.....]

and sadly, those numbers are old.

you know, the Queen needs to make sure she and her family are still in the business of destroying the world and with the CIA pushing her drugs worldwide, they get to fund AL CIAda to cause more wars to fund the military, security and big Pharma industrial complex.

http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Detroit-Michigan.html

or how about those numbers which far exceed deaths in Afghanistan, and this is just one US city.

my point is not to minimize the value of life of American soldiers, but those numbers are not that bad in comparison to many other stats. Media uses stats to create controversy imo.

How many innocent Afghan women and children do you suppose we killed? Sometimes I think we as a nation through our media can be very insensitive to others views.

War isn't pretty, it isn't clean. Whether it is necessary or not is debatable.

neither am i but when we have US tax payer funded American troops protecting poppy fields for the Queen, to be sold across the globe by the CIA and the politically connected drug dealers, hundreds of thousands of people across the world die every year. a far larger number than those tax payer funded US soliders protecting those poppy fields.
Lol, we are bombing poppy fields all the time. Not sure what conspiracy rag your reading, but i personally do not believe that at all. I dont think our government is good enough to pull that off.

Ah yes, Osama's assassination. Done with the machine that Bush established and only finally worked because Osama stayed in the same place for 5 years jerking off to porn and/or videos of himself.

BTW, you have the most closed mind on these forums at the moment.

The Mass. legislature mandated an universal healthcare system and their public wanted it. Romney may have come up with the specifics which sort of works if only a single wealthy state of willing collectivists want it but installing hyper-regulated / mandated healthcare scheme was not Romney's idea, he executed it under the direction of a veto proof state legislature.

I hate it when people sign dogshit legislature, with their own pen, in their own hand writing, and then pretend that they were somehow victimized for how it later turned out.

Just as with the AWB. Don't sign and don't tout shit you wish you didn't later......like when running for President.

I also enjoyed this description:

Actually, in 1993 when then-President Clinton was attempting to reform healthcare, Republicans who opposed Clinton’s idea of an employer mandate, supported the idea of an individual mandate. An individual mandate, the Republicans argued, would be a “free-market solution” to reform healthcare, part of a “social contract” that would help people take responsibility for themselves and avoid the immorality of freeloading off the government. Clinton’s plan, on the other hand, was seen as a “true government take-over” of healthcare, the worst form of the dreaded “socialized medicine.”

In fact, when Romney signed the Massachusetts Healthcare Law in 2006, it was touted by many healthcare experts, and media outlets as a “conservative answer” to the healthcare crisis.

The posters making excuses for Obama are closet democrats afraid to get made fun of. Obama is so bad it's comical how they deflect his ineptitude by bringing up bush or Clinton.

Pussies
Obama is one of the biggest shitheads ever. You know I'm not an apologist for him.

I can tell he is lying, or manipulating a situation, when he moves his lips.

With that said, i still can't pretend that Romney was any different in regards to how he governed. The presidential debates made me laugh.....because they both promised not to discuss anything that matters, subjects both were atrocious on, and spent the entirety of that time arguing over who would bomb what country faster and who would cut more money while spending more in another form later.

Get this man a civics class stat!

Present presidents excluded presidents don't mandate legislation they have minimal lattitude because of the resources at their disposal to do small changes only if Congress decides to let it pass.

State Governors have even less flexibility usually the state Constitutional rules haven't been bent and broken and the Governor is true an 'executive' which means they execute the direction set by intended decision makers, the legislature.

You repeatedly disregard this reality I have to believe you delperately want a king but only as long as he's your king.
