About to watch Conan the Barbarian (2012)

So I haven't watched many movies this year. Been to the theatre maybe twice, rented maybe once. BT Junkie bit the dust, then demonoid, so my options were limited. I'm now getting caught up on the crap that hollywood has been spewing out in the last several months. So far, nothing has been great. John Carter, Snow White and the Huntsman, American Pie 57, Underworld Awakening, and Wrath of the Titans have all been meh. Well, I dont know about Underworld, I don't remember what it was about, was too busy drooling over Kate in her leather pants. A threesome with her and Charlize may be in order.

So now I'm going to go against all my instincts and watch Conan. Every fiber in my body is screaming at me that this movie is going to suck, don't do it! I'll let you all know, because I know you are all dying to get a movie you have all already seen reviewed by me


Oh, Pirates band of misfits (which I watched with my 5yr old) was pretty damn entertaining.

i think you should just wait until movies re-enter your free market.

if you wish to become a positive and contributing member of supporting private enterprise's efforts to help society, get netflix and start to pay and start watching french crim e movies. i have a whole bunch to recommend. but for a nice entry level movie, try a good combination of action and relatively mundane plot stuff with 'district b13'

Ok, so an update. I am 2:55 into the movie, and I see Ron Perlman.

My little hope for this movie is quickly disappearing.

well when the new movies run out, you have to start digging.

i am not kidding, french crime movies are pretty fucking good. i was completely surprised. well killer elite is a great action movie with statham but if you haven't seen that yet, move onto french crime. there are some great capers with Jean Reno in them, and a bunch more. District B13 is a fun movie though.

Been slacking in my movie-watching duties... been focused on TV recently.

The Conan remake was pretty bad. The newest movie on Netflix is The Grey with Liam Neeson and that was not so great but better than Conan.

Awful. Disappointing. They could have done so much better with it, Conana is such an iconic figure, with so many stories to choose from. Why spend the money if you're just going to use second rate acting and writing?


Hollywood is over. They have no originality left. Cable channels are putting out tv shows that are 100x better than any movies being released. Occasionally there is something cool, like Inception, but those movies are fewer and further between.

The original Conan is awsome. Great music, story, scenary and even Arnold was a good fit. The new Conan sucks!!!

So I watched the first season of GoT, it wasnt bad, some episodes I fought dozing off in . . . do the next seasons get alot better? Is it really worth keeping up with? So far I'm thinking Deadwood and Sopranos had much more story and was much more interesting, did I miss something?
