so I told wife 1.0 we could go to disney orlando for 2 weeks this coming xmass, kids are 7 and 10 by then, the young one has never been, and I like Mary Poppins. Some of the dwarfs come in handy too.

Anyways, she goes and tells her dad, he goes and immediately books his 8ppl time share right next to disney for one of the weeks and tells her she can have the second week, or he can pay for us all to fly to ATL to visit her sister,

wife calls me with news. I am wtf woman? what's wrong with you? I want vaca time to be between you, me, son, daughter, Poppins, Dopy and Doc, not your side of the McCoys.

I say fuckit, you guys go, ill stay here, no worries it will be easier AND cheaper, ill be happier AND pay less money to get said happiness.

she gets it now, sort of, and grinds it all to halt, gets organized with details and options, all works out, except she starts looking at the prices and goes wtf? I say, woman get a pen and paper and add it all up, if you dont want to pay what I already know it costs, then the trauma is in your head, i know I deserve and so do my kids,, and so do you, as a matter of fact, but if it is too much for you, then call it all off.

she thinks, adds, ponders and says ok, we can do it, screw it.

she asks if her sis or mom can come to the timeshare, i say fuck now, why? b/c i want to be with you guys not with etc etc etc. she is uspset and doesnt understand why. i explain that her one sis from ATL has an inferiority complex and gets easily insulted with shit I say when in fact she wrongheaded (to this she agrees) and your mom? last three times I have seen her she has waited to the last minute at the airport curb to either give me a speech over some bullshit or hand me a letter for me to read on the way home, well if she cant be mature and have a normal convo, then I dont want to see her. oh so she cant come to our house to visit anymore? wife asks.

o yes she can, honey. so what's the difference? easy, if she goes to ORL, I will be paying thousands to have a shpiel from her, whereas if she comes to my house, i ait paying for shit, i get free babysitting AND if i want to get away to avoid her, i can book some seminar/convention, go t the sailboat or just work, or just get the fuck out all day AND let her take a cab to and fro.

she felt i was complicating things.

i said, no, you are, it started with a vacation between us 4 @ disney, right? that's my desire right now.

by adding more people to it, you are polluting my "dream". if you want something else, that's fine, I will respect it, just state so and pursue it, without me, I cant go that route. your mom or sis and me dont mix, let it be, u cant control it, and neither can i.

There will be other times for good times, but for bad times I have no time.

but what do i tell my family so they dont just fly down?

u worry about that later, first decide if you can respect the sort of trip I am prepared to take, the one I proposed first.

but what do i say? fuckit I dont care, let them have it, i dont need their approval. if u need them to approve of me, then lie, of not tell the the truth, she goes i married you i dont need their approval, so I go, there is your answer.

if u r still conflicted it is because on of the following:

1. u still think it would be good to have their approval of me and u dont want to ruffle feathers
2. you dont want to ruffle feathers and rather have me allow y'all to fuck up my vacation
3. you somehow think that a magical fairy will correct my crooked reasoning overnight and lead me to agree the insertion of such characters into my vacation, because you somehow think that is an ideal scenario.

i told her, u travel out with the kids to ATL one week ahead, spend that there THEN fly out to ORL to spend 2 weeks with me and the kids, ALONE. visit your sis in ATL first like I said, and have yo momma fly into ATL for that same week, all taken care of that same week...."but I want them to spend more time with their grandma/pa",

baby, 2 weeks 4 of us alone in ORL-Disney + your (with kids) one week in ATL with your McCoys, that or nothing, simple, dont complicate it, it's easy, decide tonight, and tomorrow book it all according to the options available, dont pull any stunts, because that will end up costing us more money in the end, i aint putting up with anyone's shit and i dont expect others to put up with my shit either, so everyone's shit stays within their own yards.

she went to bed conflicted

jesus christ and a bag of doritos!

women are fucking crazy, man, it's a scary place inside those brains, motherfucker!

I think that when SS rips into you later, you just need to remember that you had it coming.
who?
Aria, I worry about your deteriorating English skills...

Also... women. You know it. I know it. All the guys here know it.

What they feel is different from what they say is different from what you hear is different from what you interpret. And vice versa.

Rarely a true win-win for both sides... but you do the best you can, learn, move on, try to do better next time.
engritch, in know, im tired, long day, and 2morrow another long day. no language is good rite now.

i find the whole scenario I described HILARIOUS.

it was as if i watching in third person, in a detached "lol u gotta be kidding me" way.

it's just funny to me. when we lived in FL, we had annual passes and went there almost every friday and some other weekdays. our daughter was....3-5yrs old during those years, and they were good years, we never went when it was "beach season" and only on weekdays, so never saw real crowds.

with the sailboat and skiing I dont HAVE to go, but I understand if she wants to take the little one, so I brought it up officially and offered, the rest is history!

she gets annoyed at me because of my simplicity when it comes to certain things, if I have the conviction of my beliefs (on this I have), then there is nothing she can say or do to change me, and THAT perplexes her, does not compute....

women!
i can see why short-form texting is not for you

The right is more virtuous than the left. They have twice as many virtues because they have double the standards.

o no u dint!
Aria, arent you a chiropractor?

Do you know David or Danny Yachter? They are buddies of mine from Highschool.

tldr; stopped at first sentence. shit thread, shit poster.

Betting the OP reinforced he's a bitch and bitching about his wife being a bitch about family vacation.

wtb a man. it rubs the lotion on its hands.

So what did the wife decided? Good thread enjoying it here with my wife in Turkey when NO compromises are being made over here.

I feel for you Aria. I don't like my mother in law; she doesn't speak more than 2 words to her even; and yet she was invited to my daughter's 4th birthday party at the house...

...along with her ex-husband and his wife.

Oh yes this is going to be entertaining. I think I'm going to start drinking 2 days before.

And this is why I'll probably never be in a serious relationship. As I've posted before, I accept no compromises in my personal life (as I have to do in my professional life).

If this were me, there would be two options:

1. If I go with you, there will be NOBODY else along on this trip except our family.
2. If anybody else tags along, I will not be there.

Pick one.

Oh, there might be a third option after the shitstorm erupts:

3. Divorce.

But good luck collecting anything other than child support, because I will have insisted upon a prenup before we got married.

I just have zero tolerance for the kind of bullshit you spelled out. I wouldn't last more than a month in a serious relationship because it would be my way or the highway, LOL.

Quite the contrary. I work around people who bitch and moan about these same kinds of "domestic problems", or worse, hear all the bitching from people who are divorced multiple times, paying all their money to alimony, etc, and thank God I'm not trapped in that kind of hell.

While I don't doubt there are people out there in happy relationships, I do think they're in the minority (I really do). I think people get too wrapped around the axle of being FORCED or EXPECTED (partially by societal norms) to be in relationships, even ones that are bad for them. Couple that with disagreements about finances, and that leads to divorce and unhappiness. And I think a relationship is just as much about financial compatibility as emotional compatibility. So if you disagree about money, it's over before it even starts.

Boils down to...I'm just too independent to compromise. I love my financial freedom and independence, and quite honestly would never give it up. If I were ever in a serious relationship, she would have to be just as independent as I am, and willing to go off and do her own thing when she wants, just as I do. No clingy-ness allowed! I can't stand that. You want to go do somthing, go do it. If I feel like going along, I will, otherwise, go by yourself and enjoy yourself. I'll do the same.

Seems the problem is people, usually women but men too, are ready the cut the cords of the old family to make the new family successful.

When you get married, your family, is that person you married and whatever kids you have. Other relatives are 2nd.

My excuses - I didn't see it that way and thought you were very close minded and didn't see that people could be happy with each-other but it seems you are not.

For me personal I will admit I had my ups and downs in 12 years but I'm happy with the marriage but not with work and that suffers my marriage again now and then. I'm going off topic now and will stop here because its a whole other subject I guess.

It's interesting you brought up marriage vs work. I consider myself to have two lives. A professional life, and a personal life.

In my professional life (aka "work" / "job") I have to compromise. A lot. I HAVE to hold down a job, be where I'm told, when I'm told, do what I'm told, etc, etc, etc. My professional life consumes five days a week (sometimes more), easily over half my time, and is nothing but compromises.

What little remainder there is, my personal life, is mine. When I'm on my personal time, I don't compromise. I'm just unwilling to. I go where I want, when I want, and do what I want.

That kind of mentality is incompatible with probably 99.9% of all relationships out there, unless (as I mentioned earlier) the other person is just as fiercely independent. If I ever meet someone just like that, great. If not, that's okay, too. I've never been someone who feels they "MUST" be in a relationship to be happy.

I might change my mind if I can (semi?) retire in a few years. If I can ditch the compromises I have to make to a boss and job (or at least work for myself so I can control them), I might be willing to accept some compromise in a relationship. But as long as I have to give up a significant part of my life to a 9-to-5 sit-in-a-cube job, I'm just fiercely protective of my personal time and unwilling to compromise any of it away.

About the compromises at work I agreed its all I do at work and it makes me insane at moments, I also don't do after work stuff, getting a drink together or w/e bs they come up with.

But all the compromises and having a awe-full time at work makes me when I'm home in my "free" time do absolutely w/e I want, but that took some time in my 12 years that my wife agreed/adapted to it, example when she is going to her family for a coffee or something I go with her maybe twice a year when I feel like.

I believe that everybody can live similar like that from me or you but both need to work on it, on the other side I see a lot of people around me that can't agreed about anything with having some kids and divorce sooner or later and shit hits the fan.

wtf? Neecho, reading comprehension FTL? that's exactly what I gave her as instructions and she followed it. She didnt want to, but in the end she did.
I read your post a few times. Each time I started to get lost in your obviously drunken rant.

Then I came to one lone conclusion.

You're a fucking idiot.

you are capable of complex thought leading to conclusions?
Only read the last two posts in this thread.

The answer is no.

Peace out bitches.
can I have my five minutes back, please?
ohh, look! one of the woompa loompas from site development!

we are holding them for ransom, will be released back to you once TWL 2.0 is installed.

Aria you remind me of a woman from Michigan! Dumb and ugly!!!
