All I know is I have seen 5 NC's from the Canes and they could have had more. The only team in the NFL to go 17-0 and win back to back titiles. A Baseball team who won 2 titles and they are one of the youngest franchises. A Hockey team to play in the finals. A college Baseball team that won a few titles An NBA team with one of the GREATEST players to ever play and two titles and I have not even mentioned the Bucs, Lightning, Noles or Gators and their combined championships.
I would say Florida overall and its history as far as sports has done pretty damn good for themselves.
Not to mention all the amazing FB players who come from Florida.
Im a proud Florida sports fan.
Nobody is talking about the rest of Florida. Just Miami. & with all those Championships that you speak of, that makes it even worse knowing that none of them can draw a crowd.
Not saying Florida hasn't generated championships, but their history of being able to draw fans is horrible.
Stones, what the fuck do you want me to say? I live here and I love Florida. You want me to agree? I thought I did to some level. There is no real turnout because there are not so many local fans here. Its not because they are not fans. Its because they are not fans of Miami Teams.
Something like 60% of Miamians aren't even from the United States, so it makes sense they wouldn't have that natural, die-hard fan base that most other city's teams enjoy. I find it particularly bad that the University isn't drawing more though, with alumni connections and the history of that football program, its almost sad to see. Even with the horrible football team we've got this year, Kinnick will always have 70,000 fans and most of them are driving hours to make an 11 AM start. The University must be failing to build lasting relationships with their alumni.
I will say as a Dolphins fan since as long as I can remember, its been tough to love the Fins since Marino. I'm about one terrible QB away from calling myself an NFL Orphan, doomed to be alone without a team.
