Juror says he’s too homophobic and racist to serve, now faces prosecution

"I hold extreme prejudices against homosexuals and black/foreign people and couldn't possibly be impartial if either appeared in court. Therefore it would not be in the court's interest to have me a juror."

Which is already funny enough........but then the crowning jewel.

In addition, the man said that if he were selected, he also would not pay attention to the case and would simply vote with the majority.

Fuck being honest I guess......I give him credit for admitting to what most people will never be capable of.

Is it really better to let people omit such a truth......even if it isn't the truth?

He's probably not racist or homophobic, he's just trying to get out of jury duty.

I've served twice. Tried to get out of it the second time by anticipating that it was a criminal trial, and probably drug related. So I put on the jury questionnaire that I firmly believe all drugs should be legalized, and that if its a drug case, there is no way I could put aside my beliefs and find a drug offender guilty.

Well, turns out it was a civil trial and not drug related, so had to serve a second time.

Down the road, if I ever have property in two different states, I think that would be the perfect out. If you receive a jury summons in one state, just tell them you're moving out of state. Show the court clerk the mortgage, lease, utility bills, receipt for a PO box, whatever, from the other state to prove you're "moving" there. Even if you have to go so far as changing your drivers license to the other state, big deal. That's easy enough done. If you get a summons in the other state, do the same thing.

That's the part that confuses me. We are told to be honest our entire life and if we are too honest we can see that we will definitely be punished for it.

I think the biggest issue is they are going to prosecute this man...
