New music needed.

As anyone who has read the survivor post probably knows, I live in the middle of nowhere. I cancelled my satellite, and our only 2 radio stations are a classic rock and country (ugh).

So I like hard rock, and old metal. My favorite band is Iron Maiden, but I have pretty much all the music from that era.

For new bands, I don't minder hinder, at least some of their songs, they remind me of GnR, minus Axl's whiny voice. Of course, if you look up similar artists, you get nickelback, default, and theory of a deadman. None of those three sound anything like Hinder, and truth be told, I think calling those 3 similar is a bit of a stretch, as I'm pretty sure they are all identical.

Help a brother out.

Awolnation famous for the song Sail

Blue October - famous for going DEEP - shit happened by the singer and he made some songs about it.

Andy, I liked all of them except the monster magnet song, was sort of boring.

When I say though, that I want new music, I mean bands that are new, within the last few years, that are making good rock. I know it's a hard task, cause those of us who grew up in the 80s and loved that music have a tougher time appreciating newer music, and lets face it: it's because it just isn't as good.

But here are some songs from this decade that I don't at all mind.

It's funny that you say you only have 2 radio stations available. Since you're asking this question here I assume yo know what the internet is and I will now drop the bomb: You can listen to radio on the internet!!

Boom!
A friend of mine is in a band called Call me No One. It's with some guys from Sevendust, they're touring right now and are supposed to get some real air time around April. Keep an ear out for it.

Kind of nu metalish, not really my thing but Alan is a cool dude:

It's funny that you suggest I listen to radio online. Since you mentioned this here I will drop the bomb: listening to Internet radio at work over 3GS network is too fuckin expensive. Boom!!!

Seriously, I build houses, there is no Internet most places I work. So I listen to iPod, or the 2 radio stations. At home, I have 100 more interesting thing to do than listen to the radio.
Try IHeartRadio

its really nice
kind of trippy... while we were speaking of choice, i have so much music that i get stuck... going over and over music for what could be an hour, never listening to anything becuase of how much music or a choice i have.

That's too bad man. Cause here it costs nothing for data traffic of such a network. No "Boom!!!" needed, you're just fucked
DirtyRatFink did you listened to Awolnation yet?

whatever we tell you isn't going to matter anyways. you like 80s rock -- it isn't coming back. additionally, nickelback is awful.

regardless, zac brown band's new song "the wind" is pretty gnarly for some old country style tunes.

Now when you link something like Breaking Benjamin... is that the only song you've heard of them? I could list a couple dozen BB songs that I enjoy.

Here comes a list:

Alice in Chains (we die young, sea of sorrow, them bones, grind, could name a ton of their stuff)
Adelitas Way
Airbourne
All That Remains
Alter Bridge
Andrew WK
Audioslave (cochise, gasoline, man or animal, set it off, show me how to live)
Black Stone Cherry (lonely train, blind man)
Breaking Benjamin
Buckcherry (lit up, broken glass)
Chevelle (hats off to the bull, jars, letters from a thief, send the pain below)
Disturbed
Fair to Midland
Five Finger Death Punch
Foo Fighters
Godsmack
Gruntruck (tribe)
Halestorm
Hellyeah
Manowar (sons of odin, warriors of the world, sleipnir, battle hymn)
Monster Magnet (negasonic teenage warhead)
Nirvana (has some heavy stuff if you go out of the radio playlist)
Probot
Queens of the Stone Age
Rage Against The Machine
Rammstein
Red Line Chemistry
Saliva
Saving Abel
Shinedown (the old stuff)
Slipknot
Soundgarden

You obviously like GNR, so check out this entire concert.
If you haven't already seen it, it's incredible.
Worth converting the whole concert into a mp3 & listening to.
If you're a GNR fan, it doesn't get any better then this performance.
