Anyone hate Xmas like I do?
Im so fucking tired of xmas. I get no pleasure out of it. I know one year when I lived in Ft Lauderdale and my parents wanted me to come visit them in a city close to Tampa, I faked that I was sick so I did not have to go.

I just fucking hate the shit. People are so fake, my relatives who I never see the whole year I now have to go see and put an act like a little fucking monkey dancing to the accordian and tipping his little monkey hat. Fuck the shit, I put on 20 lbs in one day. I spend money I dont really have and I spend time with fuckers I could give a shit about.

I wish I was 12 again, that was the perfect time to celebrate xmas IMO.

Fuck all of you bah humbug!!!

I guess it could be worse. I could have a small package like Aria
Always did Christmas with immediate family. Except one year where we drove to my Aunt's place. My brother was sick all the way up (high fever and the hospital just went metric and sent my brother home with a 105F fever when we did the calculation ourselves later. Fortunately my mother was in nurses training and gave him a cooling bath) and I puked all the way home. Aunt snubbed my mother anyway for all our trouble.

When we stuck with immediate family it was fine.

Go to Costco and buy a pallet of Happy Holiday cards. I just saved you about $50,000 over the life of your life.

Tip please, not the pink kind.

No really, fuck it! I'm done with it this year. Here's your card, have a great holiday and I dont give a fuck what you give me next year for only getting you a card this year.

He wants to be 12 so that his age would match the small package he has now.
There was a time period when Christmas was a bummer...
I think it was from the tail end of high school to my late 20s.

It was a point in time when, sure, I'd have a blast hanging with my friends for various Christmas parties... but when it came to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the "magic" was gone.

Getting together with extended family, and later just immediate family (because the cousins started doing their own things)... staring at my siblings and exchanging token gifts of stuff because we had to do something.
It sucked.

After marriage, I had to split Christmases in two - Eve with my family, Day with her family... and to me, it was a hassle... drive far to get to one house, the next morning, drive further to get to another house.

PAIN
IN
THE
ASS

What changed was the kids... our first son was born when we were 28... after 4 years of marriage.
THAT was the game changer.

With the kids, Christmas became fun again.
It wasn't a bunch of adults staring at each other... it was us sharing wonderful Christmas memories with the kids.

It's still fun.

I dread the day when Christmas becomes like it was when I was in my late-teens to late-20s. It will probably be a longer period of time, since everyone starts getting married later, and having kids later.

I DEFINITELY dread the day I'm an old fuck and nobody is alive anymore to share Christmas with and/or the fucking kids move far, far away and do their own thing.

My one aunt... never got married, doesn't like leaving Queens to come out to visit anyone... She does Christmas alone... It kills me to think how sad and lonely that is.

We call... Merry Christmas.
Does she remember when we were kids, doing Christmas at my grandparents' townhouse, all the cousins running around screaming?
it's terribly sad...
The kids will be mooching off you at Christmas for a couple more decades at least. No rush for that empty feeling.
I wrote a post twice as long as mack's but then erased it.

Didn't wanna bring some more Debbie Downer in here.

My Grandpa died the night of the 17th. It's been a pretty depressing holiday season this year.
I think it's a combination of a few things.

I work for a retail supermarket so its so damn busy during the Holidays that by the time Im off, I just want to go home and chill. Even worse now that I am in managment. Most of my relatives who lived in Florida are dead. Two Grandmothers, 2 uncles and one aunt and my little brother. So now xmas is spent with people I just dont really care for or care to see on a day where you are supposed to enjoy it. I have one cousin who cries all the time about my mother if she send her kids cheap gifts. I have one brother who brings his guitar everywhere he goes and tells people he played with the Steve Miller band. My other brother just broke with his wife so now all of a sudden he is hanging around...of course prior to that, we never hear from him. On top of that, he brought his smelly fat fucking Lab dog to the house on Xmas morning. So there were three smelly sweaty fucking pooches walking around and my nephews mother has the fucking air off in a 6 bedroom house. I think it was the hi 70's or low 80's with no breeze. I wanted to get the fuck out of there and just go home and sleep. I had to work at 6am on monday.......sometimes I just want to run away and join the circus........or be a pirate or some shit
My kids make it fun. If it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't care.

When I was a kid I always felt bad that my parents didn't get anything and they would always tell me that watching us open presents was all they needed. I always thought they were full of shit but they were spot on. It's more fun now then it was back then I think.
to me xmas is always fine. i cant apologize for that.

even if I am in Antartica by myself, I will still have a good time. Reason is...I dont put a lot of stock into the calendar. I know there are just excuses to throw your hands in the air and do the polka, whatever rocks your boat. So, I just do what I want, and I can do THAT! then that is a good thing, hence a GOOD DAY, my friends.
A friend of mine was telling me last night about his Christmas this year. Nothing bad just strange funny stuff, his mother cooked a ton of food and had some of the family over, her brother, his uncle came from out of town, brought his dog and turned him loose in the house, dog jumped in the sofa and snapped at his mother when she tried to sit near it, uncle said "I told you thats the dog from hell" and laffed it off. Then one of the other family members was getting something to eat and his mother asked if anyone wanted anything and the uncle said he wasnt hungry right then but would like something for later and went out to his car and brought a grocery bag of his own tupperware in and proceeded to fill them all up, taking all the food that was left. The uncles 3 daughters all were extremely fat, pierced all over thier faces, excessive makeup and extremely tight "sexy" slutty clothes One of them went in the kitchen while everyone else was in the living room and ate ALL the cookies in the kitchen

It was a regular "Merry Christmas with the family" episode, I was ROFL while he was telling me

Can you? Something tells me you married into money. You met some fat spanaird and you fucked her sideways. She takes care of you while you suck her dry of her trust fund. You talk a agood game about living in Spain but thats cuz ur fat spanaird wife wanted to go home and be with her fam. So while she runs the business you play housewife and go boating, make alcoholic drinks while your kids are sleeping and then post on here how great your life is....

But its not. You are stuck in a marriage you hate and just do it cuz u like the money your wife's family provides u.

Enjoy Anartica, you are there and you don't even know it
Or I could be wrong LOL!!!!
My xmas was good. I got mouth present and cookies.

Everything else was just a plus.

Yep. Our family thinks like that. We have our immediate family gathering. We pretty much do it monthly anyways. But we watch the kids, then myself and two sisters dread having to go to the inlaws christmas because it is extremely fake. And if its not fake then people are fucking retarded, if they really act like that all the time I'm very grateful i don't have to see them very much. I hate having to go to my GF's extended family christmas's. The only one I enjoy going to is one of my on again off again ex's catholic chritmas partys. Everyone just gives each other a 20 gift then everyone gets blitzed. Much more realistic.

this is fubarely sad...

assign high value to material possession. Assume one dude has them because he is happy with what little he has, but in order to feel better about yourself, you imagine that he did not earn those things but won them somehow, free of work.

if it makes you feel better, go right ahead...and Merry Xmas!

now, seriously, you are in command of your emotions and ideas. Are you being responsible-disciplined with your thoughts. Do you feel resentment? regret? Do you focus in what you do not have? what others have? what others do? what you do not do?

change your thoughts and your life changes. it's that simple.

I partially agree. While it's not healthy to OBSESS over what other people have, I do think a little envy is healthy, to drive competition and the desire to improve your lot in life.

For example, I don't want money for money's sake. Money is just a tool that gives you more options. As much as we'd all like to believe the world works on love, rainbows, and gumdrop trees, the reality is, it works on MONEY. And the more you have, the more OPTIONS you have (notice I didn't say you were happier, just have more options).

With money as a tool, and the options it gives you, you can change your life drastically, and others lives also. I hate working for other people. Despise it. I hate being on other peoples' timetables and relying on them for my livelihood. I do envy what rich people "have", but not their money, I envy the greatly expanded options they have in their life, and their freedom.

I hope that one day in the next few years, I can earn enough so that I can have similar options and freedom. I would never (and I mean NEVER) work for anybody else ever again. I'd probably run my own business and call the shots, but I'd never report to anybody again, nor rely on them for my livelihood.

To quote Gordon Gecko, "Greed is good" but with a twist...a little greed is good, but again, not for money, but for the options it gives you. Too much greed is bad, and leads to obsession with money itself, which is destructive.

So I think you have to qualify greed and envy - such things aren't black and white. If somebody says they don't envy anybody or anything, then I have to wonder, are they truly in a state of pure bliss (I find that doubtful), or are they just stuck in a rut of acceptance of their status quo?

I'd have to believe a healthy person will envy SOMEBODY they know of. To not have a speck of envy or greed in ones life seems...unnatural and unhealthy.

I'll get off my philosophical soapbox now...

envy is a lesser emotion for it needs from others (and others' actions and/or possesions) first in order to live within you, it is dependent not unto-itself

thing is, and hear me out, if you need envy as a stimulator for your own desires then you need to seriously question why you need the aid.

I doubt you do. Perhaps you are confusing with envy with desire. Let's look at what wikipedia says:

"Envy (also called invidiousness) is best defined as a resentful emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another's (perceived) superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it."[1]"

there you have it. do you RESENT others? I doubt it. Why would you resent their success? beacuse their success precludes you from you reaching your own? if so, it would an understandable reaction, but I seriously doubt your 'success' is being cock-blocked by someone else crucial to the supposedly only road available leading YOU to your success, know wut I mean?

Can you be resentful of another person's success because they make you feel inadequate....which would then lead you to desire what they have? THEN THAT WOULD LEAD TO ENVY. (and the most common road traveled towards envy)

If there is no resentment, only desire, then that IS NOT ENVY. It is pure drive, desire, want, fire, passion...ALL needed to move fwd using positive energies.
