Some1 mentioned his name the other day in a thread here...and reminded me of him.

This guy, AH, had no "off" year, not a single one in all his life. You know how a lot of leaders have their down years or decades, and their up years or decades? well, this guy was connected full on from day 1 ALL THE TIME...and wtf was he? where did he come from?

Each person can add any tidbit about him that sounds interesting, here are mine:

1. Deputy Chief of Staff for General Douglas MacArthur (yes, THAT Gen MacArthur)

2. Helped Pres. Richard Nixon select the 17 journalist whose phones would be tapped.

3. Served in Vietnam and got the Distinguished Cross of Service.

4. Kissinger considered him "indispensable" as Deputy Assistent to National Security Affairs.

5. Was key in orchestrating the overthrow of Chile's Allende.

6. Many think he was Woodward's "Deep Throat"

7. Secretary of State for President Ronald Reagan.

8. When Reagan was shot, he claimed to the press "I am in control here, at the White House".

9. He was NATO COMMANDER and survived an assasination attempt during that time.

10. He died at 85 y.o. the "other day". He was involved in one way or anothe in EVERY major AMERICAN event in the second part of the 20th century....even Bay of Pigs...(not only Republicans), yes...he was asked to help "assimilate veterans from that incursion".

I know how your attitude would go over during my time and I just stated what would be done about it. It was a fact of life at the time. ...
I got to meet him back in the 80's. I remember how he carried himself.

He came to Ashland University to speak to a group of students including myself. He was very proud of the USA and I remember in some sense he reminded me of a historical figure like President Washington or Jefferson. Everything he seemed to say I also remember was very methodical and thought out. I don't remember him feeling like a politician.

Is shaking his hand considered meeting him?
I've shaken hands with Corzine, Whitman, Christie... That's meeting... didn't talk to them, well, I talked to Corzine, but it was because he was filming a commercial... I think the back of my head was shown in the commercial... y'know, about the guy bullshitting that he was concerned about healthcare.

Speaking of Corzine. Is he guilty? I heard he is facing some significant jail time

He's an asshole...

He came into the pharmacy, wanted to speak to me with his cameras and shit for the commercial... I expressed my concerns about the PBMs, mail-order, and community pharmacy as a whole (not just independents)... Guy nodded, said "Really? I didn't know that, as a businessman, I can see why you're concerned!"

Bullshit.

Got into a car accident a year later. GOOD!

edit:
I still voted for the other guy... but the town where the pharmacy was in is VERY Blue... hell, the head Capo of the Democratic party here in Jersey has his offices a block down the street.
