This guy is right... and that's why Obama may win 2012.

That's the problem with the ultra-right conservatives... if anyone seems too moderate, the nutjobs won't support them...

What the nutcases don't realize is that MOST of the country isn't as crazy as they are... and it will lose whomever sucks up to them the election (did that sentence make any sense?)
Except Romney & Perry aren't all that right-wing given their policies, yet they poll well.

Cain was a moderate and lost.

Dole was a moderate and lost.
McCain was moderate, but he sucked up to the ultra-conservative base and selected Palin (who would have otherwise appealed to the nut-base - if she weren't so stupid)... Palin's selection killed McCain in the moderate's eyes... they turned to Obama, who said he was moderate (although his actions say otherwise)

Bob Dole?
Hi, I'm Bob Dole... I take Viagra.
Need I say more? Dole was "moderate", but as lively as a square marble.
Our country is pretty much fucked at this point no matter who is in charge. Too many greedy assholes who don't care about the American populace at large. Let's just ride it out and hope a zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, or world war breaks out that will probably help to get our "leaders'" heads out of their asses.

Because a global crisis which would threaten our complete well-being is the ONLY thing that will work at this point IMO.

Obvious post is too obvious.
True, but Christie is a typical Northeast Republican. He may actually be just moderate enough to steal piles of votes from Obama.

He could very well win NJ.

IF he did, and the big player-swing states went Republican instead of to Obama as they have ni their 32 year trends, you'll end up with a 275-263 defeat of Obama:

http://www.270towin.com/2012_election_predictions.php?mapid=cxt

That's if: Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania(not likely), Ohio & Indiana all go Red.

Pennsylvania is a big if, so is New Jersey, but you never know. Nevada & New Mexico could go red for an additional 11 EVs and if that happaned and Obama won Pennsylvania, the Republican would only have to take all of Nebraska, which is likely to happen this next election and still see a Republican win by 271-267:

http://www.270towin.com/2012_election_predictions.php?mapid=cxu

Of course, that's all based on the moderates and swing voters NOT voting for Obama the next time around. VT/NH might swing, but not likely (I think).

Worse case (if you want Obama out): ~310-228 Obama win somehow taking Ohio and Indiana again.
You assume too much.

Christie has a popular following... most of which is NOT in New Jersey.

Poor guy has managed to piss off everyone in every union... The police, the teachers, the Longshoremen, the Locals... he's not that popular amongst union and government workers (which is most of the State).

That being said, even the more moderate/conservative types like me... He's a great guy, a no-nonsense leader who doesn't seem to bow down to the special interests... but he goes off and does this:

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/05/gov_christie_arrives_at_sons_h.html

TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie arrived at his son's baseball game this afternoon aboard a State Police helicopter.

Right before the lineup cards were being exchanged on the field, a noise from above distracted the spectators as the 55-foot long helicopter buzzed over trees in left field, circled the outfield and landed in an adjacent football field. Christie disembarked from the helicopter and got into a black car with tinted windows that drove him about a 100 yards to the baseball field.

So.. he uses a State Police helicopter to fly from Trenton to Morristown (a 1.5hr drive by car - 2 hours tops) and not only does he use the helicopter... he gets a limo to drive him 100 yards from the copter to the game.

What's that shit?

That pissed off many of the supporters... Everyone was saying "He shouldn't have done that"
You can't talk the tough talk, and not walk the 100 fucking yards to the boys game after flying a state helicopter for no fucking reason.

edit:
as much as I like the guy... his actions still tell me he's more of the same (but I'd rather have him doing the same than... um... our current POTUS)

Well, if they made up even a marginal portion of the Republican voting base, I'd say you have a point.

But they are almost always blue-voters, and we both know this to be true.

ESPECIALLY in NY, NJ, PA and Ohio.
why has DR. Paul received more money from US military personnel than anyone else? Paul is going to win if and when the MSM finally lets him get the coverage.

It won't win him NJ, though... He won NJ with the Police Union support, but that didn't last too long... it was fortunate that the Police Union hated Corzine more than Christie during the election.

Perhaps. But there are still several scenarios in which he could win even if he loses NJ and PA.
so... am i a racist if i dont approve of Cain?

Do you ever ask yourself, why would Paul want to be President now? Its to late, the party is over, the ship is going down and there are two life vests.

I would not wish this next Presidency on SammySoc.

Is Paul stupid or does he think he can change things. The answer is probably no and yes. Reality is, yes and no.

Only if you're not a Democrat.
If the economy remains the way it is Obama will lose in a landslide.

It doesn't matter if Christie is fat and took a helicopter to his kid's game one time...

what?

sorry, i couldnt read your post with all this racist shit in my eyes.
Moderate smoderate.....right wing zealot smellit....

Want to win the 2012 election? Follow the fucking Constitution!!!!

If you want to fund all sorts of stupid shit, but don't know how, or whether you should.....look at the fucking Constitution. Article 1, Section 8 being a damn fine starting point.

Most rational individuals are sick to fucking death of dogmatic ideologues who promise everything under the sun, have spread this country way too thin, in way too many directions, only to have essentially bankrupted this once fine nation.

If you love never ending nation building abroad and unjust wars that you can no longer afford to fund......refer to the fucking Constitution. Or vote D or R....

If you love an endless welfare economy that promotes little incentive between working 60+ hours a week at a shit job and staying at home smoking dope all day.....refer to the fucking Constitution. Or vote D or R....

If you love a monetary system that is being continually manipulated by the top 1% of this country.....at the direct expense of everyone else through a declining standard of living.....undermine the Federal Reserve and refer to the fucking Constitution. Or vote D or R....

But if homos getting married (or not) and serving in the military (or not) is your primary pillar in life.....not to mention you have a lust for vast economic insolvency.....

Then continue voting for anything that has a D or an R next to it.

Otherwise....refer to the fucking Constitution. It's ok to admit that the government in this country has bitten off way more than it could ever possibly chew and that the only answer is to streamline and cut back their responsibility.

Or we can keep on forging full speed ahead, straight off a cliff, in the opposite direction.....

SS, would you like to respond to this accusation?

We had a freak rainstorm the other day in the desert and a few dozen houses in the bottom of a dry lake bed had their yards flooded out.

One guy lost his fence....the other his yard shed.

The city council today was talking about how, or if, they could somehow qualify for FEMA relief funding.

This is how bad things have gotten....every facet of our "individual" existence, not to mention economic behavior, is somehow directly tied to the Federal Government in this country today.

The idea of self accountability....community involvement.....and individual determination all seem to have flown right out the fucking door in the past few decades.

He has become their Lord Voldemort for some reason.

Well try to imagine working for one of these media companies. They work very hard trying to come up with absolute non-sense to spoon feed the idiotic masses.

Here comes Paul making too much sense, the viewers brains would probably not understand. Paul is from Mars to most people. That's the problem.

Seriously......it's the reason that guy got booed on the last GOP debate I watched.

Fanatical Christians keep focusing on the stupidest shit imaginable while the country is burning around them.

Obama helps private companies receive trillions in Federal "bailout money" and all fanatical Christians can talk about is Roe Vs. Wade or his "birth certificate".

Obama starts more unjust wars in Libya, Yemen, and Pakistan and all fanatical Christians can talk about is "queers getting hitched".

The economy is diving head first into the shitter.....The Federal reserve is monetizing our debt....inflation if going through the roof....the unemployed are giving up.....as is everyone else....and all fanatical Christians can talk about is "queers serving in the military".

Seriously......it's almost like they love to derail their own train. They get so caught up in the hyper nuanced details, the micro aspect, that all ultimately comes down to individual choice, that they can't smell that the entire fucking place is a blaze.

Rabble Rabble Rabble....."I can't believe Obama is playing such a gay song."

Instead of....."THE FUCKING BUILDING WE ARE LIVING IN IS ON FIRE."

That is exactly the problem....

A guy on MSNBC said it best....

He said that people aren't voting on policies as much as they are voting for a person they like. America isn't about deductive reasoning....it's about popularity.

We have become one big ass version of "American Idol".

I just hope we can elect someone who sings a lovely tune when this big fucking failboat sinks to the bottom of the Ocean.

It would depend on the reason why. While the "race card" might be overused by some during an argument as some type of trump card when they are debating a sensitive issue with someone, there continue to be people who are heavily influenced by their prejudices.

Making conclusions on the basis of prejudice does a disservice to yourself and to the issues that are important.

point of clarification: the audience booed his question, not him. if they were booing him for being a gay soldier, they would have started booing when he said he was a gay soldier. the booing didnt start until he asked his question.

Mockery, I disagree... The 2-3 people who "booed" him wasnt because he was gay, it was because of the question he asked Lets be clear about this: you can support the troops but you can also not support the policy at the same time. Democrats should understand that as I stood ground for them for their support of me while I fought in Iraq, but not Bush's policy that put me there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L3SvUzlhuA

Its at 2:38 mark of the video. If they were booing him, it would have been long before he even finished his question.

The funny thing about gays is how the democrats try so hard to act if gays are accepted and rail on republicans for it but they dont dare say shit to one of their largest voting blocs: Blacks. They are definitely anti-gay. Prop 8 anyone?

Why do gays and democrats tolerate the discrimination of Blacks Americans towards gays?

Anyone?

Bahhh....the idea of booing anyone fighting over there in that shithole, for asking any question, is frankly absurd in my mind.

They are the ones constantly preaching god and country......yet the have the audacity to boo someone, who they directly believe to be shedding blood to uphold those principles, because he asks a simple question that they just don't like.

Like I said...I don't get it. I don't even care to get it. It distracts from the bigger picture to even allow oneself to get tied up in such adolescent drama IMO.

Fair enough...I get a better understanding of this stance now. The timing really is important for this one.

I'm just so fucking sick of social engineering in this country. The conversation is going nowhere and it really just needs to end. Trying to prove why people hate each other is an outright act of futility. Dislike really does happen in all directions, at all times, for all sorts of unjustifiable, or even justifiable, reasons. It just seems like so much effort, that could obviously be better served elsewhere (like anywhere), is being wasted on this topic.

Pfft. People who would disciminate against him for that wouldn't vote for him even if he were Obama's size.

In other words - the sympathetic, compassionate Democrats would only turn a blind eye for one of their own.
