Underground nuclear facility found?

According to some ppl on the boards, FOX is a "gov't run" news agency, so this story is probably propaganda. /sarcasm
From the above link:"While they aren't prepared to say the discovery is the smoking gun proving Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction, Fox News confirmed that officials are very interested in the labyrinth of labs and warehouses unearthed by U.S. forces. "

It's either a nuclear lab, or it isn't, I'm sure we'll find out one way or the other.

Of course- this local lefty has always said that it's a sure thing that Saddam has/had banned weapons.....in fact- I don't think anyone ever denied that here on this board.....

This is scary though. That much radioactive material could have been used for dirty bombs in the least. Right there is enough reason we invaded to begin with
"Could have been"

That's the operative phrase there. First Bush says we need to invade because of the al-queda link, which never materialized, then it was because of WMD, which UN inspectors would have found anyways, but now it's to liberate the Iraqi people. Of course, 3 months down the road, they will be rioting for us to leave.

No, Cimat, no one has denied it...but the UN has failed to find something of this importance in the 12+ years following Gulf War I. That simply means you couldn't have trusted UN inspections to do the job. If the Iraqis don't want something found (i.e. an underground facility packed full of radioactive crap) then it won't be found. We even TOLD the UN to search this location before, and they missed it. No, the UN inspections weren't working, and this is proof. 12 _years_ and stuff like this is still out there. You can't call that a success for the UN.

i have never once heard bush say we need to invade iraq due to al queda ties alone.

Couldn't find any thing? That's laughable- reference the link: http://www.un.org/Depts/unscom/Achievements/achievements.html

48 operational long-range missiles

- 14 conventional missile warheads

- 6 operational mobile launchers

- 28 operational fixed launch pads

- 32 fixed launch pads (under construction)

- 30 missile chemical warheads

- other missile support equipment and materials

- supervision of the destruction of a variety of assembled and non-

assembled "super-gun" components

CHEMICAL AREA:

- 38,537 filled and empty chemical munitions

- 690 tonnes of chemical weapons agent

- more than 3,000 tonnes of precursors chemicals

- 426 pieces of chemical weapons production equipment

- 91 pieces of related analytical instruments

BIOLOGICAL AREA:

- the entire Al-Hakam, the main biological weapons production facility

- a variety of biological weapons production equipment and materials

******************************

Inspections DO work- the proof is listed above. Bush's constant bleating that they don't work is just pure, unadulterated bullshit. Bush is a liar.

well see how well inspections didnt work, the systems looks good on paper but is majorly flawed in real life.
since the host country did everything it possibly could to hamper the inspectors their presense effect was minimal. for them to work the host country needs to agree and abide by them which iraq did not

***EDIT****
mobile bio labs are being reported to have been found in Baghdad

EXACTLY. THE UN IS WORTHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
cimat. grow up. you liberals were wrong. live with it.
Yes- they did everything they could- and we still found and destroyed a huge amount from 1991-1998.

Then, under UN1441, the inspectors go back in under *an even stronger mandate*, and Bush declares the inspections a failure after they have only barely begun- even though the inpsectors reported good cooperation from the Iraqi's.

LMAO. They had 6000 inspectors. They couldnt accoutn for thousands upon thousands upon thousands of things. You list is bogus. It doesnt show what they knew was there and couldnt find. And we also now know that FRance, Russia and Germany were breaking the UN resolutions and sending stuff.

We contain dicators all over the world- why should he be any different. Bush is doing this for oil.

Remember, Saddam was Reagans butt-buddy during the 1980's, so it was ok that he was a poison gas using madman then.

Bush Sr and Jr don't give a rats ass about saddam's human rights record....

OMG thats such an idiotic statement that keeps getting repeated over and over , you sound like a broken record. first let me explain some very simple economics to you, why does the USA get them ajority of its oil from this side of the planet??? ITS CHEAPER - less shipping time means less costs, that is why the middle east is not our primary source of oil and never will be. This bullshit war for oil campaign is unmerrited and substantiated, its the liberal tree huggers cry to arms based on biased opinions and absolutly NO facts. you guys need to get off your partisan politics and face facts that what we are doing is the right thing no matter who controls the whitehouse

well, inspections were proven to work and we went anyway and Im quite sure it wasnt for liberation of a ppl. thats just the candy coating to make it much more palpable to the fickle american public. the administration's political adgenda is the true reason we went there. not sure if it was for oil but I wouldnt be surprised if that were true

ya and i bet if this happened under clinton or any other democrat there would be no suspicions or alterier motives behind it. and no cimat i wont chill , i really am sick of you spurting this war for oil crap. i respect you as a person for standing up for what you beleive in but there is no proof that we are doing this for oil, as i pointed out above it doesnt make sence economically for our country and i honestly cant believe you think bush would US soldiers to war for personal gain

I personally think that its the start of american reform in the middle east. I believe democracy is great but its not our responsibility or perogrative to force it on them. especially with bombs. that said, its looking like at least a marginal amount of iraqi ppl are happy to be free of the oppressive regime. hopefully that number will grow.

question tho, if we are liberating the mid east, why are we not talking about liberating israel from their violent, colonizing, imperialistic govt. hmmm....
