Black President, Double Standard: Why White Liberals Are Abandoning Obama

Electoral racism in its most naked, egregious and aggressive form is the unwillingness of white Americans to vote for a black candidate regardless of the candidate’s qualifications, ideology or party. This form of racism was a standard feature of American politics for much of the twentieth century. So far, Barack Obama has been involved in two elections that suggest that such racism is no longer operative. His re-election bid, however, may indicate that a more insidious form of racism has come to replace it.

Still, electoral racism cannot be reduced solely to its most egregious, explicit form. It has proved more enduring and baffling than these results can capture. The 2012 election may be a test of another form of electoral racism: the tendency of white liberals to hold African-American leaders to a higher standard than their white counterparts. If old-fashioned electoral racism is the absolute unwillingness to vote for a black candidate, then liberal electoral racism is the willingness to abandon a black candidate when he is just as competent as his white predecessors.

I'm not crazy about his "kiss-ass-look-at-me-tryng-to-be-bi-partisan-while-they-publically-condemn-my-ass-at-every-chance" approach...or the way he went about universal healthcare, or the fact Gitmo is still open, or the way we still have troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan...

Come to think of it...I might not vote for Obama again. I'm pretty sure it's better to say your policy is THIS, and go with THIS, than it is to say you would do THIS and not do anything close to THIS.

I still say he was the better option than the, even remotely possible, President Palin option.

- He said he'd work through partisan politics and work together with the other side.. haha... RIGHT! (NOT!)

I mean, the guy spent his first two years blaming everything on Bush and bullying Universal Health Care through both the House and Senate because they had the supermajority...
Then, the Dems lost the House, and they're blaming it on Bush and the Tea Party for stalling negotiation...

I LOVE this video for 2 reasons.

1) First it's a great shot at the unrealistic expectations of Obama supporters. As if to say, "Yes, I expected him to do all THIS".

2) Second, it's a great shot at the unrealistic expectations of Obama opposition. As if to say, "Unless Obama fulfill all THIS, he is a failure as a President".

If I can't find someone who I agree with on the issues most important to me....then I refuse to vote anymore.

When I find that person, like I did this year, I'm penciling them onto the ballot whether they are a certified candidate or not.

Which is why I asked the question about if voting for Obama would be any different than voting for a Republican.

It's also the biggest point of confusion I have for Republican "hate" against Obama. Outside of Obama-care, I really can't think of much that Obama hasn't done that Republicans don't want.

Now stick with me here, it gets tricky:

Republicans want X. Obama wants to compromise. Republicans say no. Obama goes ahead with X as is (Bush tax cuts). Now because Obama "supports" something Republican, Republicans fight him on it and bitch about the state of the U.S.

This guy can't win. So it seems. If only he would STOP trying so fucking hard to be bi-partisan, figure out they are NOT going to like him no matter what he does and start pushing his own "promised" agenda. I really hope, if he wins a second term, this is what he does.

There are members of Congress who want nothing more than to get rid of this President as fast as possible.

If Herman Cain get the republican nomination I expect all democrats to vote for Cain or else they are racist. Obama is only half black. When Cain becomes president I expect all democrats to support all policies he puts forward or else they are racist.
