I've had Elk, Moose, Goose, Venison, Bass, Bat, Alligator and Muskrat. (Most eaten at game dinners.)

My favorite is moose and my least favorite is the muskrat. Muskrat tastes exactly like what you would think it would... the filth it swims, lives in and eats.
Iv eaten a lot of game meats, weirdest stuff has to be rattlesnake, shark, alligator, and ostrich.
weirdest for me would be alligator, and raccoon (in Bayou Pidgeon Louisiana). I have had Shark once too, but I do not remember what kind of shark it was.

I forgot I had rattlesnake. How was yours prepared?
Mine was just fried.

I love shark steak.

How was your Ostrich? I hear it's amazing, but I've never had it.

I've always wanted to eat a whole ostrich egg omlette.

Raccoon!? How was it made?

What did it taste like?

It was actually not bad, grilled and marinated (though not sure in what). It was a little tough, but as bad as some meats I have tried.
My rattlesnake was fried. As for the ostrich I had bought some at the store, it tasted pretty good, but boy does it stink. I don't think I would buy it again or at least not cook it inside. Took forever for the smell to go away.
Sea Cucumber.

/end thread.
Horse.

A delicacy in Japan that I was unaware of until I was told by my translator.

Even the fish eyes I was served on the DMZ in South Korea pales in comparison, heh.

Salmon roe, sea bass roe, sea cucumber, barracuda, snails, beef tripe, ackee fruit, beef tongue, skate wing....

I think I've eating a lot of things out of the normal "comfort range"... I don't consider ostrich to be out of the ordinary... but Fuddrucker's by me has had it on their burger menu for the past 15 years.

- Tongue? Go to a Kosher deli.
- Barracuda I had ceviche-style on a failed fishing charter in Mexico many many years ago (only thing we caught was the stupid barracuda).
- Snails? Both as escargot and chinese style in the black bean sauce... not really out of the ordinary.
- Ackee fruit in Jamaica... their national dish. Ackee and Saltfish... it's really good... saltfish is just bacalao... salted cod.
- Unscrupulous restaurants will substitute skate wings for scallops... because they taste like scallops. But we actually caught a skate on year in Raritan Bay, and cooked it up.. Quite good.
- Salmon roe, yeah.. sushi.
- Sea Bass roe... well... I steam up the whole fish with ginger, soy sauce, and garlic... and if it has eggs, they steam up yummy
- Sea cucumber... for some reason, the old chinese people think it's good. I think the texture is like sucking on cooked fat. Makes me throw up a little in my mouth thinking about eating it.

edit:
I ate horse in France, when I was in high school.
umm.... I don't remember what I did with it, but I saw Chevaux on the menu, and ordered it... I was stupid back then.

never tried Bear, moose, muskrat or raccoon, add wild game birds, like turkey, doves, quail, snipe, woodcock (yeah, I put that on here) Wild pork, squirrels, rabbits and you almost cover the basics
Jellyfish, mmmmmm...
Beef Tripe
Chicken Feet
Quail (too gamey for my liking)
Sharkfin Soup (good stuff!)
Abalone
Alligator

If I think of more, I'll add to my list. I'm sure I'm missing some things.

You are the first, and only, person out of maybe 2 or 3 dozen that I know of who has tried gator and not liked it.

I wonder if it was the manner in which it was prepared that caused your dislike.
