DELANO, Calif. -- A Central California man who was at a cockfight died after being stabbed in the leg by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb, officials confirmed Monday.

Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, of Lamont, was declared dead at a hospital about two hours after he was injured in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30, the Kern County coroner said.

An autopsy concluded Ochoa died of an accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf.

Well to be fair it was probably a rooster, not a chicken.

My friends father had chickens for a while, and the rooster was always a mother fucking asshole who would try to intimidate whoever he could all the time. He'd go up to people and act like he was going to slash them with his feet.

He got smashed with a shovel so many times, and never learned at all. Eventually their bull terrier got attacked and ripped the roosters head off. We never did find the head.

some roosters have sharp spurs and some dont. In a staged "cockfight" they fasten metal spurs to the roosters that fit over the roosters real spurs and are tied on with string. They vary in length from 2" to . . I've seen em 3" - 3.5" long and they are needle sharp designed to puncture. The Philippine spurs Ive seen are almost like a slender hook knife with one side being sharp as a razor designed to slice. Ive been to many cockfights way back when and seen thousands of dollars pass hands in the betting. Interesting but illegal
