What energy supplement do you use?

for those of you that work out, do you use an energy supplement? if so, which one.

I've been using xenadrine - which is really just coffee in a pill...but it is getting to me because of the cost. Curious if anyone here has good first hand knowledge of something better and/or cheaper.

I ordered some ephedrine pills from Canada. 10mg per pill.
Also got some caffeine pills. 200mg per pill.
Use those with fish oil to sub for aspirin for the ECA stack (which is mostly what all the supps try to mimic).

Much safer using the pure stuff and mixing on your own, rather than the premade shit pills that use god knows what.
I normally don't use anything - I just try to eat somewhat close to maybe perhaps good.

But I was given two samples of "Dymatize Nutrition's - Xpand Extreme Pump" its got Mr Brock Lesnar on the front. I only used one sample. Its one serving per sample but I split the sample into two servings. Holy crap I tweeked out that stuff works!

I do not recommend Jack'd. Expensive and nothing more than caffine. People rave about it but I tried it and read mixed reviews. Did nothing for lifting and when I tried it before a cardio workout all it did was cause me to gas out.

The stuff I loved was Amp'd by Dymatyze, but they discontinued it without notice or giving reason. Might have something to do with the new laws about supplements.

One of the best things I have tried is 5 hour energy. Has caffine, but I do get a sustained energy and it works for me if I take it 1.2 hour before cardio or weights.

If you buy it BJ Wholesale you can get them in bulk for $1.25 a shot.

You can also go to http://www.bulknutrition.com They allow users to post feedback on suppliments, like Amazon. It can be helpful to see reviews by others.

Some useless posts there fellas. Thanks. Might as well just say Centrum Silver /eot.
Coffee or tea.

Haven't really tried an energy supplement. I did find that I have more energy when I remember to take a multivitamin in the morning.

I like the Solgar brand Omnium multivitamin.
http://www.solgar.com/SolgarProducts/Omnium-Tablets.htm

I don't know what phytonutrients are, but it sounds good. Whenever I pee after taking that vitamin, my urine is a healthy bright yellow/orange color.
Solgar isn't as good as it used to be. The fact that your piss is bright means you're just passing everything through. Bluebonnet is similar in price to Solgar but their vitamins are much better.

I'm interested in this too.

I just started a workout regimen that I'm actually sticking to for once in my life.

I started February 1st, so this is the beginning of week 2. I'm only currently taking creatine and protein supplements to start, with the main focus on increasing daily calories (the biggest bitch imo, especially when money is tight). I just can't seem to afford or find time to fit in 4-6 decent sized meals a day =
From what I've been told and read, balanced diet and adequate sleep are the largest factors for energy and effective gains. Both of which are my biggest problem areas (I'm lucky to get 5 or 6 hours of sleep most week nights).

bodybuilding.com has a huge amount of articles on all subjects health related, and the forums there seem to have some people with some sense in them as well.

Here's a thread on this very topic I found over there, with a lot of detailed information on different guy's favorite 3 supplements: Bodybuilding.com: What Are Your Top 3 Supplements?

Yes, but Solgar is in NJ, and I have a direct account, so I get them at wholesale.

edit:
And, yes, I understand that whatever my body isn't absorbing, I'm passing it through my urine. Happens when the vitamins give doses above and beyond the recommended daily allowance. Happens with Centrums.

They do have, and I've tried chelated vitamins... Vitamins chelated to some protein for better absorbtion.
It's bullshit, same result... if I remembered to take them.

This is very misleading. If someone is actively taking supplements that include vitamin B2 and their urine remains clear this means the supplements are not being broken down effectively at all.

In *most* cases, urine changing color to bright yellow is a direct result of excess vitamin B2- which is easy to do with just one vitamin tablet and a normal diet. Just because you body reaches it's peak vitamin B requirements through a vitamin supplement and changes the color of your urine to bright yellow, this does not equate to passing everything through. In fact your body may be absorbing or benefiting from the other great vitamins depending on your diet and other conditions.

Good luck man, just remember it's not so much of a "routine" as it is a lifestyle change.

As far as the calories go, I was in the same boat as you when I started, the gym work was the easy part, finding the time to sit down and actually eat 6 times a day seemed impossible.

One thing that really helps me is the old lady cooking up a few bags of chicken breasts/steaks/bags of brown rice/steamed vegetables in advance.

Then and on Sunday I pre assemble my meals for the week in those little plastic containers.

I always keep a tub of oats and some peanut butter/wheat bread/almonds at work for some high calorie snacking between meals.

Buy in bulk, buy cheap/generic when you can, cook up anything you can in advance and you will be surprised how easy it is to eat in a calorie surplus without resorting to junk food.

I used to take ripped fuel back when I wanted to get shredded. They banned the main ingredient. Aspirin with coffee was another way to get energy

I've taken the Extreme pump with lesnar too, it pumped me up and me shit 3 times. It also has cheap creatine in it.

Done VPX No Shotgun, but imo, just too many ingredients in there and might contradict each other.

THings like monster make you feel bloated.

Natural pump, if you need a pump, 5 hr energy. IF you just need some lasting energy, consider eating fruit 1 hr before hand or add a carb mix to your pre-workout protein.

Actually healthy is more like a pale yellow to clear

Yes, but does pale yellow to clear urine have that OMG! YOU TOOK TOO MUCH VITAMINZZZZ!!! smell? You know, when your piss REAKS of Geritol?

I think NOT!
phytonutrients are simply nutrients derived from plants.

i.e. phytosterols are plant alcohols

They can cause your piss to turn bright yellow, but it's not a sign of danger as it would be otherwise, which would indicate renal problems.

Feverfew, a common plant supplement used to control migraines causes yellow piss.

I have used Xenadrine and Hydroxycut to cut weight for the summer years ago. It works, but I felt terrible most of the time and had trouble sleeping. Anyway, the ephedrine/aspirin/caffeine stack was the best combination for me when I needed the extra boost. Terrible for your heart if you abuse it though.

Mofo, here's a link to your last thread.

I'd be a hypocrite if I told you to stop using Xenadrine because its bad for you. I just hope that you're using it for a short period of time and not just for pre-workout energy.

I haven't touched a bottle in years now, but I'm pretty sure its only recommended for 4-6 weeks for each cycle.

Maybe they don't have those warning labels on it anymore.
Very rarely do I need energy supplements for working out. The best energy increaser I use is my Ipod. I was just using the gyms music, but since I created my workout playlist, my workouts have gotten so much more intense.

And on the few occasions I need a little extra boost, half a bottle of 5hr energy will do. I find the b vitamins sustain for the workout duration. I've done the NO stuff and get real pumped for 30 minutes then fall off big time.

I agree with this suggestion. A bottle to half a bottle is a great sustained boost. Get it very cheap in buld at BJ Wholesale for $1.25 a bottle.

Dymatzye has made great products in the past, but I am not up on their current product since they seem to have stopped making Amp.
