wec 53 - Recap

Pretty good night of fights, but some more finishes would of been better for the last WEC card. But they were pretty even matches. Can't wait to see what the UFC does with the new lighter weight divisions.

Pettis vs Benson was a good fight, but Benson didn't impose his will at all. Nice Ninja kick off the cage from Pettis, never seen that before.

Cruz over Jorgensen by dec, knew that. in Cruz's last 7 wec fights, he's had 1 fight not be a decision. He's good and bounces around, but seems to have very little power. Cruz is damn good though. Never even loses a round.

Cerrone over Horodecki by sub. Horodecki is good, but not good enough to be above his weight. He needs to slim down to 145 or 135. He has some body fat and just can't handle the bigger guys.

Kamal over bart via dec. Bart let Kamal impose his will too much. Kamal swings for the fences and it seemed like bart's plan was to let him tire himself out, but by the time that happened, he was too tired to truly capitalize. 5 rnd fight, maybe, but in a 3 rnd fight, you need to go for glory.

Overall good night of fights though. Bye bye wec and welcome UFC with 7 weight classes. Should be more interesting next year. a few less free fights now, but the ufc cards should be more stacked with 7 belts and more, top 10 fighters(since there's the top 10 of each weight class).
OMFG, that kick is both impressive and hilarious. Imagine the taunting he would have gotten had he not landed it. Way to take a risk and bring home the win.

Solid night of fights. I guess the un-aired undercard was supposed to be fantastic as well.

Cruz was just dominant. He may not be a big finisher, but he looked pretty much flawless in beating Jorgensen. His fight reminded me a lot of the beating that GSP put on Koscheck. It was just clinical. By round 3 you could tell that Jorgensen was just lost. I'll really be looking forward to Cruz vs. Faber if that fight happens.

The Bendo-Pettis fight was fantastic. I had it at 2 rounds a piece entering the 5th and they both went for it. I agree that Henderson just didn't do enough to impose his will on Pettis other then in the first, although he looked really close to finishing a rear-naked in the 4th. That kick was just awesome. What was almost as amazing was that Henderson stayed conscious.

Horodecki should be at 145 at least. He just didn't really belong in there with Cerrone.

I'll miss the WEC. Almost every card they had was action packed and high quality. At least the UFC's should be better quality now with the best bantam and feather weights now.
