Hmmm, my Canes will probably lose 2-3 games again this year. i think they have the talent this year to go to a bowl game and be in the top 5 at the end of the year but I am just not sold on their head coach. I think he is a great recruiter but I think he is not so good as a head coach. They have to play at OSU the second week of the season, they get a bye and then play at Pitt and Clemson, back to back. Those are the tough games for them. Pitt and Clemson have turned out to be good FB teams. They will be tough. They play 6 teams who are ranked in the top 25 (preseason poll).

I can't wait for that BSU/VT match up. I have ZERO respect for Boise state. They went from one shit conf to another shit conf. They beat VT and they will go undefeated. i seriously doubt that. I think VT exposes those fuckers and Stones will have to STFU......jk Stones

Gators will be in the SEC title game again against probably the team that will give them their only loss of the season in Bama. They play at Bama but their schedule is a joke this year.

OSU has to play UM the second week of the season and they play at the Badgers and Iowa. If they win those games, they are legit. They will be in the title game.

Texas has some talent, so do the Gators and Auburn. Bama's offense returns a shit load of starters but their defense is gonna be very green. Saban will have his work cut out for him.

I like the Gators or Auburn versus Texas or OSU in the title game. If BSU beats VT, that prediction means doo doo.

SEC still pwns all..........

I think OSU has a legit chance to make the title game this year. I think the Miami game will be tough, but I think we can easily win that game by 10+. Jacory gets flustered way too fast and our dline is a beast this season. I got my ticket and ready for that game, so pumped. If Miami cant establish a running game earlier theyre boned.

I think our toughest game will easily be against Wisconsin, im just not sold on Iowa this season, I think Iowa goes 8-4 or 9-3. Especially since im now hearing their RB isnt expected back this season, and they lost a lot on defense. Iowa seems to have a really good seaosn every 3-4 years under Ferentz, but they really havent had 2 great seasons in a row.

I just dont see UF in the title game this year, maybe the SEC title game, but thats only because the SEC west is pathetic. You dont replace Tebow and not expect to miss a beat, they lost a lot of talent the past 2 seasons. Same goes for Texas, it's hard for me to pick a team with a new QB to win it all. Although if any of them can I think Texas is the best candidate, kid played good against bama last season.

Michigan will once again fail to make a bowl game, after either going 5-7 or 6-6. Dick Rod will be fired, forcing them to start over on their offensive gameplan again.

This year is really one of the most wide open seasons in a while for the 2 spots in the championship game, there isnt really a standout team. Although my sleeper pick at least for the SEC title game is Arkansas.

I totally disagree with your comment about UM's QB. He is as cool as a cucumber. He needs to put more zip on the ball and run a little more when he gets pressure. Jacory has speed but he tries more to be a pocket passer than scrambler. He also needs to fix all the int's.

Also, UM's oline is very strong this year. They also got the no 1 college recruit who plays tackle who left USC to come play at UM.

I don't think it's gonna be a 10+ win for OSU. Hell, I would not be surprised if either team wins. I would be surprised if there is a blowout.

Also, that QB for Texas did not look that bad when he filled in for McCoy in the title game last year versus Bama.

As far as the Gators, they have TONS of talent.

I'm obviously excited about OSU this year. I also believe we have top 5 team. I'm very excited as well about Alabama playing Pennstate. I would love to see JoePa whoop the previous national champ. I disagree with Buck on Iowa. I think they will be a good team this year.

Except it's true Bama will beat them, but I think it may be closer than though, maybe a 14 or less win.

I didnt get to see a lot of Miami but what I did see, Va tech, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin game, Jacory got rattled pretty early in those games and had pretty bad games in all 3 i saw. For being a dual threat QB he isnt a very good runner, he finished last year with -219. Looking at his stats I dont think its a stretch to say he gets shaky, when its 3rd and 10+ yards he has a 32% completion with 7 ints and 0 td. Like I said I think the game will be decided upon if Miami can run, and I dont think they will be able to against our front 7.
i dont even care about my school's own team, let alone other teams

As far as UM versus OK, Harris threw 2 picks in his fist four attempts. He then came out and threw 3 TD's. The VT game was in a torrential downpour. As far as the Badger game, Harris had a thumb injury and a bum leg. You would be rattled too if you were sacked 5 times. Peyton Manning would be rattled if sacked 5 times. After all of that, UM still had a chance to win.

Harris is a good QB who might be great this year.
As far as UM needing to run, they have some studs at WR and TE. They will run tons of plays from the shotgun. I think they will pass all over OSU. Im more concerned about how they do in the red zone.

This is what I say every year in these threads and I'm always right, the Gamecocks will probably suck this year.

Go Cocks!
Uhh. I'm from alabama. guess there's not much college football to talk about round here.

NOT!

I cant f'n wait for the season to start. Im feinding.

Oh well, at least theyll be put on probation soon so theyll have a reason to suck.
Bet they'll still beat OSU in a bowl game though.

(give me the outback bowls buck, it's all i got!!!)

I think its a bit far fetched to say you will pass all over one of the best defense year in and year out, but we will see. Teams who beat us in the past was usually due to their ability to run the football on us.

This game will play a lot like the Miami Wisconsin game, except we play a little more open offense than Wiscy and have a better QB than Wiscy as well. Lucky the game is the 2nd week and not 2-3 weeks later, it might be 50 outsdie again and the canes will have to get the heaters out
Post edited by Bucknut at 8/27/2010 11:24:54 PM
ya i'll have some respect finally for OSU if they go undefeated. Boise will win the only game--VT they have all year and the only game they have to prepare for all year.

Florida will win the east. Auburn competing in the west is a joke, Bama and Arkansas will both beat them, than you have LSU still in the mix. Auburn wasn't a team on the cusp last year its a joke that Herbstreit /ESPN is suckin their nuts this year. They will be this years Ole Miss.
Alabama probably has the hardest schedule in the SEC this year next to Miss State, they will lose 1 if not two games which means an SEC team won't be in the title game since its not calulated on strength of schedule but what your name is and your W/L.

Harris was 15th in the country last year in passing. Thats FOR ALL 1A SCHOOLS. Very impressive if you ask me. He has a year under his belt now so we will see. 1 year's experience is leaps in bounds in FB.

Also, OSU played a shitload of crappy teams last year so it's hard to gauge exactly how good they really are defensively. I mean, they lost at home to a 9-4 mediocre USC team and lost to Purdue on the road. BTW, Harris threw for more yards than the USC QB. That loss was also the second game of the season for them

Who knows what teams will show up. I still think UM will be able to pass on them as long as Harris has time.

Harris is the better passer but Pryor is clearly the better runner who will give UM fits.

We will see.........2 weeks away.

I just don't see it...

You're talking about Wegher being gone, a guy who was gonna be listed #3 on the depth chart once the season starts. Watch the BTN Preview on the Hawks and get a glimpse of Jewel Hampton. He's back healthy this season and he's a cut above anything we had running the ball last season. He's fast and instinctive, yet no one knows him because he was overshadowed by Shonn Greene and then tore an ACL last year.

By all accounts, the offensive line seems to be coming together and impressing. You'll see some impressive stuff on them in the BTN Preview as well.

Stanzi has his moments, sure, but he also shines as well. He's got perhaps the B10's best tandem in Mcnutt/DJK and Keenan Davis will impress this year. Those guys are big and physical.

As far as the defense goes... Its tough to lose guys like Angerer, Edds and Spievey. But what remains?

The nation's best defensive line? Check.
The B10's best secondary? Check.

At linebacker we still return the #2 tackler from last season in Hunter, but we're green with Tarpinian and Nielsen, but they're both starting ahead of Troy Johnson who won B10 Defensive Player of the Week in his first career start. Something tells me these guys will be no slouches.
Ohio State is always one of the most over rated teams in the country. & they will prove that once again this year.

Theres no doubt Iowa is still going to be a good team, everyone talks about Stanzi in his 4th quarter comebacks which you cannot deny. But Stanzi put them in those holes due to pretty horrendous play in the first 3 quarters. While I can easily see my 8-4,9-3 record, I can just as easily could see them go 11-1 or 12-0. It all comes down to how that Oline meshes and how well they play. We'll no following the Arizona game what kind of Iowa team were going to get. Im going just watching some of their pre-season camps, hunches, and basing off last year. We'll have a more definite and official read on them after that night game in the desert. That game is going to be good.
Well anybody that's highly ranked at #1 & #2 every year & then they get spanked nearly every year come bowl time, that's a over rated team.

So get spanked in 1 game when we were the favorites? As opposed to losing as the underdog, and almost pulling a big upset as the under dog? And then dominating vs another team as the underdog. Once != every year.

2008= owned
2009= lost by fieldgoal
2010= won

We took texas down to the wire in 09 with a true freshman QB with a bum shoulder, and had it not been for one play at the very end would have pulled off the upset. 08 we had no business being in the title game, but everyone in front of us lost and we got pushed into it, playing LSU in what was basically a home game. 07 I have no words for that game, we didnt show up and just got outplayed and out coached, that team wasnt the same team we saw the rest of the season. this past season we upset Oregon and completely dominated them, the score doesnt represent how big of a blowout it was. I had this article at one point that had average preseason rankings for OSU and all the other teams for the past 10 years, and then average final rankings. OSU's two scores were right with each other or the final ranking was a bit higher than our average starting rank, I'll have to see if I can find it again.
Ok so lets here some actual conference predictions from everyone.

Big Ten: Ohio State
SEC: East:UF (maybe UGA) West: Arkansa with Arkansas winning the conference champ game. I just have a feeling with them this year. I dont think anyone in that conference will get out undefeated.
Pac-10: Oregon State
ACC: Ga Tech
Big East: WVU

Ryan Mallet is the real deal man. Obviously a transfer since they hired dickhead & he wouldnt fit that system. But yes i like Arkansas, i'll be pulling for them simply for Ryan.

And thats why it was the worst hire they could make, good coaches adapt their play calling to the players they have. Its going to suck when UM finally realizes this and has to start from scratch all over again after they fire him.

Fuck you don't have to tell me that. I didn't like it from day one & i never will. Honestly i find it hard for myself to root for them this year, just because i want to see his ass be fired & get back to the real deal Michigan football program. Those high end recruits will come back quickly. It's Michigan. Same thing would happen to Ohio State if they were in this type of situation, the recruits would come back in a heartbeat. They are too big of programs to stay down & out for very long.

o man i love you guys. Ya all the arkansas people here are drinking a little too much koolaid. Optimistically i think we win 9-10 and a bowl game. Can always hope though. We are just not respected in the sec since we really haven't given a reason yet. Talk of AJ green and julio jones and we have 3 guys on the team that had a better year than them last year. All of which return. Lots of talk about mallet being the 3rd best QB in the next draft. He'll go first over the pac 10's qbs, they'll say that the other two just had a down year. If you watch some Arkansas games watch for #3 Joe Adams, has a huge heart and is completely nasty in YAC. Abuses a lot of CB's and safeties that try to arm tackle him.

Bring back Lloyd Carr. I know he still follows the team because I personally saw him at dinner in Iowa City when Michigan was in town. He was about 4 tables down.

I would LOVE to see Arkansas win the SEC this year.
Dont make me be the only bold. lol I wanna see everyone else conference picks.

Big Ten: Iowa (Homerism made the difference)
SEC: Tough with the West having Ark/Ala. I don't see anyone running the table here either and tend to agree with the Alabama pick.
Pac-10: Oregon
ACC: North Carolina
Big East: UCONN

Ok so lets here some actual conference predictions from everyone.

Big Ten: Ohio State
SEC: East:UF (maybe UGA) West: Arkansa with Arkansas winning the conference champ game. I just have a feeling with them this year. I dont think anyone in that conference will get out undefeated.
Pac-10: Oregon State
ACC: Ga Tech
Big East: WVU

Big Ten: Iowa (Homerism made the difference)
SEC: Tough with the West having Ark/Ala. I don't see anyone running the table here either and tend to agree with the Alabama pick.
Pac-10: Oregon
ACC: North Carolina
Big East: UCONN

UNC=no, the emerging grades scandal will ravage their ranks.

This, already 4 starters on defense have been sent to the scout team.
I have a college football pickem group up on espn. They pick 10 games a week, you pick the winner and rank them. If you want in give me your email and I can send you and invite.

Or, I dont know if you can search, but if you can its called Bucknut's Pickem!, password is banana.
