Official TWL/NFL Picks Rules
First and foremost. If anyone wishes to e-mail me with any discrepancies or questions, contact me with the e-mail shown below. This includes, but is not limited to, any picks you're not able to make due to a temporary suspension.

1) Any TWL member can participate, at anytime, no matter what week. However, the longer you wait to participate, the less likely you are to have the high picks overall. Winning a week is good, but winning overall is better! Save me the trouble, do not participate unless you plan to participate in as many of the remaining weeks as possible.
2) You can make picks up until one hour before the first game of the day. If you, for some reason, are not able to make picks in time, don't worry, you can still make picks, but the game(s) on that day will not be counted. Get my attention that you are late making picks! E-mail me if you need to. I'd hate to miss someones picks, but I can only do so much.
3) To go with the rule above, you are able to edit your picks. However, picks MUST be finalized BEFORE the 1 hour deadline of the first game of that day - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Example: You make your picks Monday, and the first game of the week is on Sunday, and you decide that the Giants will beat the Cowboys, and want to change your pick. You may do so, as long as you edit your picks before the one hour deadline of that day!
I am going off TWL Time (Eastern Standard Time). The sooner the edit, the better. This rule is simple. Also, be sure to get my attention somewhere in the thread regarding the change. Note - if necessary, make a new post for a separate day's pick(s). Doing so will prevent disqualification for a past deadline edit.
4) Picks will be tallied at the end of each NFL week. Weekly results will be posted in the following weeks discussion thread (see rule 7). If you do not make picks during a week, I may or may not post your overall results. It just wastes my time. However, I still keep track of your overall picks. So if you go inactive for a few weeks, your tab is still kept. Read the end of rule #1.
5) MANDATORY - When you make your picks: If you quote my post for the weeks pick list, delete ALL the other stuff from the post and leave ONLY THE TEAM YOU PICK TO WIN. The ONLY other acceptable format would be something like this: "Dallas at Seattle = Seattle" where you add your pick to the end because it's so tough to just highlight and delete. Tough rule, I know.
6) Tie Breakers: Monday night games will be what we use as the tie-breaker game. Along with making picks for Sunday and Monday, you will be required to guess the combined score of Monday nights game. If it comes down to a TB score, the person with the closest score will win that week. You are able to pick the same number as another member. However, in the event that there is a tie-breaker, and those members also picked the same combined score, I will go with the person who picked the number first.
7) DO NOT DISCUSS THE WEEK IN THE PICKS THREAD! Each week, I will also post a "TWL NFL Week #_ Discussion" thread. Sure, when you make your picks and you want to say, "Go Giants, the Seahawks blow!" that's fine. Just keep the discussion part out of it. And please, for the love of God, keep the picks in the order I post them. The picks thread is for picks only. Its hard enough keeping tally and filtering out the nonsense, on top of that making sure I dont miss anyones picks. So again, keep discussion about the week in the Discussion thread.
8) No copying another player's picks. I will determine if one has done so or not.
9) HAVE FUN, and keep the flames out of here. Friendly competition is acceptable!
10) Awards: One (or more) of the following stars will be placed next to a players name if they meet the criteria:
* = Overall Winner
* = Former Overall Champ
* = Weekly Winner
* = Perfect Week Winner
11) The playoffs will include the top 12 people that will be broken down against eachother until their is a 'superbowl' winner. It will be near identical to how the NFL runs their playoff system. Of course, the top 4 people will have a safe week, just like the wild card race in the NFL.
12) Bye week. There are 17 weeks in the NFL schedule and every team is entitled one bye week. This will be a new rule to try out, and it will work as follows. Throughout the year, if you miss a week and don't want to fall behind, you may use your bye week. Your score for that week will be the average amongst all the other picks. You're not required to use your bye week, but it's there to keep competition throughout the year.
I will not allow a bye week for someone who makes picks, but feels that the average would give a higher score. Tough luck. If you're able to make your picks, deal with it. You are allowed to declare your bye week, though, with notification. If for some reason you do not make your picks for a week, your bye week will automatically be used.
Finally, though this is not a rule, I will place it in here as well as other threads to keep people notified. This year there will be, on top of the honor of gloating, a grand prize to the overall weekly picks winner.
What prize may that be you ask? It shall be a surprise. I will just need the contact info of the winner to arrange the mailing though.
