Today has been an interesting day.

Wake up time: 9 am. Don't you hate beating the alarm clock? I had a rare opportunity to sleep in and I blew it. No matter, I should take this opportunity to do something productive! So, I jumped onto my computer and vegged out. Unfortunately, my grade for the Western Civ class wasn't updated yet. After sighing, I did some more forum surfing before going out for the day.

Shower time! I turned the shower on and let the bathroom steam up, while shaving and brushing my teeth. No, not simultaneously. I wasn't in that big of a rush. Anyway, after showering, I grabbed my check and headed to the bank.

This was the start of the running of the errands. It's a traditional event that takes place here in America. To the bank I go! Happy deposit dance time was had and there was much rejoicing. From there, I drove over to my college campus and investigated the matter of my grade.

Apparently, the professors have until mid week to disclose the grades. What?! No! Impossible! Oh well, I may as well ask a few other questions relating to financial aid. New York state aid takes into account the campus GPA, not the overall GPA (which the federal aid uses.) Overall, it was a waste to drive all the way here. Well, now I'm hungry.

Food. Food? Food! Now began the whole, 'what do I want to eat?' mental debate. In the end, I decide to go to my favorite Japanese restaurant. I wanted to try some new stuff today, so I flirted with the cute girl and asked her what she enjoyed. Surf clam? Hmm, I've never had clam. I'll take it! To go with the surf clam, I grabbed some white tuna, fluke, salmon, and more salmon. Wow, the surf clam was actually pretty good, as was the other sashimi.

By now, it was nearing 3 pm and I had to get ready for work. What do I do for a living? Surprisingly, I am a security guard. There was activity today, as the barge I am guarding was shipping out. If you'd like to know, I can go into detail about the job. A severe thunderstorm warning later, I am on my way to work. Luckily, 5 hours into my shift the Giants versus Jets game was on the radio.

The Giants! The New York penguin hat flippin' Giants! Yes, it's only pre-season, but I hate Rex Ryan. His face and whole body waddle in unity. The sight is sick, yet majestic. I digress. As most may know, the Giants won the game. I drove home quite happy!

Now I am home, sitting at the computer and checking e-mail. What's this? Oh, neat! My final grade for Western Civ is in! I got an A in the class and rocked the final exam! Jubilation! So, at the end of the day, I tried some new, delicious food, I found out I'm still maintaining my 4.0 GPA, and the Giants beat the Jets. An interesting day indeed.
Can't wait for tomorrow's thread!

Flirting. Cute girl. And you ended up with surf clam, and not the bearded variety!?!?

I think you spend too much time studying for those Western Civ exams...your brain has melted!

I think I spent 2-3 hours studying for the exam. Hooray for knowing the material and not struggling like the other students!
Do you hate Rex Ryan because he is x10 the coach tom coughlin is, or do you hate him because he is fat?

Humorously, I originally typed couch instead of coach.
So, today has been an interesting day, so far.

After working 40+ hours over the weekend, and Monday, I wanted to catch up on some sleep. Of course this won't happen, though. I woke up around 8 am or so and cried a little inside. It always seems that my body only wants to sleep on days I need to wake up early.

Anyway, I woke up and decided that today would be a productive day. I began by organizing some minor clutter in my room and around the house. Basically, clothes and such, that when picked up make the house look better. Then it hit me, I should actually use my day off to get some small projects done.

One of the projects was to get a frame for a poster of mine. I'm sure most of the older crowd here is familiar with the movie Toys, starring Robin Williams. I wanted to hang it up, but didn't want to put holes into it with tacks. This would mean I would have to head to Walmart. No worries, I'll just get some other stuff done before heading out.

Vacuuming? Check. Dishes washed and kitchen organized? Check. Bedroom clean? Oh noes. My comforter has several holes in it, and my pillow is worn thin. I should probably replace it now, before winter comes. I'll save that trip for tomorrow, though. With everything done, time to head to Walmart!

Car in drive, go speed racer, go! I'm cruising in my Buick and eventually get stuck behind this old lady. For the sake of the story I'm just going to say she's Asian. So, I'm stuck behind here slow ass, going probably 10-15 under the 55 mph speed limit. Ugh. I can't pass her either, due to the oncoming traffic. Staying calm was easy, though, due to the fact that I wasn't really doing anything with my day.

Finally! I made it to the glory that is Walmart... Heh, it's hard saying that with a straight face. Browsing time begins. I went with a black wood frame, 27"x40". Oh, I need to pick up some nails as well. After I pick up some nails, I head to the registers. Now this is where the story turns interesting.

Panic? Why are people scurrying about.. oh, I see now. There is a fat, black woman on the ground. Someone is frantically giving her CPR. Her gelatinous body wiggles about as the person pounds on her chest. She was completely lifeless. So, being the upstanding citizen I am, I stroll past her and go to a register. I look around, curious where my service is. Jeez, where's the service? It's not like someone is dying.. oh right.

Finally, after an agonizing minute of waiting, someone comes over and checks me out. My total came to approximately $23. Hooray, I got my frame! Suddenly, a thought strikes my mind. What if an ambulance blocks my vehicle? Damn it! Luckily for me, I was able to maneuver around the ambulance and head to the pizza place before heading home.

I'm eating my pizza, while typing this. Does it make me a horrible person to be a wee bit numb to the fact that a person was dying near me? I don't think so
i didnt read any of your blogs and look forward to not reading future editions

Unlike that lady lying on the floor of Walmart!

(now I'm hungry for pizza for dinner...)
lol the win
Hah.

It's weird, the walmarts down here seem to have a... higher class of people than the typical walmart stereotype. Not too shabby. Vacationing here = exception to my walmart rule it seems.

Don't forget about this gem of a website:

http://www.peopleofwalmart.com

When I'm having a bad day at work, I can always hit that site and it cheers me right up!
Today started with my sleep coming to an abrupt stop. This is ironic, but I'll get to that soon enough.

Alarm clocks are supposed to wake you up, but why can't they be more pleasant in doing so? 7 am sure does come quickly. When it sounded, I crawled out of bed and turned it off. Time to hop into the shower and get ready, before heading to the store.

The shower went well. No worries there at all, I promise you. I played around with the coin bag and scrubbed that stank off. It was unusual, though, as I don't normally take quick showers, but today I made an exception. After I put my clothes on and brushed my teeth, I organized some articles that I would need that day.

Today was going to be a good day! Gym clothes! I'm going to use the campus gym, hoorah! Oh, I can't forget my banana and English paper. So, I grabbed those on the way out the door. To the store!

Why the store? Well, I was running low on gas and I wanted to fuel up just in case. Also, I needed to pick up some more minutes for my phone. I told myself that I could wait until later to buy the minutes, but my gut told me to just buy it. Thankfully, I did buy those minutes. Little did I know that I would really, really need them later.

As I am leaving the store, I realize there is something slightly wrong. My brake pedal feels a little off, as if the pressure/resistance that normally accompanies it was waning. Eh, I guess I can ask my dad to check it out later, as I can still brake. So, I continue my trek to school.

Roughly 15 minutes later, I am on the high way, and am further noticing how unresponsive my brakes are becoming. Hmm, but my brake lights aren't coming on, so it doesn't appear to be too big of an issue. If I can make it to campus, I'll investigate it further. Suddenly, my brake lights pop on and I lose all resistance with my brakes.

... uhhh, fuck? Luckily, I remain calm in situations where people normally panic. Keep in mind, I'm going 60 MPH with no brakes. As I get closer the exit, I manage to slow down enough to use the hill to my advantage. There's that reference to the whole 'stopping abruptly' comment I made earlier. So this is what it is like to drive a Toyota!

Driving without brakes is very, very interesting. I don't want to experience this ever again, though. I made it to campus safely and parked my car in the campus garage. I have to leave it there overnight, as I cannot get a tow truck until tomorrow. I had classes from 8 am until 4 pm, so I didn't have much time to talk. During my breaks, though, I was able to talk to my uncle, who referred me to a friend of his. I'll have the car checked out tomorrow.

Both my uncle and his friend believe it may be my wheel cylinder that gave out. I hope this is the case, as it's cheap to repair.

I did manage to work out today. A high note of the day, I suppose. Hmm, well, I suppose I had two decent things happen today. My one professor was understanding when I told her my brakes gave out, so she didn't mark me absent/late for the class. The other was that I sold my math book for $70 today to some guy named Kamal.
Your story reminds me, fuck professors who take attendance. That is all.
Well, it's more a financial aid thing. I believe they're required to do so.

Some of my teachers have but a majority dont. I dont skip class, sometimes I'll miss one a quarter, and to get points taken off for it is stupid.
One professor of mine treats attendance like an exam. If you make the class 90% of the time, you get 90 points toward your overall grade. It's an interesting concept, and I usually show up to class.

Woo...
Dude, I've been waiting for years now for the next installment!
