Anyone in the San Fransisco area? I'll be there for a set of interviews all day Wednesday. Because I'm catching the red-eye back my flight returning home doesn't leave until 10:21pm so unless they want me to go have drinks with them I'm up for a beer with anyone here.

Let's dissect the subtle and not so subtle language of the closet homosexual.

This is not so subtle. Asking to socialize in San Fransisco is pretty blunt and self-expanatory.

I'll be there for a set of interviews all day Wednesday.
likely means that it will need to be a daytime rendezvous or at least no overnights. aka not looking for a long term relationship.

Because I'm catching the red-eye back my flight returning home doesn't leave until 10:21pm
Stressing 'home' so that they understand he's in the closet and must be discrete and quick. The use of the words 'I'm catching' could also imply his preferred roll in intercourse.

so unless they want me to go have drinks with them I'm up for a beer with anyone here.
Admitting he's a ultimately a cheap date but does expect some foreplay.

Does that mean you'll "have a drink" (nudge nudge wink wink) with me Stryk?

woa.... sweet!

depending on my schedule, i might be able to meet you in the city. i live about 30 miles from SF.
nice
If you'd like to get a very good meal I'd recommend Poesia. Its a nice little boutique Italian place. I went there last year when I was in San Fransisco for training. Excellent food and amazing service. A bit pricey, but hey, it was damm good.

Its in the Castro district, the heart of gaydom on earth. So you should feel right at home for your rendezvous with Samuwell.

i was thinking something along the lines of...

Asia SF

The Restaurant

In 1998 Larry Hashbarger and Skip Young opened AsiaSF. This restaurant-lounge-dance club quickly became a San Francisco entertainment landmark. A true celebration of diversity -- many believe AsiaSF is the ultimate San Francisco experience.

The stars of the evening are the world famous gender illusionists – the beautiful and talented Ladies of AsiaSF. Every evening, these divas serve you superb Cal-Asian cuisine and perform hourly atop the Chinese red runway bar.

While I appreciate the thought, bear in mind that I'm essentially broke. This is not an exaggeration in spite of the fact that I can still tap into my retirement fund if absolutely necessary.

Yes, life sucks here.

dude... i've got to think about the chances of ME accidentally doing that. screw questy...

from some unknown reason, that place is the happening stop for bachelorette parties in the Bay Area. over this past summer, my wife was invited to a bachelorette party and it just so happened it was there. she was textin me the entire night going on and on and how HAWT these chicks/guys were.

i guess it made some of the girls at her table feel really uncomfortable because of how HAWT these TV/TS were.
Damn, I'd be up for meeting the Q, but I have to fly out Wednesday from San Jose to the RTP area for a series of all-days meetings later in the week.

Good luck on the interviews, Questor! Check your email...

Thanks. I've already had 3 phone and 2 in person interviews (with local staff) so this job is mine to lose. However, Wednesday is going to be a long day: not only am I on the opposite end of the country but I found out I already have 8 people to meet with there.

You obviously don't remember the story of Steve, Cary and I at Jekyll and Hyde in the West Village back around 1998 or so.

I hated that place.

Now the weirdo bar with the strange horror-esque art on the walls with all the beer and the hampster wheels on TVs, that place fucking owned.

hmm...panel interview? I had one years ago, 5 people, only one was the "good cop" and he was quiet until the very very end. It was hostile even, the theme was "how come you worked there here did that, how you get there, what did u learn, thats it? how can you help my depratment this is what i am facing right now...etc etc etc" sometimes 2 ppl talking at the same time, i had to say at one point 'hold on, im gonna answr so and so just because she opened her mouth first this time"..they liked that, they told me later. They wanted to see if i could handle asinine people, high pressure and inpoliteness (it was a german company!! and the pple interviewing me were americans "making sure they were hiring somebody that would not scare easily"

i wish you the best, i really hope you do well and they value what you bring to the table.

It's not a panel interview. This is with senior management plus my management chain. There are 8 people since they are there and I am in NYC so it's not like I can just pop in any time for more interviews. They are simply trying to make the most of the time.

BTW, the company has only been around since 2005 and they are already profitable even though they are still privately held. Plus, they got USD$25mm in Series A funding. Both of those things add up to this being one helluva company.

You sure? I thought Jekyll and Hyde was the place that was cramped as shit, and had wax statues of Frakenstein and shit. That's the place I couldn't stand.
