Areyou smarter than a second grader?

Today my seven year old son brought his homework home and as per the rules he must finish it before he can play. After two hours and some help from Mom he was unable to crack the logic code. When I got home from work I also attempted it. I do not believe myself to be stupid as I am a research chemist. I am really stumped and considering sending a letter to the teacher asking why she is sending home impossible work. Before I do this I thought that I would give the internet a night to crack this enigma code.

Here are the rules.

The area you have to work with is a standard 3 x 3 table.

1. G is between C and F
2. B is next to H
3. D is on top
4. A is on the left
5. C is above B
6. E is touching 5 letters
7. I is not in a corner
8. B is on the left
9. H is under I

The first to break this evil problem will win a delicious box of chocolates.
wtf?

Figured it out on my 2nd try.

C|I|D
A|G|E
B|H|F

Hmmm not sure if they can be non adjacent like that but its the best I can see. email me an addy and Ill send some tasty chocolates.

Thats the only possible way it can work.
This is a sort of "outside the box" problem solvers. They're seeing if you can recognize the diagonal series as being "in between"

No need to send anything... enjoy them yourself, or give em to a homeless guy on the street.

See, when I saw 'H is under I', I am assuming it means directly under.

thats what I thought as all the puzzles before were adjacent squares.
wtf thats 2nd grade shit? god damn....
EDIT: I was wrong. Haha.

no sh*t. I looked through the book and after these puzzles he will have to start on cross referencing graphs. At that age I was still spitting cookies in girls' hair.

God I was a charmer...
C I D
B G E
A H F
Right lets go. What i've done is to make a list of all teh letters in each box, and crossed off. I'm typing this as i solve it
Start with all the easy ones so
1 means G is not in a corner.
B is on the left. Combined with C is above B, this means B is also on the left. Thus B must be bottom left or middle left, and C in top left or middle left. Also A is on the Left so it must be those 3 there so you can cross them out of all the others
As (2) states B is next to H, H must be in the middle column so somewhere on the left is a square as this
C - I
| + |
B - H

I then removed the rest of the letters from the trivial clues and this left me with D E F in the top right, E F in the middle and bottom right. Thus D must be top right, E is touching 5 so has to be in the middle right and F thus bottom right
as we know the composition of the left and right columns, thie middle one must have GHI in it. As G is between C and F, and F is in the bottom right corner, this means F is either middle middle or bottom middle. However as i posted up there the C is above the B so the G must be in the middle middle and the C in the top left. This leaves H at bottom middle as I must be higher than it, and B is next to H so is bottom left, leaving A for middle left
Voila

|C|I|D|

|A|G|E|

|B|H|F|

You and me both...And parents always complain their child isn't doing their hw, what the fuck.... lol
This is a really unrelated question, but what type of Chemistry degree do you have? What type of research do you do, and who do you do it for (university, private company, ect.).

Also, (this one is a personal question so you don't have to answer it) what is the general salary ranges for research chemists with the same amount of education as you, ect.

I'm a Chem undergrad right now, and I haven't really decided to go to grad school for sure or not yet.
