This edition will showcase the bands I am currently holding on my 1 gig mp3 player. While I have HD's full of music, I like the small player because it forces me to be selective and change the rotation periodically. These are the acts currently dominating:

Destroyer - An Actor's Revenge

Destroyer - The Temple

Destroyer = New Pornographers offshoot. The parent band is also well worth a listen.

The New Pornographers - Sing me Spanish Techno

The New Pornographers - Use It

Devendra Banhart - Little Yellow Spider (Think i've posted this before)

Devendra Banhart - I Feel Just Like a Child

Department of Eagles - Romo-Goth

Department of Eagles - Various (Another "Take Away Show" From La Blogoteque! I love this guy!)

Department of Eagles is an off-shoot of Grizzly Bear...a band everyone should be familiar with.

Grizzly Bear - Knife

Last year's album "Yellow House" made nearly everyone's top-ten list.

Elliot Smith = Gratuitous artist for the decent of winter

Elliot Smith - Everything Means Nothing To Me (Footage: Triumph of the Will)

Elliot Smith - Needle in the Hay (Footage: Royal Tenenbaums)

John Vanderslice - Exodus Damage

John Vanderslice - Trance Manual

Found out about this Vanderslice hombre through liner notes on the newest Mountain Goats albums. He's a bad-ass producer and apparently he makes music too.

Phosphorescent - Wolves (Awful Sound Quality but it makes me miss the City)

Album Quality Version (This is one of the best songs of 2007)

Phosphorescent - At Death, A Proclamation

ALSO --- THIS ALBUM BLEW ME AWAY:

ZOOKEEPER - BECOMING ALL THINGS

Bright Eyes too. What can I say; Conor is a guilty emo pleasure...like carlo rossi sangeria.

In spite of what anyone says, I'm Wide Awake Its Morning is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Bright Eyes - Land Locked Blues

On the album he sings it duet with Emmylou Harris.
Funny you mention Bright Eyes... One of my good friends has been living in Omaha since we graduated high school. While there he got a job at Saddle Creek Records (Connor's label) and has become pretty good friends with him. He's come back home on visits with Connor and I've drank a few beers with him. He's a little strange, but a nice guy.

There are a number of good indie bands on that label btw.
Thats cool as hell. He has a massive following in the NE.
Believe it or not Omaha has a pretty good music scene. Check out some of the bands on his label and I'm sure you'll find something you like. The Faint, Cursive, Criteria, and Sorry about Dresden are some of my favorites all on Saddle Creek.

I really enjoyed Desaparecidos before the guys all went their own ways:

I haven't really been keeping up with the newer music like I probably should. I can and do listen to just about anything, but my tastes seem to go in phases and I had an indie burnout a few months ago.

Thats what these threads are for!

Also, Cursive is a great band.
Yeah Cursive is a good band.

Oldie, but one of my favs:

A lot of the indie I like is really pretty mainstream though. Big fan of Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Muse, and The Killers. Arcade Fire's Funeral is top ten in my favorite albums easily.

If you like Arcade Fire you might dig Wolf Parade:

Wolf Parade - I'll Believe in Anything

Wolf Parade - Modern World

Wolf Parade - Shine a Light

Arcade Fire - No Cars Go

Arcade Fire - Intervention
