For those brave ones that don't mind waiting in the cold weather (depending where you live), little to no sleep and fighting off other crazy shoppers out there. Enjoy and be careful

Since I'm gonna study Abroad, can't spend too much money. I would love to buy a sweet TV. Just gonna stick to a GPS and Camera.

Yeah it doesn't feel like last year's Black Friday. Better off going for the little things...like clothing.

This is hot.

A Samsung 22" Widescreen LCD for $199.

the question is... Can I wake up that early in the morning?
I did it last year, was totally worth it. Stood in line for about 4 hours, but got a 42" Samsung Plasma 1080p TV for $999. They were going for $1599 at the time. The model I got wasn't even supposed to be part of the Black Friday sale, but they screwed up (best buy) and 4 of us got them at that price until they cut it off.
I'm probably going to get the Envision 22" monitor for $150 on Friday morning. I was just in Best Buy and they had about 30 of them so I'm sure it won't be too hard if I get there at 5am before work. It'll be a good excuse to drink until late in the morning, buy something, then celebrate at a diner.

Heh. Thats what I thought last year. I went at 4am, a full hour before they opened, and to my surprise there were already nearly 1,000 people in line. My jaw hit the floor, I had no idea it would be that way. I was going for the Panasonic 42" LCD HDTV, which they had several hundred of, by the time I got up there, gone. Luckily, it worked out, like I said above, I got a nicer Samsung that I shouldn't have, so it all worked out in the end.
Damn. Thanks for the info...maybe I'll just have to bring my drink on the line with me.
around these parts driving home on Thanksgiving night at about 10-11pm I saw people on line already at the Circuit City and Best Buy off the highway in my town.

I went home, got my camera, and went there a couple hours later just to talk to these people and take shots. By 3am the line was huge.

To get the best deals by me you have to wait in line for about 6 hours.

Hmmmm. Wonder what an 8800 would go for?
Shopping on black friday is the single most horrible retail experience an individual can engage in.

Hell of a deal right here.

It's sooo cold out here. The line is around the block and even when the store opened they began letting in only a few people at a time.

My feet and hands are numb, and any enthusiasm I came with is now long gone. Some of the less conditioned members of our team are facing the reality that they may have to descend ahead of schedule due to safety considerations. Our team is hoping that teh 'sherpas' return from the Summit with Oxygen Bottles, Warm Blankets, and Hot Coffee. Unfortunately the lack of reliable communications could indicate that they are already dead, or asleep in the warm confides of camp 4 (the car out in the parking lot) - which means we are going to kill them later for leaving us here in these appalling conditions- provided that we survive.

People who go shopping on black friday are fucking nuts. I hope the go every year, that way I have a day to myself at my job.
I spent about 4 hours last night surveying people on line at Best Buy. After taking a nap was able to get on the line at 4:45, get in and get my monitor. If anyone's intersted, I can post some stats of what people were waiting for with base line demographics.
I ordered a leather jacket today from JC Pennys. Always wanted one, so why the hell not get one?

Besides that, I just did some food shopping to keep my supply up.
