So who watched Dexter tonight?

Looks like Sergeant Dokes has found Dexter out and Special Agent Lundy is pretty hot on the trail as well. How many seasons is this show planned for?

Also imo Dexter has to kill his new girlfriend because as soon as this guy she sent after him comes out missing she'll know he killed him and beinga psycho bitch she'll use it against him.
I watched Dexter tonight. He made all these experiments and stuff. Cool show.
Well you see in the previews 2 agents come to his door and take him to Lundy. It showed Doakes getting the samples analyzed and ratting out Dexter.

Then again I think he will get out of it somehow. The show is pretty good in my opinion hope they make a few more seasons at least.

Damn you! I could not watch it and now you tell me what will happen
But... the first time the psycho woman came on I was like "he has to kill her". I will watch it when I get time today
You guys do know your rooting for a psycopath right? He is a cold blooded killer. His sense or morality, or rather your percieved sense that he has morality is an implant from his father.

Dexter is Jeffy Dalmer, John Wayne Gacy, Son of Sam. Just a bit more functional.

Love the show. I was wondering if it was coming to an end or if Dexter is going to frame Sgt. Dokes. Dexters sister is pscycho too.

But rooting for Dexter to kill his psycho girl friend, or at least contemplating it as a good solution??

Great show if it can make people forget who the bad guy is in reality.
I'm a couple episodes behind

Wow. where to start... Well, I only watched the first 4 or 5 episodes so I can only talk about what I saw from them.

1) People aren't rooting for him per se, he's not the yankees. They're rooting for the show to continue and the only way it can is for him to survive. Ok, so maybe some people are rooting for him, but.... HE'S A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. You can root for the devil in a movie and it doesn't mean shit. All they care about is, is he entertaining me and he is. Shit, look at House, he's a dick, no one would like him as a friend, but he's entertaining.

2) He has killing impulses that his father were able to supplant and he's able to control. He doesn't just kill at will, he satisfies his urges by killing bad people only. He kills killers. So... it's a moral judgment there. Killing in the name of good. good thing or bad thing. Good, the question is can we trust a person to determine that. The Boondock Saints and Frailty covered the same topic really, though slightly different in that they didn't just have the urge to kill, they just did it for the good of mankind.

Big its a show man relax. And we always root for the bad guys in movies don't we? When they aren't going up against good guys, the bad guys are the good guys especially when they are killing bad guys!
I think he's going to somehow frame Doake's. The previews always make it look like somthing else is going to happen.

This is the only show on TV I watch regularly, I hope they keep making them.

I have theory. Doakes is essential to the show, no point in getting rid of a great character, so I think he and Dexter will partner up somehow. Maybe Doakes will find out what happened to Dexter as a child and have sympathy for him.
Also we don't know about all the people Dexter killed, he was killing before the show started right? So maybe he killed a guy that may have killed Doakes's partner for example in the past or he killed some guy that Doakes had a vendetta against but couldn't bring charges against?

Also I can definately give you a legal point on one thing, if that blood sample is the only thing that ends up tying Dexter to the body then Doakes fucked up by taking it as it is completely inadmissible in court.

Also I'm not sure that Doakes openly gavie to Lundy as he knows Lundy is by the book so he sent that in to Lundy but Lundy may not know the Blood samples are Dexters.

And if ti comes down to it, maybe somebody saw some bald black guy breaking into Dexter's apartment which would point to aplant even if its not there.
Post edited by Gen.ArielSharon at 11/20/2007 11:40:49 AM
Yeah the blood samples aren't good for anything except to confirm what Doake's already thinks. It seemed like Lundy was just as suspicious of Doake's in the interview as he was of Dexter.

Who knows, I just hope they have a good ending. In the Dexter books Doake's gets majorly f'd up in the second one. The show doesn't follow the second book at all though so I guess it probably doesn't matter.

By the way, the show is about 100 times better then the books.
Why in a building full of cops, with the supposed insight into the human psyche, is Doakes the only one who i give the creeps to?
dexter morgan

I really don't know what's going to happen after this; this situation where dexter has 'imprisoned' doakes, because the intensity of sergant doakes from his eerie gut feeling about dexter been 'kinda...not right' to him labelling the man a very dangerous loon has got to be one of the things that makes me watch this series. I know this idea of somebody suspecting a supposedly stand up guy as really been a sinister bastard has been done before but i don't think i've ever seen a case where the suspiscions are true(don't quote me on that)...i mean christ it was like the grandest payoff when sergant doakes caught dexter with the bag of bodies and said..."it's all over m****f***" you know the feeling...like in sesame street when no one believed big bird had a friend called Mr. snuffleofagus, and you always wanted someone to see the both of them together but it never happened?..just watching doakes point the gun at dexter...RED HANDED WITH A BUNCH OF BAGGED UP CORPSES..my god that just made my sunday night.
But ofcourse the anti-hero was victorious and doakes got all expenses paid for with a night in a barred cell compliments of dexter morgan, what happens next is anybody's guess. The only reasonable thing i can think of is for dexter to concoct some kind of memory erasing magic potion, because really doakes just aint gonna let this slide.

think you could of went without the Sesame Street Analogy.

This series is heating up with only 3 episodes left. Im pretty sure he will either Frame or Kill Doakes. It's Dexter's word vs his.

If they Are even thinking of a 3rd season they arent gonna let him get caught red handed trust me.

So look for Lundy to catch doakes who was framed by Dexter. Or Dexter kill Doakes. Also Lila is now sleeping with Batista which complicates matters worst she might be planning something.

I don't like Doakes always after Dexter but its the main grab of the show. While I do root for Dexter I sometimes root for Doakes as well. I can't see Dexter killing Doakes as it would diminish the appeal of Dexter the character.
I still think he's going to try frame Doakes. He's following Harry's code and Doakes is still innocent as far as that is concerned. Of course the number one rule is don't get caught, so we'll see. I thought last night's episode was the best yet this season.

I'm glad there's three more coming, theres so much shit that can happen in that time.
Possible scenario for a pscyho killer like Dexter - caught in the dichotomey of Harry's rules ( don't get caught and only kill the guilty) Dexter looks for a solution to two problems ( Doakes and Lila).

Lila is guilty of arson and murder, she admitted this to Dexter. She is also still dangerous and a threat. Dexter kills Lila, implicating Doakes, or arranging for evidence to be found, perhaps even finding Doakes with Lila.

It is then presumed that Doakes went after Lila to get to Dexter, Doakes may also be accused of being the person that broke into Rita's house.

Doakes is guilty of breaking into Dexter's house and if Dexter does not kill Doakes but either sets him up to be killed by the cops or sets him up to be imprisoned, he keeps both of Harry's rules and gets rid of both problems.

Dexter is showing too much emotion this season. He is a cold blooded psycho. He has to fake every emotion and every human interaction. He had no interest in sex with Rita barely getting through it once but then failing on the second attempt, yet he bangs Lila with gusto.

He used to see Rita's kids as perplexing and faked relating to them, but now he is protective, almost loving.

The emotions that Dexter is showing is the only downfall in a great show. Dexter is an inhuman psycho who passes through life with no ability to relate to other humans and confining his desire to kill to Harry's rules as a method of self presevation.

I agree he has become too "normal" by our standards in terms of his feelings and relationships but the plot is meant to show this as part of a recovery. Obviously it won't be a permanent recovery (I hope)
when and whats this on?
It's on Showtime Sundays 9 pm EST.

Bear with me, i know this may be a little farfetched......but the fbi found lab slides in doakes' car right? okay here's the thing...either doakes is overreacting or lundy merely just wants to bring him in for questioning...
Because if the show is really true to lundy's initial keeness and attention to detail he should ask himself what a homicide detective with doakes' combative unsubtle behavior(because remember the man did exit lundy's office rather rudely without masking his impatience) is doing with lab slides?
and why, if he is the killer, carry the soverniors of his victims on these slides....things that coincidentally the blood analyst mr. dexter morgan has access to and handles almost everyday.
if you think about it it's not farfetched at all for someone to notice this...i know i would.
You know it would just be like...hang on a minute what's he doing with labslides anyway?..the guy was supposedly an assasin..why not gauge out the victims eye and keep it (as in a bullseye kind of thing) i mean anything other than putting a drop of blood on little palates.

Basic rule of law enforcement - if you go to a crime scene and find a dead wife and a husband with bloody hands - 99.99999% of the time the husband did it.

Occams razor is applied. The most likely scenario is usually the answer. Why did Doakes flee the country after being questioned? We know the answer, but to Lundy it would look like a man on the run.

If someone is on the run, making a fast get away, is there a chance they might make a mistake and leave evidence? Yes.

Doakes has violent tendancies, he is an ex-special forces assasign, and his father was a butcher. Doakes even said in the previous episode he might stop being a cop a open a butcher shop, as in Bay Harbor butcher.

Lundy isn't done yet, but also remember his involvement with Dexter's sister would cloud some judgement. Who could believe that their new love interest has a brother who was a serial killer without, from a family who has a history of being in law enforcement, but the sister doesn't know?

Why wouldn't Lundy assume that since Dexter is so aware of how blood and DNA work in a criminal case that it can't be Dexter because he of all people would know the risk.

Now consider this, they call Dexter in, they have him handle the slides WITH GLOVES. Is there a chance that Lundy already had the slides checked for finger prints and/or DNA, found Dexter's, and then gave Dexter the evidence to see Dexter would "discover" this evidence or hide it?

Maybe Lundy is playing with Dexter, setting him up, giving him a false sense of security to try to trip him up.

Or Lundy is just using SOP, the evidence trail leads to Doakes so it is probably Doakes.
Plot flaw, in my opinion, that really bothers me is how easily Dexter handled Doakes. Doakes is a special forces operative, he is strong, in shape, and trained. Dexter has handcuffs on. Doakes gets in a tussle, fires his weapon wounding Dexter, and then gets choked out in 10 seconds.

That fight scene is so flawed it is ruining the episode for me. At the very least it would have been a battle, Doakes does not go down that easy.

Angel, fat out of shape, is able to fend off the Ice Truck killer who comes at him from behind with no warning, but Doakes can't even manage to go for 30 seconds with a wounded and hand cuffed Dexter?

Doakes didn't hesitate to shoot a fellow special forces operative and kill him, but when faced with the Bay City Butcher he holds his fire???
I thought they established that Doakes couldn't kill Dexter or he'd never prove his innocence.

Part of why Doakes thought Dexter was suspicious was that he found out he mastered in advanced Jujistu yet decided to be a forensic investigator.

Dexter constantly uses his ablities as well. Also Doakes seemed sort of scared when he realized that Yeah Dexter is a freak like he thought but he was shocked that he was actually the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Real world - a guy who studies Ju Jitsu in college when fighting a very experienced special forces commando - will get his ass kicked.

Add to that factor the college ju-jitsu guy is handcuffed.

The point is about Doakes being suspicious of Dexter for taking Ju-Jitsu, , just another ploth flaw. How does taking Ju-Jitsu make you suspicious?

Some guy who takes a college course in Ju-jitsu and is handcuffed takes down a special ops commando in seconds???

I don't think they said he took a college course, I thought they said he was an advanced martial arts guy.

Its not unreasonable that Doakes made a mental mistake and got owned.

You seem like you're displeased that there wasnt a 20 minute action sequence. That shit doesnt happen in real life. Usually, one guy or the other gets owned in the first 30 seconds of a fight.

It went exactly like I would expect a real fight to go between 2 highly trained individuals. One of them gets owned in the face, quickly. I know its not movie magic pretty, but you'll just have to get over that.

I can understand your opinion if you have never had training and not been in a lot of fights. Having seen and been in many of those real world situations I can tell you that it could take 30 seconds or could take 30 minutes.

But if you put handcuffs on a guy who got a black belt in ju-jitsu in college and have him fight a very experience special forces commando, 99% of the time the commando wins in 30 seconds. That is real world.

I was not looking for a 30 minute brawl, but a plausible reason for Doakes going down. Have him hit his head, have Dexter get out of the cuffs. Major plot flaw to have a guy in cuffs take do a special forces commando in 30 seconds, and add to that DEXTER WAS JUST SHOT IN THE LEG.

Obviously you havent seen many fights. I can forgive this to ignorance on the subejct, considering you're only 16. I have government issued combat training. You're trained to take down and disable your enemy as fast as possible. The majority of fights do not last very long, simply because its a series of calculated maneuvers until someone makes a mistake.

And perhaps you should watch the show better, because as it was stated he has a black belt or some shit, not a college course. He was *in* college at the time. Perhaps if you watch the show more closely you would know these things. Also, Dexter choked Dr. Meridian in episode 8 with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu move called "mata leão" ("kill the lion"). It was also stated that the character did a good deal of training with Harry, a law enforcement officer. I tell you this information, to illustrate the fact that Dexter isn't some pushover. Hes on Doakes' level.

Its very easy to incapacitate someone. I think its niave to expect a hollywood fight sequence, considering that it just doesnt happen like that IRL. Especially in this situation. This isnt Rambo.

(You can ask SS for confirmation if you like, considering how much time hes spent in the shit. Everything goes very fast irl. There aren't 20 minute hollywood sequences)

Considering the fact that Dexter isn't even limping in the previews I'm guessing it was a "flesh wound". Besides, its not like they fought in a field somewhere. Dexter rushed him on a little rickety boardwalk and then they went in the water.

Yep, we are trained to take you out as quickly as possible. IRL, fights are brutal, fast, and SEEM to last forever. In short, Sammy is right -holllywierd fight scenes cater to people who have no idea what combat is.

Case in point: Somewhere along the line in your life, either you or someone you knew tried to recreate a fight scene and looked like total morons.

Anyway, I am unfamiliar with what you are talking about concerning this Dexter. But from the sounds of it, the fight scene sounds like complete bullshit. A handcuffed asshole has a very limited chance of winning a fight like what was described.

Dexter = Blackbelt, serial killer, handcuffed.

Dokes = Special forces guy, who cannot kill Dexter or he will fry.

Dexter rushes Dokes on a rickety dock, Dexter runs into Dokes, and they both fall off this dock into the murkey water. As they fall Dokes shoots Dexter in the leg. They splash around trying to find each other, just so happens that Dexter finds Dokes, and gets him in a Jiu-Jitsu move.

It looked to me like, Dexter came at Dokes. Dokes was a little confused (a guy rushes him, while he has a gun), has no where to go (can't kill Dexter or he will get lethal injection), and then when they fall of the bridge, Dexter was just lucky and got Dokes first.

... it wasn't like Dexter kicked Dokes' ass in a fist fight while he was cuffed... Dexter knocked them both into the water and choke holded him... looks like it could of happened to me.

I see I struck a nerve. Having 10+ years of first hand experience I can tell you a handcuffed guy with a wounded leg doesnt win a fight. End of story.

Perhaps if you read better or even watch the story you would know that Dexter took Ju-Jitsu in college and got a black belt, as I stated, not some college course as you miscomprehended.

Harry was not some law enforcement officer, it was his dad, if you watched the show you might know that Harry Morgan is father to Dexter Morgan. Your welcome for that education.

If you take the time to read my post again I specifically say I wasnt looking for a 20 minute Hollywood fight. Let me type slower and see if it helps your comprehension. A trained special forces commando facing a handcuffeda and wounded opponent who got a black belt in Ju-Jitsu in college = sure win by special forces 99% of the time.

I was looking for a plausible reason. Let me explain what that big word means, plausible. It means realistic, likely to happen, logically explained. If Doakes fell and hit his head for instance, that would be plausible.

It is PURE HOLLYWOOD to believe that a handcuffed and wounded man with who got a black belt in ju-jitsu in college will take down a special forces commando in 30 seconds.

Now, have you had your fill of inventing a flame war for the sake of seeing if you can start shit? That was your best attempt at riling me up to get a reaction. One of your weakest attempts to date. Clearly, he was a law enforcement officer, as I stated. I brought up his profession, because law enforcement officials recieve special hand to hand combat training as well, leading to my point, that the character Dexter is not only a skilled tactician, but also a vicious combatant.

As for the rest of your post, I wont bother playing the quote war. The fact of the matter is, given the mental state of doakes, the skill of dexter's martial arts, and the enviroment surrounding their fight, its completely possible that Dexter won. The wound on his leg was obviously a scratch, which can be deciphered by his lack of limping, as a previous poster stated. Now, you of all people whining about a flame war, but I'm simply discussing your ignorance on the topic. You seem to be the one getting all bent out of shape. 99% is a grossly miscalculated percentage. I'd say its more like 60/40.

The facts simply point to it being plausible. Now you can cry all you want about how you dont like it, but I've proven the plausibility of this particular topic. If you had 10+ years of hand to hand combat experience, you would've known that real life fights dont last extended periods of time. They just dont. The fight on this show was realistic and entertaining. You can have your opinion Bigguns, but you'd be wrong.

Clearly, Harry Morgan, step father of Dexter Morgan, possibly REAL father of Dexter Morgan (since he was having an affair with Dexters mom), police officer, the orignator of Harry's rules, is not "some random police officer".

Dexter got his Ju-Jitsu training in college. Harry is not some random police office who gave Dexter training, but his father, a key figure in the plot line, and the "orignator of Harry's rules"

Your attempts at creating an arguement are now getting pathetic. Stick to religion and politics. You would have to know something about the show to actually suck me into an arguement.

Actually the person that opted for a longer fight scene kinda has a point. Because i thought about it. I mean it's true that Mr. Dexter Morgan has martial arts training and what not, and who knows probably serial killer will (anythings possible with these shows) Doakes on the other hand with all his experience in the field and his survival instinct should have at least given Dexter a little trouble.....yes, yes, Dexter has him in a whatch you ma call it choke hold, but man are you telling me that i could be taught that same choke hold and overpower i don't know...Rambo in a lake..., i mean what about Doakes elbows, the man could have rammed one in Dexters side, and then take him down into the water and you know, do some special operations tactics....they must have taught these guys that in assasination school or whatever.
BY THE WAY... I THINK DOAKES IS GONNA DIE IN NEXT WEEKS EPISODE.

If I'm handcuffed in the front I can still headbutt the shit out of someone. In fact they should have done it like that. When headbutts are involved the fight is very short.
I think you guys are over analyzing it anyway. The fight was only a way for the writers to get Doakes in the cage.

Anyway, my guess now is that Lila and Doakes will both die and she will be somehow brought into the Bay Harbor Butcher case as a suspect.

I just don't see how they can let Doakes live and I don't think Dexter is going to go down.

Can't wait for Sunday night!
