the other part is, they are extremely devout catholics and only had 1 child, which is my wifes mother....could it be that they only had sex 1 time?

i wouldnt be surprised... people who grew up when they did generally treat sex much less as a fun thing and more of a reproductive function. given the devout catholic part, that makes it even more likely.

In three days WWI ended 89 years ago. He would have been a 10 year old boy probably hearing about the war on the family radio, reading it in the paper, and talking about it in school. Pretty neat.

That is a WOW, my parents just celebrated 40 and thats an accomplishment. The best part for you is they are so old now that they are probably past the button pushing stage.
My parents are so good at pushing each others buttons that they dont even need to finish the sentence.
