Call of Duty 4- Modern Warfare

I'm about halfway through the single-player campaign and it is easily the best FPS (single player) that I've ever played. They got the weapons right...damage is pretty much right on compared to the weapons used...limitations of the weapons have been taken into consideration...good lighting, great gameplay thus far. No real negatives. For you military-shooter fans...it doesn't get much better than this.

I saw a commercial yesterday and nearly came in my pants. I have been away from gaming since CoD2, so I'm excited about this.

You've gotta grab a copy man. It's friggin' ridiculously good. I've been playing non-stop for so long my eyeballs are hurting and I had to get off the damn couch. The gameplay and varied locations combined with great weapons and little in-game combat details really just sell the hell out of the authenticity present in this title. I'm playing it for the 360 right now...most people in my small city don't have it, so I figured that I'd finish single-player and do the multi-player thing starting tomorrow.

Ever since I purchased the rotting pile of refuse that is Call of Duty 3, I've decided I will most likely not be buying another CoD game.

This game looks awesome.

For many years I underestimated console gaming because I thought the controllers were limited. Wow was I wrong. Wireless controllers in front of a massively over sized television is amazing.
If you have not played Gears of War, Call of Duty 2-3, or Halo 3 you need to rent or borrow a Xbox360 right away.

I guess when you get slow and clumsy from age, a console is like your retirement watch.

But CoD3 was not made by Infinity Ward, it was made by...lemme think of it...I'll remember I swear...I think it's Treyarch?...(googling)...Yeah Treyarch.

They did not do nearly as good a job with the series as IW has. Although I do think IW dropped the ball with CoD2, which sucked imo, CoD4 MW, by all acounts, is fuckin insanely awesome.

I don't think you should let the crap that was CoD3 spoil the awesomeness that is CoD4

Most people who grew up playing Goldeneye64 already knew that though.

You can't really compare console to PC gaming. Its totally different.

I don't think that there is cross-platform support. I think Shadowrun for the X360 is the only "cross platform" game out there...it connects with people who have X360 and those h4xx0rs who have Vista on their PC, but I don't think that you can play X360 vs PS3. I would love nothing more to shoot you with an RPG...right in the ass!

yeah, bunch of guys in my clan getting this for PC, and since we bailed on competitive play for bf2 and css, hopefully the mp will be ladder/league worthy...

ugh. I thought it was more of the same, with upped graphics. The level design, objectives, etc... all recycled ideas with new graphics. I dont see why people hype this game so much.

Well, I didn't really like the first CoD. Oddly enough, I loved UO. I really miss that game; it's the only fps that I currently want to play. CoD2 was cool at first but then everyone quit running and gunning online and started camping so I dropped it like a bad habit after about a year. I have CoD3 for Wii. Ick. At first I thought it was just the Wii controller not working well for fps, then I played MP3. Anyhow, I've given enough money to the CoD people and only got one game worth a shit out of it. I might buy this game later on when it gets cheap. If it comes out native for Mac OS X I might buy it for full price.

So Snake...did you snag your copy today? Good...is it not? I just woke up...and I'm going right back at it to unlock some achievements and find some "intel items."

i heard theres some street racin gonna go down tonight in Salem skel, you should go get em instead of CoD4!

The majority of the stores in my area (SE of Boston) did not recieve any copies of the game. The few that did only had enough to cover games already reserved. I saw a lot of angry people trying to get games today

After finishing it like 3 times now...I'm of the opinion that the jackass who works for Infinity Ward who set up the "difficulty" settings should have his ass removed. LOL

Literally...on "Veteran Mode" (the hardest)--you can walk perhaps two steps without getting shot in the head and killed. Maybe. If you're fortunate to kill 10 bad guys and move forward a bit, 20 guys respawn. Often behind you or in areas that you just cleared with a group of 12 soldiers.

Not to mention the downright maddening A.I. that these soldiers use in targeting you. It can be pitch black and from 500 yards away...but enemy soldiers (without night vision) will literally pre-fire you if you try to low crawl and peek a corner. Sometimes, soldiers will simply walk up on your group, face-to-face...while 3-4 of your own guys let the enemy walk right up on you and kill you, and not do a damn thing.

It's patently ridiculous. Wave after wave after wave...man, I KNOW that I killed over half of Russia on one board. Probably in excess of 700 Russians, simply because I was pinned behind a house that I couldn't move from.

Other than that...it looks great, plays great...definitely my favorite FPS X360 title thus far.

Game Rocks. I love the reflex scopes and how the bullets actually behave like bullets. Graphics rock, gameplay is great. Only gripe I have is the AI shoots you when they shouldnt be able to see you.

Here is a question. Does the game incorporate the fact that a submachine gun isnt gonna go through the same wall or materails as a 5.56 round or 7.62? I couldnt tell with the perks on if the lower caliber guns still had less power?

2. Is the multiplayer any better (i.e. have any distinguishing characteristics other than graphics or sound) than the 1,000,000 other FPS war games out there?

Its amazing Questy. Take GhostRecon2 and make the sound and visuals better, make it first person and then put it in the format that COD2 was. That is this game. Its truly the best looking game I have seen yet on any system

1. Yes it's out, got my copy last night after work.

2. The MP is amazing. When I saw the trailer earlier in the year I wasn't impressed, but I really liked the demo. And played it for a few hours last night and loved it Definately give it a try!

What's the specs for decent gameplay?
