Just wondering for those who watch old films what is your favorite war flic. I think mine is definetly Patton. From here to eternity was also great but a bit less of a war flic. I like all the Old School submarine flic too, like an Enemy Below.

that's not old.

My pick would be Patton.
I dont remember the name of it, saw it years ago on TV.

It was about this group of G.I.s who were trapped on the enemy side of the bridge. They had a little secret camp in the jungle and they had to blow up a bridge. I remember everyone died, but they blew up the bridge.

It was very realistic with the 8 or so guys being stealthy and setting up the bomb and taking out enemy troops.

POW'S: THE GREAT ESCAPE OR STALAG 17
ASIA: GUADALCANAL OR PT 187 (THE KENNEDY BOAT ONE)

NAM? HAMBURGER HILL. NO MOVIE CAPTURES THE POINTLESSNESS OF THE BATTLES OVER THERE BETTER THAN HAMBURGER HILL.

OK, NEWER WAR/MOVIE? THREE KINGS WITH THAT STUD....WITH SADDAM'S GOLD...IT WAS FUNNY TOO.

Patton and Brige Over the River Kwai are great for WWII flicks.

Of course for newer movies its "We were soldiers" hands down. Forget lame ass Matt Damon in "Private Ryan".

Mel Gibson can get it done no matter what the story is. And what a great man he represented in that film. I used to be in the 1st Cav division and there is a whole museam with stuff dedicated to that Battalion of guys. Awesome stuff in there.
Big Red One
Is Platoon old enough? that's a fantastic (anti)war movie.

If that's not old enough, I think I'm going to have to be un original and go with Bridge on the River Kwai. Patton is very well done, but the Bridge on the River Kwai is a masterpiece.
