How hard is Visual C++ to learn?

I'm an average coder with web based applications like php, coldfusion, d/html, xml.

Given my limited coding background, how hard would it be to learn Visual C++ ? I understand web base applications are far different than a desktop application is this true?

edit: I guess the word 'learn' is kind of the wrong word to use when talking about coding. What I meant was grasp the concepts enough to write a few basic applications.

The question is twofold:

a) How difficult is it to learn C++?

b) How difficult is it to learn Microsoft's IDE for writing C++ (Visual C++)?

People can learn how to make a compiled exe using Visual C++, but not really know or understand C++.

The answer is really best answered by yourself. Just get a copy, get a project and try it out. I've known Visual Basic programmers who made the transition with no problems and several other Visual Basic programmers who could never successfullly make the transition. I was never able to figure out why.

i know c++ but not visual, its not too tough. just buy yourself a good guidebook (or if ur adventurous teach yourself)
It really depends how much you want to know. It's very easy to get basic programs running. Of course it gets more and more complicated as you go along..
Visual C++ is a great development studio.

Getting Visual Studio.NET would be very good if you have that money.

It is a great IDE.
not very.

In my opinion, it's more meticulous than anything else. The concepts are easy to grasp if you've got an abstract mind; from there on it's just a matter of learning the syntax and memorizing functions.
a good way to start

visual basic, get good with it then move to c++

i took the class for 3/4 of the year and studied on my own for the last quarter on my own and got a 5, but i imagine it would be a lot harder to learn/keep the discipline to do it on your own.
if ur saying dhtml as in java...then they are almost identical, im taking java now...c++ is the same, except faster!
