TWL honestly im getting tired playing this high pinging teams from south america or where ever...make a sa league for them or make twl a strictly na league. im tired of spraying full clips into them...get it done
This has always been in our rules.

We are working on SA Ladders but it is still a work in progress.
Gomez I cannot agree with you more....we lost to the same team because we couldnt hit them and they could one shot us across the map.

It is an absolutely unfair advantage to the high pings.

And TWL you need to move on this. Please dont suppose someone else is going to change their servers.
While I agree that TWL would probably be better if they had region based Leagues/Ladders.

I'm disgusted by the attitude you have towards people providing you with a free service that is extremely time consuming.

Straighten up and learn how to talk to people, you sound like a fucking 5 year old.
It is just so hard to police; IP Tracing every team is a long task. And players can ghost their IPs.

There are still players that use DSL or connections with poor bandwith, we have teams from NJ to CA and putting a hard cap on a player's ping is a strict rule. It could bar more than just SA teams from competition.

Just scrimmed Elysium Gaming. I don't mean to be rude but playing people with a ping of 175-200+ isn't fair in a league that states NA - North America.
I think that an NA league should have NA teams, plain and simple. That would solve all of our problems.
...been asking for this since before BF3 came out. I'm glad everybody else is finally on board.

They say they're working on it. What can ya do?

WHAT WOULD A PING LIMIT BE FOR A PLAYER? HOW DO YOU POLICE IT?

Just complaining doesn't help solve the issue.

Currently (and in the past) it has been a team's server must be located in North America. BF3's latency and hit detection seem to not fit that formula, giving the higher pinging player the advantage. As I said above HOW DO WE POLICE IT?

for one most NA players ping anywhere from 7-100 in most us servers its a start...screen shot the scoreboard to show pings, also most of the community knows who is from na sa and eu

Maybe you can't stop people from joining but you can remove them from the league once we figure out they aren't from NA. When an entire team's ping is over 150+ then its easier to narrow down they arent from NA.

You could put out a checkbox for joining leagues/ladders that makes them confirm they are from NA. This way if you decide to kick them its for breaking a signup rule.

Nope, I can not put a check box to verify country of origin. And on Battlelog you can change it to whatever country you want.

Yes, once a team joins we can begin to research them.

Doesn't PRoCon show where they are from? I understand that not everyone uses PRoCon, but it's just a thought.

1. If they don't have the time then they shouldn't volunteer. This is a league with a past that had EXTREMELY high expectations that were met. Requests like these never existed because the TWL admins of the past were on top of things like this. The quality of the games and popularity of PC FPS comp gaming is directly proportional to the quality of the admins who volunteer. If you're not an idiot then you know what I'm saying.

2. Apparently you haven't played SA teams in BF3 comp. It sucks. It doesn't work. This game wasn't designed to play someone halfway across the globe.

3. It's easy to discern who is not in NA by the broken engrish that they use when asking questions in-game. It's not just pings that give away a team of non-americans.

4. Use Pro-Con. The Pro-Con utility, if I remember, has an option to show the flag of the country next to the player in the player list so it does the lookup FOR YOU... so you can be certain where this IP is from.

Spoofing won't be a problem because even if an american flag shows up and their pings are 200+ and you ask...

"Where you guys from?" + "Broken English Response" = Not from the Americas.

French = OK (Canada)
Spanish = SA

Record this conversation, post a screenshot, email your TWL admins until they respond, and then make post after post about how stupid this is. This is almost as fun as playing a match... and WAY more fun than playing a SA or EU team in BF3.

We have never had an issue with SA teams to my recollection. In regards to EU teams, until BF3 there was always an EU Ladder or League.

Although it can be a barometer, it can't be 100%. Welcome to America Jack, not everyone speaks English and very few write it well.

It's 150ms difference between teams now? Holy fuck, it used to be like 50.

It's because there was never a game, back in the day, where ping differentials created this kind of problem. The lag compensation makes the problem... in the past it was not a problem. If we could disable this feature... then it wouldn't be an issue.

My point was that the TWL admins from the early 2000's wouldn't have let this keep going. They would have done something about it.

If they are in NA then their pings won't be an issue and then this point is moot. Use your head Sean.

You can't be 100% sure about PBSS bans from pbbans either... they have streaming admin votes for PB Screenshots... but TWL still honors those on the MBL from those votes. So don't use the 100% sure argument. It doesn't apply to everything.

It's not your responsibility to make the SA teams happy, Sean. It's your responsibility to make the majority of teams happy. If this doesn't include the SA players... then tell them to move or find a SA league or create one. It puts the majority of teams in NA at a disadvantage because of the inherent issues in BF3 netcode.

The code in BF3 does not promote cross-continent competition. It just doesn't. TWL should officially recognize this and base decisions around it. It's not your fault that the code is fucked... but it's not the player's fault that they can't hit someone with lag compensation. Therefore it's an uneven playing field... and therefore it's not good for TWL.

I'm not competing so take this however you want... but when the game is designed to give higher pings an advantage... and you're allowing SA teams to play... then it's TWL's fault that the NA teams are at a disadvantage by allowing them to compete in NZ ladders and leagues.

The solution is easy. Make the legal ping differences lower than what it is now. Level the playing field for the majority of these teams. Or just get rid of the SA teams. There can't be that many.

Why would NA teams keep wanting to play here if they keep having to play teams like this? It's not fun. It becomes a waste of time for the teams.

I think Battlelog has a way to see where a player is from... doesn't it?

It's been a while since I used BL so I'm not sure.

We used to research each player on Battlelog and figure out all sorts of information about them. You can tell when a player is SA and when they aren't.

Yes, we are going to resolve it.

After unloading clip after clip into these guys - in our 8's match where one of them pinged over 400 and every other person pinged 150...we will no longer be playing these teams.

As a community you see there is no communication from the SA teams cause they may know that they have the advantage.

This is really bull crap.

They play well as a team, but when you can hit you no matter what and you cannot hit them it makes them very tough to defeat.

I'm glad TWL is finally moving on this. BUT, I fail to understand why it takes so to actually take action on these issues.

This SA issue was discussed vigorously and prominently BEFORE BF3 CAME OUT and only now, with the game basically dead, does TWL actually do something.

Why such a long wait?
Why have I never once seen a dispute about it? If it was an issue and you felt your team was at an unfair disadvantage why was there no dispute?

SixShotSean
This whining is a bit much. Get over it. Although Nexus ain't competing anymore and we don't have a say, I'll speak my mind on this one.

We've played Euro and SA teams in our servers and theirs and only BAD teams complained.

We didn't complain about Nex Impetus, and they didn't complain about us.

We didn't complain about UNIVERSE, Epsilon, or any other Euro team we faced in their servers or ours, and they didn't complain about us.

It sucks, but, really, this much bitching for ping discrepancy?

On a side note, from what I've seen, the SA BF3 community has more leagues/tournaments than we have in NA, so I'm not sure why they are playing in TWL (no offense to TWL, of course). They can't think that there is better competition here than in SA, that's for sure...

Technically nothing to dispute and we won 99% of our matches against SA teams anyway.

Doesn't mean the disadvantage didn't exist. <-- the point.

Just to further the point. As I understand it, disputes are generally for post-match issues. (Somebody used a vehicle in inf only, etc.)

So how does one dispute a ping differential?

The only recourse is to bring it to an admin's attention and HIS recourse is going to be to find a neutral server.

But when you're dealing with an SA team it is physically impossible to find a neutral server. It's just geography.

SO, it's a Catch-22. There is currently NO WAY TO PLAY THAT IS BALANCED in regards to ping/lag. Short of finding BF3 servers in SOUTHERN MEXICO (haha, good luck) there is no such thing as a neutral server when NA plays SA.

^^ THIS is the issue the community is trying to get TWL to address. The consensus among those that feel this way is to create a separate SA ladder/league/section/etc.

And to TWL's credit, that's apparently what is finally going to happen. And despite the outcry about splintering the BF community, I think in the long run it'll be better for the BF community overall.
Should have happened sooner. Better late than never... but too late the game is dead/dying/on life support.

Because no rules were broken.

Doesn't mean it's not a problem and doesn't mean it doesn't need to be addressed.

I hope no SA teams take any offense to this... it's not their fault they were born in a country with only soccer to watch.

Unfortunate.
i dont think playing against SA is a big deal
GET RID OF ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with gomez and evangel whole-heartedly however difficult it may be to police. There is literally no neutral server location to play against elysiuM. I'd suggest to the other teams to practice by playing on Euro servers before matches and playing ESL VERSUS games. It's good practice. I used to play only Euro (cause I was on a Euro team), and the ping difference was horrible, especially on Russian Servers. However, you get used to it after a while and eventually when you start playing US teams again, you destroy them cause you actually get hit reg. Gomez, you have ALDO on your team, playing against him is worse than a whole team of high pingers because he is one high ping (230+) in a group of low pings, so you never can adjust. However, it's not an issue for us because it's something my team and I have grown to accept. It's still better than playing on ESL. I hope this doesn't get out of hand, it's just part of BF3 gaming and we need to accept it. Anyone can play under those conditions, you just need to practice under those conditions. Let's not let the US become as bad as Euros who LITERALLY cry when the have a ping of 80+.

In the past, we played with so many great clans on BF2 like:
Client-L
HOT
6thAD
20ID
x6
e etc

Most of them had the pleasure to play with us. they never complained about our high pings, why ? they trained to arrive on game day, to know how to win.

This game sucks a lot and the "new community" appears to be immature children.
