Out of Bounds: Let's settle this.

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2014-04-26 · 12 posts

There is apparently a new thing going around in scrims that people think teams aren't allowed to go out of bounds to get a tactical advantage... i.e. Flanking in Seine Crossing.

This is incorrect and totally legal.

The only place that has this illegal is in 2 tournaments... NewEgg and Plantronics.

Am I mistaken in this?

I don't even know how this was made illegal in these two tournaments... and it's just there for bad teams to overturn match results and rule-fuck teams who know what to do and when to do it.

TWL, CGL ,ESL - all legal?

I think that's right.

Thanks!
It's legal in TWL in all leagues/ladders.
the out of bounds tactic is legal as far as TeamWarfare League is concerned.

there. i settled it.
Going out of bounds was not illegal in prior BF games, however spawning on someone while he was out of bounds was. I would assume this still stands. I haven't checked though, BF3 may not even allow you to spawn on someone OOB, so it may be a mute point.

It's a moot point. You can't do it.
Going out of out of bounds and returning is a viable tactic. If you can make it back in time then it is considered the battlefield.

You should be guarding your flank and team and this should not change the game play.

GLHF.
Thanks... just wanted to make sure people understood as I'm getting told in scrims regularly that out of bounds is illegal in Money Tournaments AND TWL.

Thanks
To make going OOB illegal is like forcing the attackers to only use one set of steps to approach an objective. BF installed an OOB timer for a reason, otherwise they would just have you running into an invisible wall.

Hard to believe this has even become such an issue that it bears the need for clarification.

This.
The possible confusion may come from this in the rules

"Attacking M-COMM from out of bounds (aka as Attackers Base/Uncap) is illegal. You MUST leave your uncap to attack the M-COMM. You as a team are responsible for capturing video of this. If you cannot provide us evidence, we will not even consider your dispute. Evidence must be video. Screenshots are not acceptable. In the event of this tactic being used, PLAY OUT THE MATCH and dispute afterwards. Do not stop playing. This rule will be enforced at the discretion of the admins."

May need to be re-written to a degree... Most people will skim rather then read.

That was rocket bending from bc2
NO, we added this in because teams were sitting in the uncap and waiting for the other team to become irritated and leave. This is mainly due because SR does not have a round timer.

I will reword a bit differently. We removed the "BC2" destroying the uncap blurp from the rules awhile ago.

Thanks
