Universal AC 3 Lag

EVGA 5602GB superclocked in SLI
12GB Vengeance Ram.

I have a pretty nice computer and I usually run 120 frames. When I run UAC3, I average roughly 45fps. Anybody know what's causing this? Other than the fact that this UAC is shitty and a better could've been chosen?
This happens to myself and at least another teammate. UAC is utter garbage for frame rates.
For me, when ever im running it, i get ping spikes every minute or so.
BossRangoon,

For UAC to be impacting your FPS that much it would need to be hogging around 30-40% of your CPU time.

Simply ALT tab out and run task manager. Take a screen shot of UAC hogging CPU and post it to their forums.

Just so you know... You are an exception. I too run a i7 950 OC'd to 3.6 and 2 GTX 480's in SLI on a 120Hz Samsung and I do not have any issues.

Ping spikes. Check your upstream on your modem it able to upload without causing ping lags. Easy way to do this is run a constant ping to your fist hop and then upload a file to FTP, facebook or whatever. If your latency starts to jump when you upload, your line is fucked.
Agreed, that shouldn't be happening. I would see where the disconnect is. That setup should be running well.

As XShades said go to the UAC Forums for performance issues with their software.

UAC Has been running very well across the entire site. I had not seen 1 post in BF about any other Anti Cheat 3rd Party programs, so where are all these "better options"?

And I am so excited I get to say this again!

TWL's Anti Cheat Team gets much more than just Screen Shots from UAC. We get a whole set of tools that allows us to track and catch cheaters that we wouldn't have otherwise.
SixShotSean
My game runs fine with the UAC3, but when it takes the screenshots. My computer stay hanging like 1 second.

Will post at UAC forums. My CPU usage doesn't top 55% while running BF3, Dota2 and the UAC3 client.

maybe not running two games may help.
You can say that it "shouldn't" affect performance but it does 100%. I record every scrim & match and ONLY when running UAC do I become choppy. How many people have been caught with UAC? Would it become public knowledge if/when someone is? Having everyone running it for sometime now I would hope at least a few people have been caught. If not then just get rid of it because the playing experience drastically becomes worse when it is made choppy.

What matters is how many people consider cheating, somehow, and are deterred by the fact that TWL requires this.

The use of PB and UAC and any other AC software does the most good by just being there... not necessarily catching people... even though it does.

It's like having security at a concert. You won't do anything stupid, normally, if you're being watched.

It's the threat. Consider us lucky we have multiple AC avenues... I sure do.
Plenty of people still run onto fields at sporting events. Hell, swifty posted a video of him clearly hacking thinking nothing of it. S!lo hacked our old game forever. I doubt UAC is better than the people that can make the cheats.
"I record every scrim & match"

Yeah its totally the AC client causing the majority of the lag ! lol

All on an external 3 tb drive that is 30% full (they get deleted eventually...gg no battlerecorder). Frames are stable 120 while recording. Sorry you dont have a clue.
What program are you using to record?

Here's a thought:

UAC = required

Recording matches = Not Required

@Elliot

You may know this already, but do you record to a second hard drive? That reduces lag immensely.

*EDIT: Just noticed you said external drive... long day at work and now I can't properly read.

I use MSI afterburner. I know multiple people who do not record that also get choppy while running IAC, sounds like the OP is in that category. Excellent observation that recording isn't required. Next thing you are going to say that TS3/Ventrillo/Mumble isn't required either so you better close those while UAC is running just to be sure. I'm all for anti-cheat but I am unsure why you are blindly defending UAC when someone raises an issue.

1. Your being rude
2. The Ac team did all the research necessary with UAC and found it works fine for 99.9% of our community.
3. If you are having problems with UAC, you are instructed by Teamwarfare League to take your issue up with the people that created the software.

You better think carefully about your next post! Asking for help is better served with sugar rather than vinegar.

Think hard about my next post? You can't help. There are many threads stating UAC's deficiencies for frames.

1. Opinion
2. If 99.9% have no problems that means at least 5 people make up .1%, meaning your sample size contains an impressive 5,000 people for your study. Please, embellish more.
3. Unless I missed it, having conversations about UAC (and its deficiencies) is not banned from the TWL forums. When it is please bring that our attention.

UAC staff have repeatedly instructed players that are experiencing lag to enable the "Remove Freeze Lag" Option.

Running UAC under Administrator Rights and turning off AA (Anti-Aliasing) also helps.

200,000+ users
Nearly 300,000 matches.

UAC is not perfect but take a look at the numbers and try to figure out what is different about your system than everyone else because that is where the problem most likely is.

Players with 1 core and 1G ram are using it successfully for some of the older games.

What makes Teamwarfare Admin believe using UAC is really worth a few issues now and then?

Recording to an external drive will have no effect on CPU and GPU usage which is THE most lightly cause of stuttering or lag.

In fact external drives can cause USB BUS flooding if they are writing at a high MBps rate. This can cause other devices connected to USB to act weird (Mouse + Keyboard)

The majority of the horsepower needed to render streaming screen capture is the GPU especially so with Afterburner(AB). Its extremely likely that when you are recording with AB that your system is pretty much maxed out in terms of graphics performance and when poor old UAC try's to take its 1% GPU time it breaks the camels back.

As someone here has already said.. Recording is a nice to have, its NOT mandatory. Anti Cheats are mandatory and always SHOULD be. Record your scrims if you must, but ditch it when it comes to a TWL game.

Amazing how some people value their own gratification (Videos) over a level playing field for all?

I for one wish to thank TWL for taking a hard stance on cheats, Excellent job!
Cheats... GFY.

Good try. i5 @ 4.5 ghz, 2x 6970's, 120 gb SSD and recording to a supplementary 3 TB drive, & 16 gb of RAM on low settings is 120 in nearly all situations *while* recording. UAC has spurts of unplayable choppiness a few times per map.

UAC stinks. Anti Cheat is good. Do you all receive some % of the donation box that I stare at for 15 seconds before the program starts? For some reason everyone acts like a UAC apologist. Using MavRic's logic I am 99.9% certain that people are managing to circumvent UAC.

Wrong. It helps. Test things maybe before you post wrong information? Do you even play BF3? Have you ever recorded using MSI and used UAC3? It doesn't sound like it.

You either made this up or you are repeating something someone else said who obviously doesn't know much about PC's.

Recording a video @ 30 FPS at a low resolution will not "flood the USB BUS", which made milk come out my nose when I read this, btw.

Watching a 1080p movie from the same drive, copying data to it while you watch it, and playing BF3 at the same time doesn't "Flood the USB BUS" either... so hmmm... something is wrong here.

You really do a good job sounding like you know what you're talking about but you're honestly delivering bad information to a community that needs correct information.

Some poor kid is going to read your posts and think you know what you're talking about and will be guided the wrong way.

You really honestly think that's what's happening? You think a SS from UAC actually tips his system over the edge... but running a game like BF3 is OK... That theory is worse than this "USB BUS Flooding"...

I find it more likely that you don't have much experience with MSI Afterburner, which is the preferred recording SW for BF3 teams, UAC in general, which does more than just talking a screenshot and really has nothing to do with the GPU, and it seems like you're making leaps in logic that would make Spock facepalm.

So, here you're just being a douchebag.

You mean amazing like posting in a forum for a game you don't compete in, right?

Or you mean amazing like rudely accusing people of wanting to watch scrim and match videos more than running an AC program?

Do you understand what watching vids do for you? They help you understand what you did wrong, they let you see your mistakes, and can have a big impact on improving your game.

I found a pic of a bus that fell off a bridge full of water... is that what you meant by BUS Flooding?
i5 2500k OC'd @ 4.7Ghz
16GB DDR3
2x 7970s in crossfire @ 1125 clock
2x 90GB SSD in Raid 0
All water cooled, nothing ever goes beyond 50C.

Definitely get chops with UAC....weird.

I bet most of you have NOT done this. Hence why you think it is lagging cause its shitty, no its lagging because you are not optimizing your settings.

+1 JackB

Thanks for doing that, so I didn't have to.

To reiterate...XShades has NO CLUE wtf he is talking about.

Oh, and for the admins sake:

USB 2 - 31MB/ps max. For comparisons sake eSATA (internal drives) = 384MB a second max.

Recording high res gaming at 120FPS = HUGE IO do the math...

Stay in school kids.

Laters...

i7
8Gb Ram
Windows 7 (64) Ultimate (7.3 WEI)
Nvidia GeForce GTX-470 x2(sli)
Vizio 32" Display
Intel 120GB Solid State HD

Plays all games, UAC, Teamspeak 3 and records everything (MSI Afterburner) with no lag or fps drop!

The question I have for BossRangoon is what better Ac could've been chosen?

Dear XShades-the-UberNoob,

Why do you post in forums for a game you don't compete in?

I mean you're a computer genius right?

Maybe you can find a cure for USB Bus Flooding... like USB life jackets or something.

I'm sure everyone who doesn't know anything about computers would buy an XShades USB Life Jacket and you'd have a captive audience that doesn't yet know that you have no clue wtf you're talking about.

good try though.

Who the hell records at 120 fps? You do realize you can PLAY at 120 FPS while recording @ much less...say 30 fps? I think you need to leave.
Come at me bro.
Recording 1080p @ 30 frames per second will require a sustained harddrive write speed of 25-40 MBps (depending on compression). USB2 can only provide around 31MBps. To minimize IO lag you would be better off installing a fast internal drive on ESTA or even better 2 in raid 0. with that setup you could start recording @ 60-120 FPS @ full res which is great for slowmotion stuff. Of course you can minimize the size of the recording by halving the resolution or lowing the quality or FPS but who the fuck wants to look at a shitty quality half res 30FPS video?

Obviously you don't like the word flood, how about fill, overload or fuck you dumb ass?

or you could just use sata 3? GTFO you are beyond sense. No one can record at 120 fps full screen. Most use 30 fps @ 1/2 frame. You are an absolute moron.

How does someone who doesn't play the game, has apparently never recorded using MSI, and used UAC3 all at once expect to have a good grasp on what the problems are with it?

Do you understand that your lack of experience is very very obvious in your comments on this topic. The ignorance is plain and clear here.

You don't even compete in this game. Why would you comment on such a specific topic involving multiple applications that multiple people are obviously having problems with?

Many people are saying that "UAC3 is fucked up right now"

Someone says whenever they record with UAC3 on ... there is a problem.

You ignorantly post "facts" that aren't true... and you give advice that doesn't mean anything.

Everyone knows that an internal HDD via SATA connection will perform better than and external drive via USB. That's a big fat NO-SHIT.

Your USB flooding, overload, whatever you want to call it is a NON-ISSUE... and you would know this if you had EXPERIENCE with this specific setup... but you don't.

Your just finding numbers and adding them together with tons of assumptions thrown in.

You getting mad is funny too... You post in a forum for a game you don't compete in, you post incorrect information, get called out on it, then call us names.

Extremely well done. I'm sure in your universe you're a great guy. I wish you happiness and luck.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aQm75gi_fI

The argument is not whether you would record at 60 or 120FPS the argument is where the majority of the system lag would come from when recording and using UAC. Recording your game is extremely stressful on your system and when you are playing BF3, recording and have UAC in the background you should expect some issues.

There are ways to minimise this.. Yes an internal or external ESTA drive would eliminate the IO bottleneck, however a lot of people use USB 2 for external drive connectivity. If you are looking to remove IO lag USB 2 is not a good option. USB flooding or saturation or what ever the fuck 12 year olds would rather I call it is a very real concern when using fast external drives for high IO applications.

In summery.... UAC for the VAST majority of users does NOT cause a 60+FPS drop in performance as the OP originally suggested.
my god...
I've cum to the conclusion that you get an orgasm every time the phrase "bus flooding" is used.
As a side note: The lastest version of Pro-Con can freak out and start causing 20-30% CPU usage for no discernible reason. It happend to 2 admins last night on our pub server where we started to notice weird lag. After a bit of investigation Pro-Con was found to be hogging CPU and RAM.

Just something you might want to check if you're running Pro-Con while playing.

PS. I'm sorry but all I can think of every time you focus on something I post is "huh..hu. eh huh... he said Bus Flooding .. huh huh eh hu..."

Jack you're more of a Butthead Elliott sorry you're Beavis.

The AC system used for Alienware Arena was much, much better.
