Binding issues

Ok, first off, I use the Q to crouch. But the Q is also the comms function too. When I map it to Q and change the comms to something else, it still comes up when I use the Q key.

Also, I can't configure my Razor mouse at all. Not even the mousewheel button.

Any suggestions?


Also, the game is beautiful. I think it is closer to being like BC2 than old BF2 but so far not enough to annoy me. Im just trying to get unlocks.

One of many bugs I'm sure will be addressed when we get a patch. Sorry, can't think of anything. I'm sure you tried restarting the game after you made the key bind change?


I will get the scoreboard randomly show up fixed at the deploy screen. And sometimes the deploy button won't work at all....have to hit enter to spawn.

Yup... How about spawning in with no HUD, mini map, or scoreboard. Black screen of death in between rounds is always fun

Hopefully these bugs will eventually be fixed

I have the same issue with the Q key. It doesn't affect me too much, as the comm rose usually doesn't even have time show up when I tap it to prone/unprone. The Z key bound to the comm rose functions as it should.

I was in a bit of the same boat with my G500. I had to literally use Logitech's software to bind most the mouse buttons to keyboard keys (e.g. scroll button to F for knife attack). Luckily the software will also detect when BF3 is running and only make those assignments then.

Edit: just realized you had Q to crouch, not prone. That's gotta suck. Maybe try shifting one key to the right on your keyboard? I know a couple guys that play like that so they get more keys to access with their pinky. Of course the stupid thing would probably throw a grenade every time you strafed right.

thx guys, Ill keep playing with it until a patch comes out.

You can use a program called AutoHotKey to swap Q with some other key (whatever you usually use for spot/comms).

You can also use it to map your mouse scroll wheel (you'll need to turn off raw mouse input for this to work).

I had to do both of these things since Q for me is sprint and I use the scroll wheel for primary/secondary weapon selection. If you need help with the script let me know.

Use setpoint and assign keystrokes to each button. I have a 518 and can bind everything with the exception of the scroll wheel.

You could move Q to H on your keyboard if you wanted to.

Normally, I would hold the Q key down and I would crouch and then let up on the Q key to get up and run. But in doing that, that comm screen comes up. So now I just tap the Q key to crouch and the tap the Q key again to get up and run. It's tough but I am getting a little better at it.

I finally got my mouse keys wo work. Its a work in progress.

Thanks prophet, will try after work today. But how do I do this, bind it to the number 6 key? The problem is with in-game binds through the BF3 options menu.
