i guess it's a good thing i bought a 6950 reference model and unlocked shaders to 6970 and overclocked it.
Nice now all i need to do is go get that 560. I have 32 bit not 64 wonder if there's going to be any difference.

only difference you'll find is the ram time, they recommend 4gb or more, 32 will only handle 3gb. Also, try for the 570, it offers near 580 performance for only a little bit more.

You can overclock good 560ti's to almost the performance of the 570 for about $100 less.

I just installed this yesterday and I couldn't be happier. It runs cooler, quieter, and obviously much faster than the 260gtx I just replaced, and it ended up costing me something like $230 after rebate. I'll buy another if absolutely necessary, but since my 260 ran the Alpha with no issues I highly doubt I'll need to do SLI.

Those recommended specs are for high, fyi.
No they're not. They're for medium...

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2011/09/23/battlefield-3-recommended-specs-only-good-f/1

"Dice community manager Daniel Matros has dropped an internet bombshell by stating that a PC built around the Battlefield 3 recommended system requirements, which were released earlier this week, will only be able to run the game at Medium settings.

The revelation came via a Twitter-based question and answer session earlier today, when Matros stated that ‘recommended is usually medium’.

When asked if a single Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB would have enough power to run the game at Ultra settings, Matros went on to say that if you were aiming for that level of detail from the Frostbite 2 engine, then you’ll probably need two GeForce GTX 580s in SLI configuration.

No mention was made of the resolutions Matros had in mind when he was making the suggestions, but it’s clear that Battlefield 3 will indeed prove challenging for today's hardware. The news is sure to have hardware manufacturers rubbing their hands with glee too, as many people are likely to need an upgrade if they want to play the game at anything approaching the highest settings.

The announcement does raise some questions about how well Battlefield 3 will fare on consoles, however. If a PC is going to need that level of grunt to run the game, it’s a fair bet that it will have to be significantly cut back to run on the current generation of consoles"
Seems to be some conflicting quotes and agreements on this topic. Because today they announced that recommended settings were to run the game on high.

I know because if those recommended settings were just for 'medium' I'd have be upgrading my video card.

The game will not be compiled for 64-bit so there probably won't be much significant difference between running it on a 32 or 64 bit system.

I'm pretty sure that article is "outdated" as awkword pointed out.

My old Q6600/260GTX ran the Alpha with no issues at "auto" settings, which judging by the visuals was the equivalent to "MED" settings at around 35-50FPS, I'm sure a system with the recommended specs can run the game on high with no problems.

Lighten up Francis. I posted the "outdated" in quotes because the information is coming so fast and furious that something heard yesterday is usually "updated" the next day. I wasn't trying to point out you were wrong after someone already pointed that out...

Like I said, you didn't bother to keep reading. If you did you would have came to the post where I acknowledged that the information posted was outdated (wrong), and thanked the guy who posted the up to date information.

Keep reading next time, it'll do ya wonders.
