Hello guys, it seems that BC2 is done about new content term.

"games.on.net: Bad Company 2 is one of our favourite FPS of all time... but it needed more maps! Is BC2:Vietnam the last content expansion? Did Dice see the number of maps as an issue?

Björn Johnsson: You should never say never, but we have nothing planned right now when it comes to even more maps for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. VIP Map Pack 7 is probably the last one."

Here is the full article, just in case:

http://games.on.net/article/11236/Interview_with_D...E_New_Content_for_BC2_Unlikely

I got that info in the BC2 forums.

This means that BF3 will come soon thant before?

"even more maps"

lol, nice phrasing there guy.
Doubt BF3 gets released any sooner. They've had ppl dedicated to BF3 for awhile now. BC2 was a test run for how BF3 would be.
I wish they would relent and release the map editor they used to create these maps. The reason that was stated by the media (though not with confirmation by Dice) is that user created maps would eliminate the allure of DLC. But if they aren't going to make any more map packs then there is no reason to not release the editor.

I disagree. I read EA's last earnings report and the president (or whoever) stated pretty clearly that BC2 was supposed to be a cementing of the Bad Company franchise as a spin-off of the main Battlefield franchise.

While I'm of the understanding that BF3 is supposed to use Frostbite 2.0 it should be an entirely different play experience.

em bf besides some offsprings (the original viet. 2142) has been the same gameplay since 42. BF3 will be a improved bc with bigger maps and 64 players to a server. I really hope they keep some smaller infantry maps off the bat not have to wait 6month to a year for IO.
Hopefully they'll go the BF2 route and scale the maps with the team sizes. Also, include an IO mode with the release this go around.
If you think any BF series game will ever compare to BF2, you are sadly mistaken. BF2 was a "once in a lifetime" FPS. All this other bullshit released these days doesn't even come close.
good.. i thought bf2 sucked personally.

BF:Vietnam or bust.
BFV was great! I was a big fan of 1942 DC Mod! Would still play if I didn't have so many problems with the install.

All this other bullshit is created for noobie console players now. That's why BF2 will never have an equal.

Note that BF2142 was great too, i prefer 2142 over BF2 imo.

2142 was great, too. It was developed for PC though.

I hope they go the route of this game, back when they actually cared about balance and every aspect of the gameplay was perfect and balanced including maps (besides omaha beach)
I installed 2142, played it a couple of times and let it collect dust. . Very disappointed in the game.

Without taking the older versions of battlefield into account, such as 1942 and BFV. BF2 was one of the best FPS team playing games out there. I hope BF3 will live up to our expectations.

I think what Vic meant is that it was a trial for the game's engine, not necessarily mechanics.

Honestly, I could never really get into the gameplay of BC2. Hopefully BF3 will be more "arcade-like" such as Vietnam, BF1942 and even BF2. Any Battlefield game since BF2 hasn't really held my attention span for more than a week, and then I feel myself pubbing shit like Cunterstrike or CoD - just for the fact I didn't feel like I was playing with toy guns.

OF course, being a tanker in pretty much every Baddiefield game and then playing BC2 and realizing how awful they were designed this time around didn't help matters. I feel there's a fine line between "super dooper awesome graphics" and actual fun. Dice as of late has been focusing too much on prettiness/"realism" (by which I mean all the junk in your view while in a tank scope) rather than actual gameplay, which has been disappointing.

I know I just rambled, but I'm tired as fuck. Hello BC2 community

They detailed the reasons why no map editor would be released. During their explanation they said it went to 3 different companies: map development, then to frostbite, and then to a sound engineer. overall their process was horrible and it was just not feasible for consumers.

Suuposedly FB 2.0 is built different and the possibility of a map editor is greatly enhanced, but look at all of the companies they are releasing games in an effort to sell DLC.

Yeah! i read something like that sometime ago in the Steam forums, one of the dev's made a thread about why they cant release mod tools or map editor, in short words he said "With those tools, the game will be broken".

EDIT: I think this is the thread:
