BF:BC2 GUIDs

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2011-11-28 · 62 posts
For league/ladder play it is a requirement that you list your Bad Company 2 PB GUID on your TWL account profile.

Important - In some rcon clients it will show both a BC2 GUID and a PB GUID - you want the PB GUID.

Obtaining GUIDs: Using PB Client Logging

- Navigate to your pb folder
- XP/2000: [BFBC2 Install Dir]\pb
- Vista and 7: CUsers\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\BC2\pb
- Create or edit a file called pbcl.cfg in the pb folder
- Add the following to pbcl.cfg:
pb_logtofile 1

- Save the file and join a PB enabled server

Finding Your GUID
- In the pb folder you should see a pbcl.log file within it should be a line starting with:
PB Server assigned guid =

- Enter the last 8 characters in your profile.

Finding Other Players GUIDs
- In game type, type the follwing command into chat: /pb_plist
- In the pb folder you should see a pbcl.log file within it will be a list of players and their GUIDs

If you are having problems please feel free to email me and I can look it up for you.

How do you even find your GUID?

1). Download the BC2 command center: http://www.bc2cc.com/downloads.html . Install and configure to connect to your server.*

2). Connect to your server with BC2CC
3). Login to your server through BC2 (leave teh BC2CC running).
4). Alt tab out and click to your BC2CC. Click on the "logging" tab. Your PB Guid should have been recorded in here when you connected.

*Configuring information can be found on the BC2CC site or in their forums.

Yep. 0.9.4 would log the full GUID whenever somebody joined the server. This new version(0.9.5) doesn't seem to have a way of looking up a GUID.

Try out BC2 Guardian. I'm liking it a lot more than BC2CC. It'll log the full GUID when a player leaves a server, but only show the last 4 digits when a player connects.

Last 8 digits of that number : 26bf39c6
you can now get it from pbbans
Great thanks
you need this for twl / competition. but how to get? I opened a ticket with evenbalance and this is what they said:

Quote:

Note #2: Just enter those commands to the in-game chat:

/pb_logtofile 1
/pb_writecfg
/pb_myguid

That will create a file "pbcl.log" in your PB folder. This will contain your PB GUID and some more information.

posting to twl too. hope this works cuz I haven't tried it

edit:

tried it. in windows 7 it writes to the \Users\%username%\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\BC2\pb\pbcl.log

I realize we need GUIDs but how can we as a team tell if the other team is smurfing if we are playing on their server?

Whiile in game, type this in chat: "/pb_plist". Then if you follow one of these paths to find your pbcl:

XP/2000 users will have it in the BFBC2/pb folder

Vista and 7 users have to find the C: \Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\BC2\pb folder.

Look for your latest pbcl file and at the very bottom, all the GUID's for the server will be listed.

Ya my whole team has this issue...

We can all send you a email but if there is another way plz let me know so we dont waist your time.
figured it out with windows 7,

go to start>(search)folder options>under NAVIGATION PANE make sure Show All Folders is checked, and click the VIEW tab and scroll to where it says Hidden Files and Folders and make sure SHOW HIDDEN FILES, FOLDERS, AND DRIVES is checked.

then you should see the Appdata and the rest of the folders that werent there before.

or you can just get your whole team in your server and run /pb_plist and then check your punkbuster file and it should show everyone's last 8 digits that was in the server at the time

I've tried like 3 different ways, none of them worked for me. I must be a retard
For Vista

1.

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
2.

Click the View tab.
3.

Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
i need my guid cannot figure it out
Put my last 8 digit guid and it still said need anti/guid thingy
I made a program that will retrieve the bc2 pb guid automatically. Just waiting on it to get approved. I think it might get posted in the admin section.
If you can't find your folder then just search your C: drive for the pbcl.log file. If you have it it will find it. Then create a shortcut to it. Hope this helps.
If people don't have access to the admin page for your team here is were I originally posted the program.

Server R7 went out to providers and is being used by most. With that, GUIDs have changed.
I have added a delete pbcl.log function to reflect further server updates and possible pb guid changes. Just delete the old pbcl.log with the new function and you should be good to go after you retrieve your new pb guid.
do GUID's change with different releases of server patch files? i noticed mine kept changing.

Ideally, they won't change anymore. Since release, the GUID's were based on your character name, not your CD key. Meaning, for every new name, you'd have a new GUID (hacker paradise). It should be the same from now on since its currently based on the CD key.
