What does Ron Paul and hardcore Liberals have in common?

Well, besides hating the Patriot Act....and unjust wars.

The answer is they both detested Ronald Reagan......

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/perry-hits-back-paul-negative-ad-203233765.html

Perry is apparently trying to bring this up as a reason Ron Paul is somehow a loon.......but the more I read Ron Paul's reasoning at the bottom the more it makes me agree with him.

Reagan started our crack bing for excessive deficit spending, foreign interventionism, globalism, and massively expanding government.

No wonder Bush loved Reagan so much......why Obama keeps on reciting him as his failed inspiration........and this Perry guy keeps professing his ideological hard on for him.

I'm not sure if Perry's new campaign add has made me dislike Paul, as much as it has forced me to re-evaluate my stance on Ronald Reagan.
To be clear, Paul liked Reagan personally, he just didn't like his presidency.

Not exactly surprising.......I'd also attribute Reagan to vastly expanding corporatism as well.

While I don't care too much for Michael Moore, especially as a person, it's hard for me to sit here and say that he has never once been correct about anything.

Actually no, this is a half truth.

We were already foreign interventionists because of the Cold War. Don't know what you think we were suppose to do about that. Or at least Reagan. Because somethings once your in for a penny, you're in for a pound. Soviets were spreading themselves through force and internationalism. With no intention of stopping. Preceding Presidencies committed us to opposing that. If you want to turn a blind eye to that, I don't know what to think.

As far a deficit spending, I'm not sure how many realize the relatively small part the President plays in the deficit. A lot get laid at the feet of Obama these days that actually was the Product of Pelosi and Reid. Its a persistent myth that deficits somehow are solely or even primarily controlled by the President. Reagan himself had to deal with Democrat/Rhinoish Senate and a Democrat House. And the house has the primary lead on the Budget. Reagan could submit a balanced budget, but the House could do what it pleased.

Reagan could have shutdown the government, but when GB I tried that, it backfired on him pollitically.

Yes, Reagan increased the military as a tool to end the cold war. Something that's given us the peace dividend. But although he increased military spending, revenue under Reagan grew beyond that. To that end though, he was forced to deal with Congress. He didn't have both legislatures in his pocket like Obama. They tried to spend their way back to full power and lay the blame for the deficit entirely at Reagan's feet because he advocated tax cuts, and actually got a little bit, and his military spending.

As far as I'm concerned Paul is a bomb thrower. The Peta of libertarianism. He is old enough to know the full situation but taking advantage of the fact its almost a generation and a half later and he can practice whatever revisionism he wants and less than half the public can call bullshit and half of them don't want to because they disliked Reagans politics.

Hardcore republicans have been trained for decades to react violently with emotional outbursts to any criticism of Reagan.

While your criticism of republicans is spot on, I felt that the hate needed to be shared to the Democratic assholes too.

I heard Reagan was once injured while wrestling a lion when it exploded as he landed his first punch to its face. This is the new Tea Party litmus test.

Ok...first off. This isn't revisionism, the letter was written in 1987 FFS. He is just as consistent on his policies then as he is now.

Secondly....Exactly how bad did the Red Fever spread when the fiscal conservative, non-interventionist, Carter was in office? The Soviet Union was already in piss poor shape and all this deficit spending did was finish an already failing country off.

In regards to spending....how many line item vetos did Reagan use (be it as Gov. of Cali or as POTUS)?

The answer is none....their wasn't one measurable ounce of government spending that he didn't sign off on as if it was his own. There was never a need for a 2/3's majority to override him, because he was eager to add to our ballooning deficits.

We have all been programed that Reagan was some type of visionary saint....he wasntt. He just did what was politically expected of him, but that's what every President since him has also done.....each on outspending and outgrowing the government of their predecessor.

Between black cock and coke.....I'd say it's about the only two useful (not to mention amusing) things she can possibly put on her resume.
