I ahve only used this program one other time, and that was with 1.4 and had no problems...was to play a match tonight with 1.5 and get a critical error every time...i can connect though the game no prob, but not with CDS...I get the splash screen then It goes to desk top with this critical error:

OS: Windows 98 4.10 (Build: 67766446)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1330 MHz with 639MB RAM
Video: RADEON 8500 SERIES (3777)

Failed to enter :1716: Can't find file ':1716'

History: UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

This is what it says in the CDS window:

verything tests OK
Time Spent : 11.48 s
Connected to US Primary 1
Sweeping your system. Please wait...
Not connected to CD server.
Disconnected

Any help would be appreciated
I've seen that error before.

It's caused by not entering the IP address of the AA match server.
Or entering a hostname that couldn't be resolved to an IP.
Ok, well im not sure, cuz all my teammates had the exact info as i did, is their a possible solution? I even tried uninstalling then reinstalled CDS. I have tried other servers as well....doesnt matter i get the same error....II am inputting the correct IP

Try this.

Open up AA or some other server browser and write down the IP's to a couple Public servers.

Fire up CDC and enter the IP to one of the servers, remember to clear the password box unless it's an Advanced server.

Select like one of the Euro Backup servers and then try to join the AA game server.
Rinse, lather, repeat.

See if it works.
well dang, man i tried all 3 CDS servers as well as both homeland and SCi servers...same error each time...so I tried to play the game without CDS and it would crash to desktop after getting into a game. So now I have Uninstalled AAO and reinstalled. I still get the same error with CDS
OK, I'm gonna be making a new release available soon anyways.
I'll have it log to the CDCError.log the command line it's using to join you to the AA server.
Hey Hydra bro, I appreciate it...your response to this issue was outstanding....hopefully we can get it to work...if you need me to do anyhting else to help resolve this problem let me know....you can email me, its in my profile. Hopefully I will be able to play with my squad against some of these fine teams here.

I did manage to get this added to the v1.51 release.
CDC 1.51 has been scheduled to be release tomorrow (2/7/2003) 1 hour before the europe matches start.

As Hydra has said it will hopefully solve some of your problems.

All I can say is thanks fellas....not too many people will release a update so soon after another one...thanks a bunch...I am hopefully going to play in my first tourny on Thursday.
Well unfortunately 1.51 did not fix this problem. Just so you know...i now have asked in the AAO support forums for help, but I guess Im pretty well screwed for my match tonight.
OK, go into the folder where you installed CDC and there will be a file named CDCError.log.

Open it up in Notepad and scroll to the bottom.
You should see a line that says;
'Using Command Line blah blah blah'

Copy and Paste that line here.
ok here is whats in the error log

Yup, it's not passing the IP into the command line.

Are you entering an IP, Eg. 65.23.112.12, or a hostname, Eg. SomeGameServer.com?
yeah.....everytime i have....ive filled out all the ines it asks for. the one i just used was "69.25.19.31" and i get the critical error

what would be the reSon its not reading the IP i am entering?
I have no idea at this time.

I have 4 different applications that use the same method to pass the AA command line and have never run into this before.

The only extra in this one is it detects if you entered an IP or a hostname.
If you entered an IP it doesn't do anything.
If you entered a hostname it attempts to resolve it.

I am looking into it, but it doesn't make any sense at all.
Well, if it helps i dint have the trouble with 1.4. I was able to succesfully join a server then.
well i can get into the server when im not using CDS
i have a member having the same problems.
