CDS match question

lets say its a match day and its a match day for 20 other clans.
we all use the same cds server. right now you can req a log and see every one that joined server in the last 24 hours.

how will we check on the 6 opposing players whne there are 20 other clans playingand using same cds server.
sure you can look at the list but its a pain picking out 6 players from 100 listed.
The CD-software creates a separate log for each entry in the gameserver IP field. For example, if your match is on the IP 123.123.123.123, a separate log will be created for all players that entered that IP into the game server field (note: game server, not CD server).

Also note that if a server has a redirect address such as, for example, nordbat.spiderweb.tk, and half the people in the match uses that redirect address and the other half uses the plain IP, two separate logs will be created and the players won't be able to see each other. It's a bug that apparently wasn't found during testing.

you will only see a list of CDC players who are actualy playing on IP your AA game is connected to.

I have asked Hydra for an easier way of comparing the CDC list with the playerlist (ex. highlighting none CDC players in red).

but this is a nice to have, NOT a need to have atm.

I'm sure with time he will consider making it a little easier to use.

This software was never meant to use hostnames, redirects etc..

It was written from the ground up to use IP's.

The reason at the time was simple. In all the matches I have ever played during my entire time on the TWL, I have never been given a hostname for a match server.
It's always been an IP.

In fact, I'll have to take a look at some logs to see the consequence of using a hostname, as internally it uses IP's.

Until I can add a resolver or something similiar, I would suggest just using IP's for match information.
Like I said, I never knew that. So until I can add it, I suggest using IP's.

I mean, the redirector does point to an IP.
For now just bypass the redirector and use the IP.
If not, I just make it a rule that you don't use redirects, IP's only. I do not like redirects.

Again, sorry. Its one of those acceptable risk things. It something that is very rarely used and may cause a problem. If need be, I will make a rule saying no redirects.
Just FYI: when we played matches using a redirect it worked fine so far - once we figured out that the program uses the IP entered in the field to create logs, that is.
