After almost two months of testing, I am pleased to announce that Hydra's Cheat deterrent System is now a requirement for participation in the Teamwarfare ladders and leagues. It has been tested extensively by both the US and Euro admins and works extremely well. It is now available in th Teamwarfare download section:

http://www.teamwarfare.com/files/?game=15

It is a very simple program to use. You enter the IP of the master server in the left slide out section and the IP for the match server in the right hand slide out section, then hit the 'verify and join' button. If your clean, you will automatically join the match server, if your not, well....

Players there are several IP's for the master servers. If you fail to connect on the main one there will be an alternate available. If you fail to connect on the alternate, you will not be allowed to play and the matter will be investigated by an admin.

Logs are kept of those that connect throught the CDS, so if there is a cheating dispute against you and the logs show that you did not connect through CDS, you will be banned.

If the logs show that you have cheats installed, you will be banned.

CDS will detect altered .u files and Evilhack. Hydra will have a webpage up regarding how to use it shortly. Until then, ladder admins can answer any questions you may have.

Use of CDS is not an option, it is mandatory as of April 23rd. You have three days to get familiar with it.

A few other notes-

The Invitational league will skip one week of league play between weeks three and four. The skipped week will be used for the Invitational League All-Star match. Details will be available this week.

There will also be a one week break between the end of regualr season and the quarter finals. This will be used so for the following match:

Admins with Attitudes vs MO's with Glasses

The rules section for the US ladders have been overhauled. there are a lot of changes that you need to check on. I also consolidated the genral and game specific to avoid all the confusion we have been having with one section contradicting the other. Hope this helps. (Euro rules will be updated shortly)

Happy Easter!!
Happy Passover!!

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO [RIP]HYDRA FOR ALL HIS EFFORT IN HELPING TO KEEP THIS COMMUNITY AS CHEAT FREE AS POSSIBLE!

AND TO ALL THE ADMINS WHO SPENT UNCOUNTED HOURS TESTING CDS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS AS FUNCTIONAL AS POSSIBLE.

---

Master Servers

For US: 208.57.186.249:1715

For Euro:194.236.50.98:1715 backup: 195.195.166.125:1715

Note: Only use backup if master fails, it's important that the both teams in a match uses the same server!

It's worth pointing out that everyone connected to the same CDS server AND game server can see (using the CDC program) who is connected to the server AND are using the CDC program.

in simple terms in a 6v6 match, if you have 12 players on the server and 12 players using the CDC program you are ok.

When do you check?

well the MO would do the check, since he would also join the match server using the CDC program, but there is nothing stopping any player from looking at the playerlist under the setup round or when he is dead.

What to do if a player is on the game server, but not on the CDS server?

Could be one of the following reasons:

1. He has not joined the server using CDC, and should reconnect using CDC!
2. He is using another CDS server and should reconnect using the same CDS server as the rest of you.
3. He has connected to the game server using a diferent IP than the rest of you (if the server has more than one network card). He should reconnect using the same game server IP as the rest of you.

IP's for the master servers are available from the ladder admins. These are IP's are subject to change at anytime.

If requested we will post them in your match comms. Otherwise, it is your reposibility to ensure you ahve the IP.

I am mass emailing all team captains regarding the CDS requirements.

Due to the system, you will receive one email for every ladder your on. Please don't bitch when you get three or four emails saying the same thing

Cool. About time too

A few questions though:
1: What will happen once the hacks are updated to counter this anticheat? Will we have to manually download the program over and over again or will it autoupdate like PB?

2: Will this still be a requirement if PB turns out to be a success?

3: Why was it made in BASIC instead of a faster, more powerful and less resource hogging language?

4: Has anyone besides Hydra (someone in the TWL staff, that is) seen the sourcecode to the program? I'll use it (already have, actually), but since Hydra is a person I don't know I'd be more comfortable if I knew others had checked the source for stuff that shouldn't be there. I'd be even happier if I could do it myself but that won't be an option for obvious reasons.

It compares clean files on the master to the files in your folder. If there's a difference, you can't verify.

I suggest everyone use the 'clean.exe' program in your ArmyOps>system folder prior to a match to ensure your files are clean. There are no exceptions to the policy regaring not being able to connect. Its your responsibilty to ensure your files are not corrupt.

1. Hydra can release updates when he see's fit.Without warning and randomly.

2. Yes, it will be a requirement once PB is released. As a matter of fact, PB is more likey to be hacked than Hydra's. They are seperate programs that operate differently. Hackers are more apt to spend their energy on PB than Hydra's.

3. Ask Hydra. It draws very little resources and uses a miniscule amount of bandwidth. We didn't just decide to use it. As I said, we have been testing it for nearly two months.

4. Have you seen the source code for 90% of the stuff on your system? There's nothing there that shouldn't be. I have no questions regarding Hydra's integrity.

Quick answer Still more questions though:

1: Good, but do we actually have to go to a link and download it again or does it update itself automatically?

2: Cool.

3: Cool.

4: Well, that's not the point. While I haven't seen the source for any of the programs on my computer except those I have written myself, none of those programs were made by individuals who aren't associated with a well known company. That's a very significant difference, so I ask again: has anyone in the TWL staff reviewed the sourcecode?

good to hear this news, but altho im 100% sure that this is a safe program, Ill like to be 110% sure of it, hearing a green light from a DEV member or something, you know....specially since you'll inmediately get banned.

This has nothing to do with being banned from official servers, only here. I am the only greenlight needed when it comes to these ladders. There are quite a few people who have helped test it. None of them have had any probelms.

4: Well, not using it is not an option as you yourself have already stated. I will use it - as I said, I already have - but I really think someone on your staff should check it. It's not much of an issue for me personally as I have a "if the computer starts acting up, reformat and reinstall" philosophy, but others might have sensitive data on their computers and thus have cause for concern.

I wouldn't require something if I didn't trust it. It has been tested on the TWL servers from Gaminghost, which has extensive safeguards and reporting. Its clean.

Just a simple question... I have Downloaded the program but am not sure is it only to be used when playing on a TWL server??

If we are playing on our Private server or anothers private server do we use this program?

i know Psicotic, but the DEV cheat detection system was tested a lot by the DEVs and still got a lot of falses positives and they had to disable it, i was just asking for a third opinion on it, i know your intentions and Hydra's are honorable.

Originally posted by: {KHuDa}Ghost_Ryder

this is to be used for TWL, has you can read in any previous post. Devs have nothing to do with this program since it doesnt affect anything on it. it scans the folders, and if your clear its like a shortcut to your americas army.exe file

That's fine, not trying to be rude, but, the only opinion I'm worried about are the players. You guys bitched about doing something about the cheats, now that we have something, people question it.

PB is not going to be a cure all. Matter of fact, PB gets hacked regurlarly. Check out the cheat forums. we spent literally hundreds of hours with different setups testing it, and it wouldn't be here if we felt there was a problem with false positives. The one on the official servers was a lot more complex, therefore easier to have something go wrong.

Your official account has nothing to with this program. It has no effect at all on your account. Until such time that something better comes along, and I don't mean PB, because the hackers will be on it as soon as its released,w e have two choices:

1.We use it and if its use concerns you, then there are other ladders

2. We go back to nothing at all, in which case, don't lodge a dispute or complain about someone cheating, cause we're not going to hear it.

IMO:
Let's say that EVERYONE in the league gets banned on official servers...I would think that the Official Powers-That-Be would understand the problem and remove the bans.
If that were to happen, then it would be back to the drawing board for Hydra, and some lost play time on official servers.
I think this is an acceptable risk because in all probability this program will have no affect on the original program.
If you really feel uncomfortable about the side affects of the program, try adjusting your tinfoil hat and looking out your window for "Them" (you know who they are...)
Kudos to Hydra and TWL for all the effort to keep the game fun!

Not all the time. Only if you have concerns that someone has bypassed it

so there ll be a cds TWL server?

Originally posted by: psicotic1

It works along the lines of PB, to a point. You play on whatever server you want. The program will not allow you to connect to that server if your running a hack. The master servers are the ones that run the check.

Originally posted by: Black_Sabbath

thats what i ment twl master server for cds.

what about two teams play a ladder match logs are checked after, there is a person missing from another clan?
automatic loss?

Originally posted by: psicotic1

yep. Missing player info in the logs has not been a problem. If you verify with the program, its gets logged.

Originally posted by: Black_Sabbath

ok good. dont want the bullshit after the match " he couldnt connect"

Originally posted by: psicotic1

That's why we have alternate master IP's. If you don't connect there's a pretty good reason, and its not an entirely honest one. If you play and the logs don't show you connecting through the CDS, then you have broken the rules, which is an automatic forfeit and a suspension for the player bypassing it.

Originally posted by: [BeeR]-Mercury-

Here's a suggestion:

Assuming that Hydra's prog. just scans your AA files and connects you to the appropriate server if you're clean, is it possible to have Hydra's program password the target server so that only those who are cleared can enter the server (and then it's the only way to enter it)?

Can or will someone be making a FAQ for this program?? I think it'd be a good idea. I know I have a lot of dumb questions tat I don't wanna post.. I'd rather just read some basic FAQ or instructions.

We have a leased official server. Will we still be able to use this server for matches? I just connect to a CDS server and any game server and the CDS will work, or does the actual GAME SERVER I'm connecting to have to be running the program? Like PB is only server side.

Originally posted by: [82nd]Rodimus

The actual server does not need to be running the server version. You can use the program to connect to any server.

One question about CDC. Has anybody else experienced problems with AA's own cheat detection system after installing CDC? I was playing AA yesterday. Between yesterday and today, I never did a THING to my AA files, other than install CDC, and now I hit the altered game-file warning when I try to connect to an official server.

Funny, when I installed it it said I could not have possibly read the agreement that fast.

I read it four (4) times before it let me click I Agree.

I know its a silly request, but please change this. Who are you to say how fast I can read and comprehend?

edit: I may be able to read, but I can't speel.

There needs to be some documentation or a FAQ on this program. In our match today we had huge problems because some people joined our server using IP and some using a redirect address, which meant the server created two different logs. It took us almost an hour to figure out what the heck was wrong. Stuff like that needs to be explained in some kind of manual.

I guess, you have your default font size set higher than normal.

I have one question, Is there anyway to tell if someone doesn't go threw the cd server or is it just a accusation type thing and you have to get an admin to check logs, I have run the program and logged onto my server and checked the playerlist and everything looks the same, if its setup that we just have to assume someone bypassed without being able to see then I see you admins getting bombed with emails real soon.

It's not CDS, it doesn't do anything to your files. That was one of the first things we checked. Many hours were spent,by many people, using it with the same accounts used on official servers . None of us have ever had a problem.

It's for his protection. He needs to make absoluteluy sure you understand what it is the program is doing.

You can still join the server without using it, but, you will not be listed on our logs. It does nothing to your files, so there's not going to be difference in your server logs or player lists.

Yes, if you feel someone has joined the server other than by using the CDS you can dispute and we will check the logs.
If you dispute on those grounds too many times and the player is listed, then we will start thinking about taking action against the disputer

See, that's weird. One of the other people in my squad (BDK) had the same thing happen to him. He was playing just fine, then stopped, installed CDS, then also immediately got hit by the file-check.

But then at the same time, another squadmate installed and had nothing happen to him (and of course, also all of you TWL admins and testers also had it run properly).

My concern is that it's happened to more people than just me, and none of us have touched our files in any way. Is it possible there's a problem where it would only affect certain system setups?

If you are on the beta testing team, then it is possible to have a problem joining, for reasons that would be obvious to you. Or if you are running the unofficial 1.6.0 patch, which you shouldn't be doing anyway, either on the pubs or here. Rules are clear that you must be using Official patches.

The program DOES NOT alter any of your files. All it does is verify

My suggestion would be to reinstall the game, you have something wrong somewhere.

But anyway, just in case you guys want to know that there might be potential problems, it might be better to warn people to run cleaner after installing it, just in case.

If this program is supposed to be mandatory in TWL matches, shouldn't you have a way of checking to make sure that people are actually using it?

Not everybody who cheats is so obvious as to draw accusations and disputes. Is there a way we can tell who's joined with that program without having to ask you guys, or is there one planned in the works, just somehow to tell?

Sorry for the questions..

yes you can check yourself using "playerlist" and "match log" in the AACDC program, see the FAQ post for more info.

Folks, this program has NOTHING to do with public servers or anything like that. It is only a Teamwarfare thing. It DOES NOT have anything to do with your official account. It doesn't ban your account, it doesn't kick you from official servers. All it does is makes sure that TWL matches are as cheat free as possible.

It doesn't alter any of your games files one bit. Several people have spent literally hundreds of hours testing it and still play on official servers usuing the same pc and the same accounts they tested CDS on.

The only permission we need is yours. If you do not agree to use it, then you don't play. I can not nor would I force anyone to use it without their permission.

I can, on the other hand, prevent you from playing ladder matches if you refuse to use it. And I will. Unless of course someone can give solid proof that it is borked.
