CDC Issue

Been searching through all the threads and don't see one that looks like the issue I am having. I am running xp Sp2. I have CDC installed to the default location it chooses. When I click on the program, the start menu icon, shortcuts,etc. my cursor changes to an hourglass for a second and then back to normal. CDC does not start and doesn;t appear in my task manager as running. I have removed my FW router(lost password and don't know how to do adv config on it), I shut down(and made an exception) in windows FW, I removed my PC tools spyware doctor(tried installed with exception too), and my account is an admin on this computer. I have tried installing in default and custom locations with no success. I also use advanced system care pro, a free registry cleaner and free malware bytes on a regular basis to clean my computer. Any suggestions on how to get CDC running. Would like to play for my team but can't get CDC running. Thanks
Do you have vb6 runtimes installed.
How would I check to see if VB6 runtime is installed?

Also, while trying to get this to work(installing, deleting, removing anti-spyware, etc.) I have seen on two occasion(and only two) the pop up about windows not having access. I am going to check out the threads about that too and see if there are clues in it. Also, when I tried to start up cdc and got that error it also set off my pc tools spyware doctor's monitor. flagged for heurengine. I have previously tried everything from allowing exceptions in spywaredoctor to completely(as best as I can) deleting spywaredoctor. I currently think even when deleted spywaredoctor leaves something behind on my computer that may block CDC. I noticed in the latest version of spywaredoctor that a ton of notepad documents are popping up in random places. noticed it did it even when spywaredoctor was uninstalled and I tried to fire up CDC. A notepad doc just appearred on my desktop and it had references to pctools.
go directly to the file and start it from there, not from the shortcuts
"The file" is the toilet paper roll correct? Tried that...doesn't work in this case.
im having problem with the shortcut as well, but dont have another file in the kustom appz folder to launch it from...
Still not working...anybody have any experience with this issue that can give some crewdible advise? If it is a xp setting or something does anyone know which setting or where to research this issue? thanks
Just for a test, try turning off DEP.

Open up boot.ini and for the /noexecute flag change it to 'alwaysoff'.

So it would be;

/noexecute=alwaysoff

then reboot your computer and try CDC again.
What is DEP and where is this Boot.ini? Is that an AA file?
DEP = Data Execution Prevention

Boot.ini will be located in the root of your boot drive, ie;

CBoot.ini

It will be read-only and possibly hidden (system?), don't remember. So you will need to change it's attributes before you can modify it.
Was dep...good call. I didn't edit that file directly though. apparently you can do it other ways to allow cdc.
btw...thanks Hydra!!
