CDC and BAD IMAGE Error during startup!

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2004-03-09 · 22 posts
happened at around 7pmEST...
installed cdcfull...finished the installation steps and went to start it up from the Start Menu and got this error:

AACDC.exe - Bad Image

(X) The Application or DLL CWINDOWS\System32\MSVBM60.DLL is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I tried downloading it, uninstalling it, then reinstalling it. same thing happened.

tried uninstalling it, then restarting, then installing it, same thing again.

now i don't know what's up with this program but i have a match here in about an hour and a half. it's 7:30pmEST now.

someone help me. i think it's a bad download or something but not sure.
When you said you tried downloading it, uninstalling, and reinstalling, were you talking about CDC or MSVBM60.DLL?

If you meant CDC, you probably want to make sure your Windows is fully updated with the latest addons, patches, etc.

Matt, reinstallations of aa and running windows updates aren't something to just suggest each and every single time someone has a problem. Please stop doing that.

I'd suggest reinstalling msvbm60.dll. Donnow if u can just replace it with a teammates version of it. Probably can, but i ain't taking responsibility for that
Go here and download and install this.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=BF9A24F9-B5C5-48F4-8EDD-CDF2D29A79D5
downloaded and installed it but got the error described above again and THEN got a new one after that:

Error registering the OCX CWINDOWS\System32\MSVBVM60.DLL

*sigh*

Do you have administrator rights on the system?

When you uninstalled, did you also go back and delete the files left over? Sometimes doing an uninstall does not delete all of the files completly.
I GOT IT RUNNIN! w00t!

I had to do a REPAIR install to WinXP.
kinda sux that it takes so long to do something just to get one file but o'well. all is good now.

i'd like to thank those who responded. thanks for the help guys.

might wanna keep this up incase someone runs into the same prob. i'm out...gotta learn how to use this now...shouldn't be hard.
HOOAH!

Any user who has problems with a piece of Microsoft Wiundows software should always make sure that their Microsoft Windows operating system has all avaiable patches, fixes, and add-ons. These can fix problems in many cases.

what deleon said Matt, i just got to be a MCP, and what u said is not true.... it may help with cases about AA, but with system files most of the time its not AA or cdc related, so plz check the Q, if u dont know it, dont post unless u have a good hunch about the problem, dont post on every topic the same stuff that wont work for every problem!

btw, im a MCP!! w00t w00t!
Which one did u you do vas?
I did a couple, but I decided I wanted out of the techstuff, so now I'm back at uni studying something related but not as technical (Information Science)
i got the first Win2k exam, i think its the 70-115(or 221) or something.... its gonna be my last to, think im gonna switch to java or sql or something, something webbased, i bet hydra can teach me some stuff
Hehe. My advice, forget about Java. Think .NET.

A project I just finished should be going into production sometime next week. I'll post the URL for it when it does.
I did the entire site with Photoshop, C# and ASP.NET.
It came out very very well.

Hydra?? do u mean the HftW project?? i check the forum again lately (im one of the beta-testers remember ), but hardly a new post is posted there... are u still busy with it?? or is it finished??
I've had to put all my projects on the back burner for about a month now because of the project I was talking about above. But now that I have some of my "spare" time back again, I can pick some of these things back up again.

Java is far too overrated. .NET is where its at.

Visual Studio.NET is far better a development suite to have than anything else out there.

Except when u wanna go linux, unix, macosx, embedded etc as well.
Anyway
Problem solved
Not true Deleon. You can run a limited .NET on *nix.

http://www.go-mono.org/

Then *nix users should miss out on the programs that Windows users will get. There should only be one OS being used for the PC, with development focused on it.

Also, Mac's aren't PCs. OSX is totally different.

I've requested this before, but can someone please just remove matt's access to this forum except for creating new posts (he deserves cdc help like everyone else) and reading the replies?
Thanks
