The "Real" Rules?

Recent discussions with ladder admins, together with recent threads in these forums have been enlightening.

The general consensus seems to be that the requirement of having a roster, and showing up on time for matches ready to play that roster is not a “real” requirement of competition on this ladder [at least not for teams that follow the proper method - apparently there are ways of doing this that get you banned, and other ways of doing this that carry no penalty whatsoever].

Thus it follows that while teaming an ineligible player is against the rules, this can be "OK" as long the ineligible player isn't a cheater [you clever guys out there may begin to grasp the source of my confusion].

Begging the pardon of those in the know, but this all leaves me a bit confused… if I’m getting the general drift, it is that cheating is OK as long as you do it right [dare I say – by the rules].

Forgive me as I struggle to get my old and admittedly feeble brain around these elevated concepts, but perhaps someone could drop a link to the “real” rules for this ladder... you know, just the ones that matter - leaving out all the ones I can ignore.

I don’t mean to be pedantic but I’m having trouble following all this and could use a list [sort of a cheat sheet] to go by.

Thanks

I would think its not 'cheating' to play a guy not on your roster as long as the other team says its okay and you dont sneak them in or they arent banned player....or if it IS cheating, then certainly if the other team approves the player, they wont report it...just be open with the other team and if they are cool they may not mind. Just talk with the team and be open about it and if they are cool then there is no problem, if not...dont play the non-registered player.

EX: If NM wanted to play someone not on their roster I would have been open to allowing that even if the rules say no...if they wanted to play pher...then I would have said no.

But if you need to know the rules as they are, strictly, they are on this site and are easy to find.
The problem is that you are acting in an extreme pedantic fashion, very narrow minded, and at this point, nothing short of pure sillyness.

I wonder how you get by every day if you live in such a black and white world. Don't come to me about the letter of the law, you don't know the FIRST thing about it. In YOUR case, a player was teamed and it was pointed out he was in-elligible, and he dropped, LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER, he never even spawned. At the point in the match, there was no score, grabs were even, and frankly, your team was doing fine. INSTEAD OF REALIZING THEY DROPPED THE PLAYER AND CONTINUING TO PLAY, you wah'd your way to the admins.

While there are some pretty serious issues with Catch23 and they have been warned that any minor infraction from here on out will result in removal, The situation in YOUR case was not justifiable. Was it an asshat thing to do? Yes. But...could it have been a mistake? Yes...Catch 23 DID have issues with someone removing players from their roster.

Here's your guidelines...
Play the game, PLAY THE GAME....meaning, get on the server, initiate the match, and PLAY THE GAME. If there are serious infractions, there is help to be found. If you are looking for a way to get cheap forfeits, you most likely will not get them.

And, if your reference to banning in concerning your player, I can assure you that I spent a great deal of time with said individual, and for the most part everything was worked out. Also, I notice you conveniently left out some MAJOR issues in communication with your team. Nice.

To sum it up -- There are grey areas in life, this isn't a totalitarian legal system that abides by a base view of rules with no understanding of circumstances outside a given situation. PLAY THE GAME.

Also, I will take this oppurtunity to point out, I was a LOT more leniant in the way I was treated by your team. If any of my admins here got treated 1/10th of the way I was, your entire team would have been removed.

Best rule to follow - Don't be an asshat.
