As i have said before,Hotniks did a great job of setting up this league and i believe everyone had a great time with it. So i am making no changes to it except the pb cvars which will be the same for all leagues and ladders. Thanks Hotniks for the great season. I hope everyone enjoys this season as much. So here is the cvars and config for season 2:

Dawg, seems like you're spending lots of time to make things work. Thanks man.
Looks good!

Note: we're close to having Wolf TV working with Shrub mod, hope to have it ready by the start of the regular season, still have some minor issues to work out.
Nice work Dawg, also watching a shrub match would be great.
Yea it does look good..So when is the new season starting??..
Question.

#1. Property Damage? - no need for this in competition. just a distraction

#2. Why doesn't everyone get binoculars? Soldiers can't have binoculars... just lt's med's and eng's. Give them to Soldiers too I say... everyone can carry binocs. I noticed you have drop binocs on tapout enabled but honestly that doesn't matter either. Just give them to all classes and don't on tapout. Useless map clutter. 8 )

Nice work... everything seems great and the two mentioned above aren't life and death... just two things I thought would make a little more sense.

nice work Sea... appreciate your hard work.

can't wait to play
Good work, 'Dawg. I know you've been putting in the hours. Combining some of the above, I agree on a couple small items:

1. Remove property damage stats (fun but senseless for comp)
2. Spawn all classes with binoculars
3. Remove the drop binocular feature

All else looks good. I'm tempted to offer making mines shootable as an option. Is there a specific "health" setting, which would require a mine to take X points of damage before being busted by shots? I'd say make it high so at least a whole MP40/Thompson magazine needs to be used to destroy a mine.

You guys are correct. Settings have been edited.
You guys obviously fear my binoc collecting skillz.
OK, so for the shrub ladder we use this config and just change the lives to limited and turn panzers off, right?

Ulua, the shrub ladder uses a different configuration. You can download it here:

http://www.teamwarfare.com/files/dl/rtcw/TWL-LL-Shrub.cfg

That configuration disables panzers and has limited lives. The above configuration is for the shrub league config.

I humbly request that TWL just update the ladder config to be identical to the league config except for the lives and panzers.

It would be quite a bit easier to keep all of this straight. Things like g_helmetDamage 5 on the ladder and g_helmetDamage 20 in the league just add to the probability that the game servers will have the wrong settings come match time.

Its not *that* hard to make executable configs, and we have done so...but its not *that* hard to just keep it all simple.

Thanks
http://www.teamwarfare.com/rules.asp?set=Return+to+Castle+Wolfenstein+%2D+Shrub

This one, which you get by clicking 'rules' at the bottom of the ladder says the first head shot does 20.
I believe that file Ulua is for one life to live. I have uploaded the current shrub ladder .cfg to the download section. There are other differences that many shrub players would like to keep the same and we are going to do so. The helmet damage is set to 20 but like i said there are other settings that we will leave alone. This ladder has done well the way it is and unless something drastic comes up i will leave alone and carry on.
Good catch Mortal, last season's config started out limited venoms + mausers but was changed to only limit the panzer to 1.
Fixed. I told you i wasnt perfect
No girl is perfect.
Btw, dont make maps we ALREADY played in the season to be maps in the playoffs, it will get boring fast playing the same 6 maps all season.
replace beach with village and thats a good map list for this season
Yes, WolfTV should be working soon. I have Fonfon working on it. He is working on an update to OSP WTV and promised me that he would look into why it wont work with shrub and will try to get it working. I'll keep you all updated.
Village will be in the playoffs so i will not put it in the regular season.
Great to see the RTCW Shrub competition still going and gaining strength! Hope everyone is doing well.
Fragman - nice to see ya - now come give me a hand. you know ya want to.
pb_sv_cvar r_texturebits in 24 32
pb_sv_cvar r_depthbits in 24 32

Is there any specific reason for this. 32 is just 24 + an alpha channel, so there's not much difference. But why is 16 no longer allowed?

I've two issues with this. First, some slightly older cards don't like 24 bits. And it forces them to play at a lower resolution. Sure any card which can do HL2 can probably pull 1024x768 in 24 bit.

Second, it's unconfortable for me to play at 24. As partially visually impaired, in RTCW I have to run at over a hundered fps in 24 bit not to get a headache. (I get severe migranes instantly looking at a monitor at 60 hz, cause I can see the waves.) Even tweaking the heck out of things, 24 seems harsh and unplayable after a few minutes unless I really crank the frame rate. (and then it's still visibly harsh)

At 16 bit, and >85 hz, there's no issue.

So, why the switch from last season to 24 bit? At this point, I either buy a new monitor, or don't play.

(I've invested a lot into a Sony trinitron and don't have the $500 to spend on a good lcd. The cheap ones make me physically sick. )

I've heard that there are spots on maps where you can see through the walls with 16 bits.
fshalor, you bring up a VERY good point. Thank you for posting. I'm going to get with the rest of the admins from the leagues and bring this up. If you're available sometime this weekend, I'd appreciate it.

hey Sea...looks like your doing a damn good job, keep it up You still with DSB?
of course, he has DSB tattooed on his shoulder right along navy seal tattoo.
Yes Frag im still with DSB. To many good friends to ever think about playing for anyone else.

Pred thats An Eagle Globe and Anchor tattooed beside my DSB one.
I got a Hawaiian chic on my belly and she dances when I eat spiced meats.

Thanks for the binocs and prop damage changes.

Also thanks for the NOT making the config the same as the shrubll config. These are two different things entirley and adds to the number of competitive DIFFERENT shrub venues.

Ulua is a lazy admin and should be made fun of cause he can't exec a 2nd config that only takes a minute to paste into pico and renamed. Same version of shrub so this means Ulua that all you need is a simple /rcon exec shrubleague.cfg and wallah... I dont understand your request anyways since you would have to exec another config no matter what. I think there is a reason he didn't mention for this but whatever. Thanks for not changing it.

Another thing I wanted to address was the debacle over why Hotnicks had us playing cross divisional so early in the league. This upset alot of people and with the history in the forums I'm sure you can bring yourself up to speed.

Some people felt like it was Hotniks pitting the good teams vs each other and the bad teams vs each other. This seems wrong to me and removes any upsets and takes away the 'unknown' factor in the game.

Can you, Seadawg, explain how the matches are goign to be picked or handled... will it be the same as last season?... blah blah blah.

thanks fo' the hardwork and dedication to making this a reality.

My dad was in the Navy and he sucks. <---FYI 8 )

I thought the reason was clipping.

Depending on how your config is setup you can see people clip through walls and this was deemed unfair first by the CAL people and TWL adopted this change. It's like Habit if your an OSP player now to change your depth and textures to 24...

Sorry about your headaches. That sucks.

Anyways... either way I have no preference.

Not really sure why you feel the need for a personal attack here but thanks for the laugh!

I'm not an admin, just wanted to keep it simple, stupid!

infamy, snowfun, or whatever floats your boat.
Whens the season start?

2 reasons for the change:
a) to acheive what the Admin said he wanted to do, keep the pb cvars in line with the other league config

b) clipping occurs otherwise (hence why the other league config was changed as well).

We've heard the same complaints every time a cvar has been changed in the config, there is no one who plays on a worse system from top to bottom then me and I've made it work, so can you. I'd rather stop people from seeing thru walls then worry about your refresh rate.
I'm at least halfway there. Using anistropic filtering I can get to a comfortable level at 24 bits. But not sure for how long. Should be okay for matches now though.

Without AF, I had a 1000 mg asprin rated headache in about 5 minutes of wolfplay at best.

So I guess I'm not out, just redshirted.

Best,

(And thanks to V1x3n for the concern...)

I'd like to take a look at your config, something is driving down your rate, there should not be that noticeable of a difference with these new settings.

Msg me in irc if you're interested-
It's not a rate issue... Just an issue with me. I have a dead nerve in my right eye. Since I use my left eye to focus both and track both, it causes some wierd sight issues.

Example; I can't shoot a real gun using my right eye for sighting, I can't maintain the sight picture. I have to use my left eye and switch grips to a modified left handed for rifle and uncentered for pistol.

A consequence of the issue: if I see a monitor at 60 hz, it freaks me out (I mean like bad. I've passed out walking into a room and looking at a large vintage 1995 23" crt with a white screen at 60hz) . Anything under 72 is unconfortable.

Something about how wolf shows the 24 bit color information messes me up. Adding in the extra alpha channel to 32 doesn't make a diference. Adding in AF helps a lot. It's not an issue with the amount of colors (other game engines don't give me a problem at 24, just q3), but something with the way it syncs the frames wich gets me.

Using an nv 6600GT, one of the latest stable nvidia kernel modules, AF on , at 1024x768 (cause can't keep framerates at 1280x1024) and setting maxfps to 111 has helped quite a bit. It's beareable and still fun.

My picmips and intensity are set to minimize the amount of crap on the screen too, (thanks to twl admins for making those settings managable! )

My configs, before the card switch and 24 bit change + AF are here: (those and the last renderer where all that changed.)

http://www.fshalor.net/4hclan/Configs/Fshalor/fsh-cal.cfg

im fairly sure that if we get wolftv for shrub we will see about 3-4 more osp teams join this league
