Anyone that pays for their server?

Cause our guild is searching for a decent host...so far no luck since it doesnt have a linux client....

Email The Net Gamer and ReconGamer and see if they support or intend on supporting VIETCONG. The game is new and a lot of server hosting companies are unaware of it and it's requirements and server stability.

Already emailed both of them...same story.... No linux no support....

We have some good host around here but..'they wait on linux support'

I just hope that linux support will be available quick but thats not going to happen real sonn from what i have read

No. And that's the point. Linux is a real server OS -- and it's free. You don't pay for a license, and you get a much more secure, robust, extensible, stable and all-around sexier OS, with much better remote administration tools than some POS Windows-based OS.

But there's good news: a standalone win32 server is on the way and it's A.) free and B.) does not require a CD. Additionally, linux binaries are expected sometime soon; but realistically speaking, that project is probably a number of weeks away from release as TAKE2 has to contract a 3rd party developer to add linux support...

ORT is currently investigating servers and I must say...it's DAMN expensive!

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. I have two WONDERFUL dedicated server on the west coast, but my server provider will not allow me to host without the standalone dedicated server files. We run both linux and NT servers.

Also, I think they're going to be making substantial changes in how PR/support for this game is being handled. I recently noticed that in addition to Janacek's posts at the official forums, there are more Gathering moderators/lurkers who are beginning to post, or "infiltrate."

Didn't they something about the dedicated server being released soon?
